November 350 Blocks Report

Posted on November 30, 2021 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

We’re winding down — only one more month to go this year. I still have a lot of blocks I want to make! How about you?

I managed more than I thought I would this past month, which gave me a bit more of a boost than I had anticipated. I ended up with 50 blocks for November.

I finished all the blocks for this quilt, which you can read more about HERE, if you missed it earlier:

I made 7 more blocks for my Stitch Pink quilt. I want this one done soon, so I’m concentrating my efforts on it for the foreseeable future:

I made 4 of the low-volume blocks for my Limerick quilt. I’m only using this as a leader/ender project, so it’s going very slowly.

I made six 36-patch blocks, and seven 9-patch blocks (yes, there are 8 in this photo, but one of them was already counted) . . .

. . . 1 tiny HST block, two Maple Leaves, and a guild exchange block for fellow guild member, Ann:

And I worked on a few other miscellaneous odds and ends of stuff, in my usual flitting style!

It’s time for all of you to report in with your November totals. From what I can tell, lots of folks are finishing up gifts for the holidays, so there should be lots of blockmaking going on!

I have the Project Page updated with our most current totals (please double-check me if you think your total is incorrect). Our block goal for December is 31 blocks, which will get us to our goal of 350 for the year.

The prize winner for October is Pam D. She’s up to 1796 blocks so far — that’s gonna help our group total at the end of the year!

I hope you’re getting done all the things you want to do, and still taking time to enjoy this time of year.

  2. Amanda M. says:

I’ve been busy quilting and playing outside in November. I only created 15 blocks for 4 different projects. I’m hoping to get a few more projects finished but I’ve also got other stuff to do as well. I really need to spend time working on finishing projects and using my stash.

  3. Carissa says:

107 for the month, all done at the retreat. I have good progress one more, but Christmas outfits and pjs will be taking up most of my time this month.

  6. Louise says:

I finished 118 blocks this month.

I have finished every quilt that I started this year. I can’t say the same about starts from previous years. I have found some of those UFOs and finished them this year also. I am thankful to have such a prolific year.

  7. Linda Knight says:

I made 88 pinwheel blocks for a new quilt top and quilted and bound 3 small quilts for donation. That’s more than I have been able to do in a while and most of the blocks were made in the last 2 days of November.

  8. denniele says:

You had a good month! I can add 28 blocks. 🙂

  9. Barbara B says:

I completed 201 blocks in November.

  10. Kathy Parks says:

It was a great month for making blocks. I have a total of 68 for November. I was surprised that I got that many completed. WOO HOO

  11. PAULA M M says:

I have 6 “improve slabs” that look suspiciously like actual predetermined blocks! I am happy to be back to a little sewing and a lot less cleaning up…not that I am finished.

  12. Shirley Guier says:

I’m going to count mine as 60. 30 for Brunswick Forrest. I counted the block as 1, the setting as 1 and 6 for the border. I’ll count 30 for another quilt that the blocks were easy but there were enough for a queen size.

  13. Coralie Wallace says:

No blocks sewn but a lot of clearing out and finding partially done blocks. Bits and pieces from donated fabrics and blocks, I have sorted and intend to finish blocks and finish up projects found during the clear out. December should show progress. Thanks for hosting the block count.

  14. Cindy Wienstroer says:

Slow block making for me – 12 fish blocks as L&E, 2 star blocks & 2 blocks for pieces of gold. Did hand quilting on an old quilt to be given to friend’s uncle as he has cancer treatment – his mother had started it but never finished. Also made treat bags for my sister to give to her co-workers (14). So was busy but not block making. Now to finish quilting & make some table runners.

  15. Wendy Tuma says:

    I think 45 for me – I’m hoping I didn’t forget to count something!

  16. Rose Marie Smith says:

I made a total of 60 blocks this month. Finished one quilt and began 2 more.. Yippee. I pulled off community service quilts this month just so I could get more of my own stuff finished up. I guess that is working.

  17. Pam Desilets says:

Hi all. I finished 119 blocks for November. I have finished 11 pj bottoms, 6 table runners, and 5 quilts for Christmas this month. I have been sewing up a storm to finish everything. Still have three more quilts to be quilted. Happy sewing to all.
And a very happy and healthy Christmas too all.

