June 350 Blocks Report

Posted on June 30, 2014 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

OK, so the year is half over! Can you believe it?350button14

Some of you are well over 350 blocks already! I’m impressed.

How did you do this month?

Me? I got 36 more blocks made.

One was an exchange block for guild that I forgot to take a picture of.

I made another one of these little things:tinyHST4

I made 24 blocks for 2 quilts that I’ll show you a bit later, once I’m allowed to.

And I’m currently working on this. The pattern is All A-Flutter by Bonnie Olaveson of Cotton Way. I have 10 of the blocks made.Flutterpattern

I started this quilt at a Paula Party at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop this past month. What’s a Paula Party, you ask? It’s a day where we go work on a specific project chosen by them, and they serve us food made from Paula Deen recipes. And yes, I go more for the food and the quilting company than anything — I have enough UFOs! Here’s one of my blocks, still freshly wrinkled from being shoved in my carry-around tote:AllFlutterblok

It’s layer cake friendly, but I’m drowning in fabric here, so I used my scraps. I’m using all cowboy fabrics. Just let me state for the record right now, that this entire quilt did not even make a small dent in the cowboy fabric stash that I have. Hmm . . .

So that’s it for me. Gives me a grand total now of 224. I’m still ahead of the game! I was beginning to wonder if I’d be able to keep up, as slow as I was going there for awhile.

Now it’s your turn. Comment, post, link, email, or contact me with your totals for June, and I’ll get the page updated with your new totals. I’ve got the Project page updated with the new total for July, which is 30 more blocks, for a yearly total of 200 blocks! We’re on our way to 350 — woohoo!

And, I was so busy last month, I forgot to draw a winner for the May prize package, so I’ll announce that now. It is:

Maxine

There you have it! Now — go forth and sew! Have a great month of July!

Made 161 blocks this month! Keeping track has made me realize how busy I actually was.

How did the ties on Father’s Day end up?

  2. Janet Volz says:

I actually got to make 2 blocks this month. It feels sooooooo good to get back at the sewing machine.

  6. Judy says:

2 weeks of vacation and a granddaughters surgery claimed a lot of June. I only finished 17 blocks. July should give me a little more time at home.

  7. KT says:

I got 38 done this month–12 stars, 14 spools, plus 12 other assorted blocks for 5 different projects. I also managed to get one quilt top together–need to quilt it this month.

  8. K80 says:

    37 for me!

Shoot as I look at KTs post above…I should have done at least one more to keep up with “myself” LOL

I’m happy with what I did, 2 weeks of vacay and still managed to get 3 UFOs done…This challenge sure helps!!

It’s been a while since I’ve remembered to post my status here. I’ve been doing a lot of sewing the past few months. Since my last update in March, I have completed 432 blocks! It feels a little bit like cheating since I usually do blocks with a lot of pieces, but 333 of those were simple rail fence blocks. I’m now up to a grand total of 452 blocks for the year! I can’t believe it.

  10. Sue Hook says:

I did 292 – I made some smaller blocks and several 4 squares – but I completed three quilts this month.

  11. Cindy Dahlgren says:

Love your new WIP! That’s an adorable pattern.

  12. Deanna says:

It was a better sewing month for me. I am counting 42 blocks: 2 mug rug, 13 Schnibble and 27 on the Calico Rose quilt. So, my total is now 149. If I get a post up with pictures later I will update this, but, in the meantime, thank you for the encouragement and inspiration.

  13. Andrea says:

    I had 108 last month.

  14. Bari says:

I feel like such a slacker after looking at everyone else’s numbers! Holy toledo, Batman!

I completed a measly 8 blocks in June for a total of 217 for the year.

Your newest project is beautiful and I love the fabrics!

  15. Mary says:

I got 29 blocks made in June.

  16. Sherrie says:

    Hi Shelly,

Hurray! I have blocks to report this month.
I have a total of 46 blocks completed. And some that are in process……….so with luck there will be more next month. Isn’t quilting fun!

  19. Susan says:

Love the idea of a Paula Party! I also like the Cotton Way pattern you are currently doing. Congratulations on a healthy monthly block total! Mine isn’t so great – 21 this month. Susan’s block count

  20. KatieQ says:

My total for June was 53. I can’t believe how fast this year is going. Katie Z., the quilter who made the comment above me, had the same total. Maybe, that’s a sign I should play that number in the lottery.

  21. I completed 50 this month for a grand total so far of 238. Thanks for this challenge! I did not realize how much I actually got done!
