Planners and Trackers

Posted on January 6, 2026 by prairiemoonquilts in Organizing

I love that fresh start to the new year, cracking open a new planner book, updating all my trackers to start anew, and loving all the possibilities that a clean slate provides.

This year, I didn’t even hesitate on which planner to buy. Last year, I got a Plum Paper planner, and loved it so much, I got the same thing for this year. I made a few tweaks, since it’s a build-your-own planner, but I already love it!

You can read about my previous planner decisions HERE, where there are lots of links to more planner info as well.

If you’ve been with me awhile, then you know I like to track things, and I love all my lists.

Last year, I attempted the “25 in 2025” project challenge, but I only got to 17:

I sure tried to get more. On New Year’s Eve, I had a pile of five quilts laying here that only needed the binding whipped down (and none of them super large), but I just couldn’t sew fast enough. (But it does mean that I’ve already finished two quilts this year, so there’s that!)

And I debated whether to try for “26 in 2026”, but I finally decided to give it a try. Why not? So you know I had to make a tracker for it. This tracker, however, is not a set-in-stone 26-project tracker, but will work for tracking any quilts you manage to finish in 2026. I thought a generic-style tracker wouldn’t make me feel quite as guilty if I don’t make it all the way to 26. But I’m sure gonna try!

If you want to try, too, or if you simply want to list out the projects you finish each month, you can download this free tracker page for yourself right here: 26QuiltTracker

So I’m all set up for forging ahead. I have a lot to get done this year, and I intend to have fun doing it! How about you? Let’s get to it!

Thank you so much for this! Mine likely will not be all quilts, but if I could get 26 projects done this year, that would be amazing.

I stopped writing my list….writers cramp! I have decided since there is so many WIP’s and Kits…I am on over load at looking and deciding. I have 2 quilts since late 2024 to be bound or tied. And 2 patterns, fabric prepared to be cut, waiting since July 2025 and one fpp quilt that needs 11 more blocks to be completed then sewn together for a top. That’s it. I have signed up for some online classes, and promised I would show my daughters Mother in Law how to make a quilt. That is it for me for 2026. I will use your nifty tracker and hope to have it filled up before the years out…what could possibly go wrong! I will continue to find homes for some of these kits, last count 59! Oh, help my granddaughter with her curtains….what else could I of forgotten…

I’m in for the 26 Quilt/Project Tracker. Since I’ve gotten older, I don’t make as many quilts as I used to but do make smaller items and usually have a destination and how many to send so there’s a finish line. lol Another thing I try to do is when working on two projects, they can be leader/enders to each one or one that I have waiting in the wings. Thanks for sharing this idea, Shelly. Hugs…..

Thanks for the tracker worksheet. Will be interesting to see what gets accomplished this year. Our quilt guild is having us pick five UFO’s to work on, which will also keep me motivated–goals are good!

Shelly, You are such an inspiration. I really enjoy all the fun things you share with us so we can be better organized, more productive and better quilters.
I do miss our monthly block challenge and the motivation to complete more each month.

I wish you and your cowboy a very Happy Year!

😂😂😂I had 3 quilts to bind on NYE. I got 2 done before the clock struck midnight, the other one is still waiting. At least it’s an easy finish for 26. Thanks for the tracker template, I have high expectations for exceeding 26 finishes for the year.