  18. You did well in November. I added 26 blocks to my total. I was hoping for a few more but it could have been worst.

  19. Debra Freese says:

Only 15 blocks for me in November.
I finished up The Santa, the Tree, the Turkey & Me linen and wool appliqué quilt. So fun!
Also I finished the quilt along hosted by the Boston Fine Arts museum, promoting a current exhibition there. I spent a week with my daughter and we sewed/crafted/crocheted. I cheered her on as she made a Christmas table runner with scraps. She would rather sew garments.

  20. 10. It is what it is. Doubt December will be any better. But there’s always 2022!

  21. Randy Menninghaus says:

67!!! and 4 quilt finishes. ta da

  22. Randy says:

16 of this 67 were maple leafs

  23. Fran says:

Made 188 blocks in November. Unfortunately, I probably won’t make many in December.

  24. Julie M. says:

    Eight blocks for November

  25. Stephanie says:

Oh what a nice selection of blocks Shelly!
I was mostly working on a quilting marathon, but went away on a piecing retreat with friends, so blocks got made too – yay. 24x Heartstring blocks, 20x 18 patch jelly roll blocks, 22 (of 24) L blocks, and 8 Happy blocks for a total of 74.

  26. Marsha Parkhill says:

31 blocks for me. I’m doing two mystery quilts.

  27. Great to see all your progress! I have to say, I absolutely love your limerick quilt. Low volume quilts are among my faves to make….I never get tired of them.
32 blocks for me this month. I’m surprised I had time to make any at all. Once the holidays approach, I have little to no time to sew.

  28. Fran Courson says:

I love your blocks, especially the star. I did not see my number for November. If it has been posted, disregard this. I made 188 blocks in November. I finished my Stitch Pink quilt. Yea! Next month I will be lucky if I make 31 blocks.

  29. Karen E. says:

I made 118 blocks in November for a YTD total of 1468. I LOVE your quilt (the first of the photos) with all the triangles!

  34. Joan P. says:

52 blocks completed with only one more row to go on a leaf quilt I started some years ago. Thanks for motivating us to finish things. It’s so fun to see examples of all the progress you have made this month!

  35. Christi Bentley says:

71 for me…………working on Bonnie Hunter’s Bitcoin, finished the little leaves I had cut, and did some other stuff.

  36. I had a whopping 12 blocks in November. 🙁
My studio was torn apart for a couple of weeks and I didn’t finish much.

  37. Becky cogan says:

I finished 63 blocks for November
Making a version of Bonnie Hunter’s out of Christmas fabric.

  38. Marlene Clausen says:

57 for November. Made a quilt for a Christmas gift and pieced scrap 9-patch blocks for an on-going project. December will be very light as I have more Christmas gifts (no piecing) and some more quilting I need to get done before the end of the year . . . including that Christmas gift quilt.

  39. Maxine E says:

5 blocks were done. It was a crazy busy month and mostly lazy on my part trying to recuperate from traveling, son moving out (again) and family reunions. but I need to get my butt in gear because there is going to be another baby coming in February. (nephew having his first)

  40. Marilyn Holder says:

Total for November: 28. Two quilts to machine quilt and bind and move on to people. Leaders n enders are piling up and need a new project for them. Why doesn’t my pile of fabric get smaller?!?!

  41. Diana S says:

Didn’t get many blocks done this month. A total of 16! 6 more churn dash blocks for Barn Dance. 9 for Just the Nines. Old kit from Fat Quarter Shop and one very long overdue Siggie Block!!!! I did get 5 children’s size quilts bound and ready for Linus. Also made 30 over the collar dog scarves for our girls (Lady and Tiki) groomer. Back to making those for her full time now. And we did take a short vacation. Love looking at your blocks.

  42. Clara says:

16 blocks for November with more stacked to complete by my machine. I, too, have a “flitting” style. Several projects in the works and I choose to stitch whatever catches my eye or has deadline nearing.

