June 350 Blocks Report

Posted on July 1, 2019 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Well! I’m a tidget late getting this post up. I’ve been stricken by some evil summer stomach bug, and there’s been a few days I could barely get out of bed. You know something’s not right when it’s 100 degrees out, and you feel the need to wear a sweatshirt and long pants! I’m on Day 6, feeling a bit like Rip van Winkle, but hoping I’m on the upswing now. I have stuff to do, dang it!

I’ve gotten further behind on several projects, and there are several I’m working on that I’m not going to count the blocks for until I’m finished, just to avoid a mistake in counting them twice by accident. If I’m in charge of this (and I sometimes wonder), I can’t be caught cheating, now, can I?

So this month, my total is 15 blocks. Not that great, but it’ll all come out in the wash when I can count all the ones I’m waiting to count — I hope.

I did 4 blocks for a new baby quilt I’ll show you soon.

I did 3 more Christmas ornaments.

I’m counting Jess’s t-shirt quilt as 7 blocks (you can see it HERE).

And I finished Block 3 of the Hospital Sketches BOM:

How did you do this month? I hope you got more done than I did.

It’s time to report in with your June totals, and let us all know how you did.

I have the Project page updated as of this writing, and hopefully I can be better about keeping it updated more often this month. Our new monthly block goal for July is 39 blocks, for a total of 192 for the year. I’m barely keeping up — I’m so glad that so many of you are way ahead of me!

Our May prize winner is Stephanie, who is up to 265 blocks for the year so far — woohoo!

I’m wishing you all a wonderful 4th of July holiday, and a happy, healthy, and productive month of quilting!

I managed 46 blocks this past month. A quilt top (31 blocks) Odd number, I have an orphan block now. Had one 10 inch square in the mix! 10 String blocks and then 5 blocks for another yahoo group! It was a busy month otherwise so happy with my total. Love seeing what you’ve been working on.

  2. KT says:

I finished 55 blocks this month. Working on a medallion style quilt that needs lots of blocks! Can’t wait to see all you’ve been working on–love your hospital sketches block!

  3. Sharon Gratz says:

Life really took a turn in June and I only got 7 blocks made.

  4. Not a big month, made 17 blocks. More time in the gardens, less time to quilt.

  5. JanetD says:

I finished 2 blocks, with a 3rd one laid out ; 40-something pieces! Didn’t help that I kept cutting things wrong so had to redo. Finally realized quitting for the time was a good idea. Your hospital sketches block is beautiful. So sorry you’ve been sick, I think summer bugs are the worst.

  6. Cathy Wight says:

Bad month. First our retreat was cancelled due to flooding in Missouri. Then, Multiple doctor appointments for a painful knee. MRI showed torn meniscus and Bakers cyst. So had an injection and start PT next week. So only 12 blocks for me in June.

  7. Becky says:

I’ve done no sewing for May and June!

  8. Maxine E says:

20 blocks this month. It’s been so hot lately and the sewing mojo is gone. I have not been in the mood to sew. I have been in the mood of cleaning out the cupboards and the pantry. So, that’s a great feeling of actually knowing what we have and don’t have – grocery wise. I hope my sewing mojo comes back soon.

  9. Debbi says:

June was a better month for me, I count 29 blocks completed. Not anywhere near the goal but for me it’s great.

Hope you feel better soon and get your energy back! It’s so frustrating to be laid up and miserable.

  12. Karen E. says:

I made 123 blocks in June—quite a few string blocks, which are fast, several 16-patch blocks and several 3” nine-patches made of Jo Morton fabrics. I’m sorry to hear of your summer bug—they’re the WORST! I always enjoy seeing pics of the blocks you’ve made. I’m not a gardener and hate the heat, so I’m happy to stay busy in my well-air-conditioned sewing room.

  13. Barbara B says:

    100 blocks for June

  27. Debi says:

Even though I feel like my mojo vanished, I managed to squeak out 24 blocks last month! I had binding to finish, and that seems like a chore to me, but they are done, and will be able to get back to fun Quilting now!

