My next new pattern . . .
This pattern was designed to use the Moda pre-cut hexagons called Honeycombs.
But never fear, if you don’t want to use a Honeycomb, the instructions include how to make it without that, just in case you were wanting to maybe possibly use up some scrappage?
The pattern is meant for teaching you how to do set-in seams, a technique that, once mastered on this easy quilt, you can apply to other quilts that might have set-in seams. You’ll no longer be afraid of them!
The pattern is available in my Etsy shop, in both print and PDF versions.
You can see that there’s never a shortage of help when doing a photo shoot here at the farm. I also had no choice but to shoot this one on a sunny day, which is also not helpful. I’ll leave you with some of the outtakes . . .
My faithful shadow whenever I’m outdoors, is Oscar.
He’s so faithful, I’ve kicked him and tripped on him by accident repeatedly, but he still insists on being right underfoot. As you can see, he’s very helpful.
And when nothing seemingly important is going on, he plays. Quilts make good tents, don’t you know?
He even follows me when I go ride my horse. I can’t even see him, the grass is so tall, but I can hear him meowing as he’s following along. Now THAT’s dedication. And he can really strike a pose!
So can the horses. Cats do NOT have the market cornered on curiosity. Chip cannot stand to be left out of any photo shoot (hence the reason he’s in the cover photo).
He even tries for the best possible angle. Do I look better like this?
Once he’s finished, Bonnie comes to see what all the hubbub is about. Will that thing bite?
Take my picture like you did Chip’s.
Does this angle make my nose look too big?
Here’s another shot. Too much sun and shadows on this one . . . but you can see the quilting here.
It doesn’t help that I’m simply no good at photography. But I’ll keep trying. Maybe practice will eventually lead to being better, huh?
Love the quilt and hexies are the rage now !!!!!
Love your title for the new pattern.
Nice way to use those Moda Hexies too.
And learn how to sew set in seams to boot (cowboy pun…)
Love it, Shelly! I didn’t know a thing when I started quilting and my first quilt was a charm quilt made of? You guessed it – hexies!! I still don’t know that I do set-in seams that well, so maybe I need this pattern??
Love your “helpers”!!
I’m not so crazy about hexes since they are the main ingredient in Grandmother’s Flower Garden and I hand quilted one of those for my mother years ago. But even if I’m not crazy about hexes, I would be even crazier not to want anything that Shelly might give me. She is my favorite friend.
Your quilt is lovely. The pictures are enhanced with your cat and horse.
I have never worked with hexagons, but this quilt looks as if it may be fun….will have to tackle this project one of these days….thanks for sharing!
Is the entire quilt made of hexes? Or is the background quilted to appear like it is?
So cute, Shelly! And I love all your animal shots and captions. You are so cute and clever! This looks like a lot of fun. Man, you HAVE been busy!
I love your new quilt pattern! The poses with the animals are fantastic!

I love your photo shoot subjects. They add so much fun to the pictures! Pretty pattern also!