  43. Susan S. says:

I did a bit of miscellaneous sewing, masks, baby clothes, boots, etc, but as for blocks, I made 9 churn dash blocks for a future grad gift, a long overdue siggie block, some placemats , tablerunner, napkins etc for my daughter, a paper pieced reindeer gnome Block for my granddaughter’s Christmas stocking . That would make 17 blocks for November. If I could count all the 2” half squares I had to make for the rest of the stocking I would add 2 more.

  44. Ginabeth says:

I had 45 this month. Started a new quilt for a sew along. It was supposed to be the whole month but the kit was late so I only did a few blocks from it. Worked had on a UFO. Got it to the “needs border” stage. But it will carry over until 2022.
Did a few appliqué blocks which are slow going.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and will have a fun Christmas.
Thanks for keeping our block total. A fun thing to keep us sewing.

  45. Deanna says:

Another 35 for a total of 889. How did that happen? Oh, yeah, there was a pandemic on and I am suddenly an empty nester. It has been interesting.

  46. Ginny says:

Glad you getting back to normal. Is there such a thing?I have a total of 60 blocks for Nov. Totally finished piecing two quilts that were not even in my plans or thoughts. Made a 40″ dresden table piece that I had made for my granddaughter’s wedding last year into a 60″ tree shirt. It was improvise almost every inch of the way. But it is done and under her tree.
    Merry Christmas to all

  47. Judy Sovereign says:

Lots of traveling and got 112 blocks done.

  48. Delana says:

In November I was able to make 36 blocks.

  49. Debbi says:

It’s hard for me to believe that I made zero blocks! Seems like I have been sewing, but that was borders and block assembly not blocks. 🥲 I did longarm one old quilt top that now needs binding but will be gifted soon. I’ve been busy cutting out blocks before going to quilt retreat so maybe I’ll make up the block count next month. I’m just way behind! Wanted to make 5 Christmas quilts but haven’t even started any of the sewing so that’s slowly becoming a pipe dream! Kind of hoping for finishing two now. Taking vacation the first half of November sure made the month go fast!

  50. christopher thomas says:

Well I got 346 blocks done for the month of November. Some of them was for special Christmas cards and a lot of scraps for a few scrappy quilts that I am working on. Why does it seem like the scraps keep getting bigger when that is all that you are using? LOL

Going to be working on some more quilt blocks this evening. Trying to finish up a few things before the end of the year.

The new sewing room is almost ready and will post some pictures on facebook.

Hope everyone is having a great December and Happy quilting

  51. Beverly Hovis says:

    Only 18!
    Lots of deer season company!
Finished and gifted 2 lap quilts.

  52. Mary D. says:

I have 312 for the month. It feels like cheating because 252 of them were hourglass blocks, which are so simple. I am making small quilts for our charity project. 52 of the remaining 60 were made earlier in the year and I forgot to post them. I made 8 more to put with them, enough for 3 charity quilts of a different design than the hourglass ones. Now I have 8 small quilts to quilt and bind by the meeting Tuesday night. I think I can, I think I can!

  53. Ceil Podzimek says:

I only managed 5 blocks this month, all part of the background for my guild’s BOHO Heart quilt along. I hope to do better in December but my to-be-quilted pile has grown!

  54. Marsha Y. says:

You always amaze me Shelly with all that you get done in a month!!! Zero is my count this month. I have been very busy helping my sister finish her quilt, plus trying to get ready for Christmas. I am hoping since we are having our family Christmas a week early, that I may get to sew the last part of the month.

  55. My total for November was 79 blocks. I also made 2 pillows for a Christmas gift and quilted a small wallhanging.

  56. Christine says:

I love seeing the pictures of your blocks – an inspiring variety! I’ve made 22 in November.

  57. Here’s my count for November

Hope I am not too late. I had 12 blocks this month. One block for a pillow, 2 for piecing in a flannel panel quilt, 4 for my winter Zing table runner, and 5 in a Cha Cha Chatable runner. November was a busy month.

  59. katie z. says:

  60. Barb Roberts says:

I managed only 14 blocks for November.

  61. Diane says:

Last month I did not report my 20 double nine patch blocks (Oct). November was ZERO. No blocks. But for December I finished the rest of those double nine patch block – 29 double nine patch blocks. It’s been a nine patch year.
