Wooly Stars

Since I made the elephant quilt for that special little girl to keep at her grandma’s house, I also needed to make her one for her own house. I heard through the grapevine that her mama wanted a sheep theme in the nursery, and I was in love with this pattern, so it was the perfect choice!

This pattern is Wooly Stars by Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts.

I rarely make a quilt exactly like the pattern shows, so it amazes me that I actually did it this time! But it’s just so cute the way it is!

Corey has since shown the sheep in other color ways, and I’m very tempted to try some sheep in other colors now.

For this quilt, I also did very simple custom quilting:

And it also has the same sherpa fleece backing as the elephant quilt.

I used solid black for the binding, and once again had lots of help with that part!

Here are the details . . .

Wooly Stars quilt:

Finished size: 62″ x 62″
Pattern: Wooly Stars by Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts. Get it HERE.
Fabrics for top and binding: from my stash
Backing: lightweight sherpa fleece
Batting: Bamboo (not sure what brand)
Thread: Superior OMNI #3002 Natural White
Quilting: simple custom quilting by me!

I’ll leave you with this sweet photo of my own two boys, Merlin and Sir Lancelot, back when they were just tiny little chaps. They’re so huge and grown up now!

I was standing by a version of this quilt at a show recently and overheard someone ask why the maker had put leotards on the blocks…
…haven’t been able to unsee those leotards since. 🙂
