My cousin’s youngest daughter had a baby boy back in March. Brooks Tyler arrived on the scene a week early, and is already 3 months old! Look at those cheeks!
Of course, I had to make him a quilt.
I struggled with deciding on a color scheme at first. I was planning to try and match her nursery colors — turquoise and dark gray — but when I saw one of the first photos of him, he was dressed in a woodland creatures onesie, and I knew right then that’s what I would go with.
So I chose the aqua-ish prints from a line called Effie’s Woods by Deb Strain for Moda. (I got it at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop in Brunswick, Missouri, and it wasn’t that long ago, so they may still have some of it left, if you really need some!)

I used my Baby, Baby! pattern to make the quilt.

I originally designed the Baby, Baby! pattern to make a quilt for Brooks’ cousin, Hunter, when she was born, so it was fitting that they both have similar quilts.
Also, it’s a fast finish, and it shows off the prints nicely, and it can be personalized with the baby’s name. I had to be a bit more careful with this one, since my fabrics were directional, which I hadn’t planned on when I started, but it all worked out. I made the smaller version, with no borders. It finished at 36″ x 46″.
I chose a brown Andover Dimples basic for the appliqué letters and the binding.

I backed it with one of the prints from the same line:

The quilting is a simple all-over meander, except I quilted around the letters of the name and not over the tops of them. Then I pre-washed it so it would be all soft and snuggly!