  28. Wanda marvel says:

    4 blocks for june

  29. Beverly Vendt says:

Not counting as I am waiting for the quilt top to be done so I don’t get confused. Was out of town most of month. I have a good motivation to catch up, but can’t find much time. I will have to catch up in the fall.

  30. Louise says:

This has been a tough month for me, so I spent a ton of time in my sewing room and made 226 blocks.

  33. Joan says:

8 blocks done this month, but 4 quilts finished.

  34. Sherry says:

50 blocks for me. Working on QOV quilts for a presentation in November. Getting to hot to go outside so more sewing time!!!

  35. Marlene Clausen says:

62 for June. Am finishing up 35 blocks for QOV top #2 today. Then, adding borders to it and another one, so I can get 3 tops in the mail to Jean in Liberty who will take them to be quilted. There is such a demand this time of year. Also, putting five tote bags in the box w/them, made from scraps of QOV’s. No backs to sew them into!! Jean gives them to wives, daughters, and friends of vets receiving QOV’s and also to volunteers who put in so much time on the quilts. Have a happy 4th, and hope your “bug” will be history very soon.

  36. Susan Nixon says:

The fabric on your block 3 is so beautiful. What a stunning block it makes. June Total is 56, and first half year’s total is 201.

  37. Ginny says:

50 blocks for June. Two quilts back from quilter, so two binding to get done. Most of my 50 was a christmas quilt that is small but lots of small blocks. Hope you get the bug gone and back at what you love to do.

  38. Clara Chandler says:

54 blocks for June! I’m in the home stretch for completing a BOM from my LQS. It was a mystery and the colors I chose may not be the greatest for the pattern but it will be a quilt top for our community quilts at the guild. Hope you are feeling better when you read this comment.

  39. Marsha Y. says:

I was hoping for a productive month, but it didn’t happen. I did get 12 blocks made before the pain in my right foot got really bad. Now I am in a boot for 4 weeks to heal my posterior tibial tendinitis. Will be learning to sew with my left foot during July!!! Hope you get to feeling better!!!

  40. Amanda M. says:

Sure hope you get over your bug soon! This past month I made 63 blocks for 5 different projects but had I spent more time with the iron I would’ve had more than that. However, in this hot weather my ironing is done early of a morning or on rainy days. Too much of my time here lately has been spent in a friend’s pool. I have too many projects that need attention more to be spending all that time floating!

  41. Christi Bentley says:

Summer flu is the worst. Hope you are feeling better. I only have 16 blocks this month. Of course, one of the things I worked on was my guild challenge project and that had 105 pieces in a 14″ square, so that took some extra time. And I have been frustrated with my long arm, so that frustration has seeped over into my piecing and I just didn’t spend as much time. I am excited with the start of my challenge project though.

  42. Mary Durham says:

Sorry you’ve been feeling bad. Hope all is well by now.
I have no blocks to report for June. Can you believe it after the big number in May? I’ve just been too busy with grandkids, feeding hay helpers, yard and garden work, and quilting for other people. July has got to be better.

  43. Linda Knight says:

I only got 8 blocks done but I did quilt a top that I finished. It’s one of mine and Rose Marie’s “sister’s challenges”.

  44. Danice says:

Somehow, I finished 5 blocks in June. Not too good, is it?

  45. SharonG says:

    36 for me

  46. I did 58 blocks for June

  47. Shirley Guier says:

Star Storm = 10. Cherrywood challenge =4. Another leather Goddess =4. Carolina Lilly quilt=34 and 4 for guild friendship. Total 56.

  48. Pam M says:

8 blocks for a baby quilt. I’ve made all the components for a quilt they are not in block form yet. I plan on taking the components to a retreat in August, then I can count the blocks.

  49. A bit late reporting I think 28 blocks for me if I haven’t reported in. It’s a bit crazy here and I don’t know if I am coming or going. lol
