The first installment of “Springtime in Arrow Rock” is going out today! If you haven’t signed up yet, what are you waiting for? It’s not too late. You can review the options and find the link to purchase HERE.
To get things kicked off, I have a bit of information for you as you get started.
To help keep your pattern in order, I recommend THIS article that shows how I usually organize my own BOM patterns as I’m working. Your booklet will be arriving in sections monthly, so this is a good way to keep everything together and in order as you work through the program.
I used a lot of “low-volume” fabrics in my quilt for the background. If you are unsure of what qualifies as low-volume, I wrote an article about it HERE. In that article, there is a link to another article that explains it even further, including a bit of information in case you need to acquire more low-volume fabrics for your quilt!
I don’t normally recommend any specific tools for my patterns, but for this quilt, a 4 1/2″ Bloc-Loc ruler for trimming triangle squares might come in really handy. I’ve written an article on using one of these rulers HERE. Also, I’m having a give-away for one of these rulers right now — go check out my last post, and get your name in the pot to possibly win yourself one!
The first installment contains instructions for three blocks, plus the pages from the booklet that you’ll need to get started, including the set of labels you can use for labeling everything.
And before I go, one more thing:
I’m giving away a bundle of fabric! This give-away is open to anyone, whether you are participating in the BOM or not, but if you ARE participating in the BOM and win this bundle, it’ll make a great starting kit for your Springtime in Arrow Rock quilt.
The bundle contains 6 fat quarters from the new Astrid collection by Victoria Findlay Wolfe. Along with the Astrid prints, I’m including 9 fat quarters of solids that coordinate with the Astrid prints.
If you want more prints from the Astrid collection, or more coordinating solids, you can find them all at VFWQuilts.com. I used a lot of Victoria’s fabrics in my quilt, and her solids are a great price!
To have a chance at winning the bundle, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. I’ll draw a winner on Wednesday, May 19th.
So keep your eyes peeled for your Month One packets to arrive, and if you have any questions, just give me a holler! I’m excited to see your quilts coming together!
UPDATE: The winner of the fabric bundle is Suzette Harris! Thanks, everyone, for playing along.
I’m so excited!! I really love your newest quilt!
And I’d love to win the drawing for the beautiful fabric… It’s conveniently scheduled so it would be a birthday present! Woot Woot!! 😊
I always enjoy reading your blogs. I will not be able to participate in the BOM at this time. However, I am thinking about purchasing to do this fall or winter.
I have not yet decided if I will participate in the BOM, but I would love to have these fat quarters.
Love those fabrics! So pretty.
Thanks for all the helpful tips about making your new BOM. I am learning about low-volume fabrics from the information mentioned in the blog. I like the new fabric a lot!
I hope to enjoy this BOM as much as I enjoyed last year’s! Love the pattern! Pretty fabric, also!
That is a happy quilt! My plate is full, and I think I left last years Arrow Rock at maybe month 3 ???
My birthday is not until next month, so I won’t be able to start until then, but I am looking forward to it. Those fabrics are so pretty–thanks for the chance to win them!
Your quilt design is so cute Shelly. I hope I can stay on track!😉
Love this pattern. I would really like the fat quarter bundle!
Trying to decide if i should start something new or keep working on the backlog of UFOs. Decisions, decisions.
Sorry to say I won’t be doing the BOM with you. I’m super busy with our guild quilt along and I’ve started on a quilt that I am designing myself so it’s a bit mind-boggling. I’ve been seeing Victoria’s new Astrid collection on Instagram and Facebook and have to agree that the fabrics are gorgeous!
My best friend is giving me the BOM for my birthday! Isn’t that awesome! Would love to win the FQ to go with.
Those fabrics and colors are stunning! Thank you for the opportunity to win this.
What beautiful fabrics and you are so generous! The colors are fabulous.
You just keep showing us one amazing quilt after another. Just when I think it can’t get any better, it DOES.
Looking forward to the 2nd Arrow Rock BOM, even though I’m not quite finished with the first one.:)
A lovely sampler you have designed and made and are sharing with others through BOM. I fall so far behind when I attempt BOMs and Mystery quilts. As one can tell from numerous UFOs nicely boxed with fabric I pulled to make the quilt. I could probably pull the blocks (2 or 3 generally) from each one and make a sampler about the size of maybe Delaware.
What I’d rather do is start something new with the fabrics you are giving away. The colors of the prints and solids are so refreshing how they all play nicely together even with the bold, larger prints. It would be fun to design a quilt using them.
Enjoy spring!
Very pretty fabric! I’m still debating whether to sign up for the BOM. It’s very pretty!
Really pretty quilt and fabrics. Thinking of joining the BOM. Thank you for the chance at winning the gorgeous fabrics, too.
I’m new to sewing so “scraps” are in short supply. Love the fabric. Thx for fun giveaways and your generosity!!
I must not have hit the submit button… So I’m responding again. I LOOOOOOOOOVE this quilt! I can’t wait to receive my pattern and start making my pattern book. ❤️
And since you are doing the drawing the day after my birthday, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a late birthday present! 🤞😁
Wow beautiful
Can’t wait for the pattern to arrive. Beautiful fat quarters.
I love sampler quilts. It looks like fun!
Love the fabric colors and the pattern.
Good afternoon and happy quilting……I will be ordering mine on Tuesday or Wednesday and I am looking forward to making this quilt…..thanks for a fabulous design
I have the earlier Arrow Rock quilt ready for a quilter to be available. It is so nice. I subscribed again and just printed if off my computer. I love it. I will tell you when I make that first block.
Love the fabric solids you are giving away. I had hoped to participate in the panel challenge but life happened and I didn’t get to participate. No BOM for me right now 🙁 But there is always room for more fabric:) because one day I will get to it!
I love working with low density prints, hum… I will have to think about this project. The fabric is beautiful, too. thanks for all you do for us quilters.
Thanks for the tips! Once I return from vacation, I plan to start on this!
What rich fabric colors, would love to win a bundle to make something beautiful!! Happy Sewing from Iowa

Would like that fat quarter bundle.
I love Victoria‘s new Astrid line. You selected some nice coordinating solids.
Love the fabrics and could use them.
As always VFW does not disappoint hitting the high notes again with Astrid. The solids are perfect!
Would love to add the fabrics to my next project Bom or not
I always get a kick out of your IG posts and blog. The animal antics are the best! Love Victoria’s new fabrics–so nice of you to share them with a lucky quilter❤
