The 350 Blocks Project, September Report

Posted on September 30, 2013 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Well, how did you do this month?

September seemed really short to me.

Going to my guild’s retreat sure helped me out, and I managed to add 48 blocks to my total this month. At least I’m not falling any further behind for a change.

At this late date, I can’t afford to — there’s only 3 months left to get to 350! I’m still marveling at and applauding those of you who have already made it and are working on your second (or even third) set of 350 blocks for the year — way to go!

Here’s a sampling of some of mine from this month . . .

I made 3 more tiny HST blocks. Here’s 2 of them:2HSTs

I made this block for my guild’s block project this month:SeptGuildBlock

I made 5 blocks for a quilt I can’t show you just yet, 2 blocks for a community service quilt I forgot to take a picture of, and 16 blocks for a mystery quilt that was also a guild project. I’ll show it to you next week.

I made 20 more blocks for my Scrap Jar Stars quilt. It’s coming along nicely now, thanks to that big boost. The Scrap Jar Stars Quilt is a free tutorial offered up by Amber over at A Little Bit Biased. If you want the tutorial, click HERE. It’s a fun quilt to make! Amber has lots of other tutorials, too. I found this particular one thanks to my friend, Karin. Here’s just one of my blocks:ScrapJar1

I made the top of this table runner, which I’m counting as one big block, and you can read all about it HERE and get the free pattern for it as well:BarcelonaBubbles

So now it’s your turn! Let us all know what you got accomplished this month. We were supposed to have made another 30 blocks, to get us up to a total of 259 for the year so far. Did you make it?

Leave a comment here with your new totals, or email me or contact me to get yours updated. I’ve updated the 350 Blocks Page with information on the new totals for October.

And here are the prize winners for August . . .

For meeting the goal of 229 blocks, the winner is: Kay

For simply participating, no matter how many you have done, it’s Charlotte.

Congratulations, ladies, and thanks for playing along! Now go get stitching! If October flies by as fast as September did, we’re gonna need all the time we can get!

I need to get back to work on my Scrap Jar Quilt!!! I was hoping to be a lot further along with my projects this year than I am. Life seems to keep getting in the way.

Desertsky Quilting September blocks. Only 29, but I have 294, so I’m still on track! I like doing this! I hope you’re going to continue to hold us accountable next year. I like your Scrap Jar Star block, so I’m going to go check that out.

54 for the month and (drum roll please) 351 for the year. When I did the math I was so surprised. It just happened. One block at a time. Thanks again for this motivational challenge!

And I am making a scrap jar stars quilt someday.

I had a great month with 65 blocks completed for a new total of 152 blocks. Here’s the link to my summary post

I want to post 12 blocks this month. Seems like I did a lot more than that. The twelve blocks I am counting are actually 12 rows of a table topper made entirely of hst’s and plain squares…………but set together so cleverly that I had to assemble them into rows from each side and meet in the middle before sewing them into a finished row. Brain work!!

My total for the year is 843! Wow! October should boost this number to 900 as I’ve already finished another 44 this week.

Add on another 56 to my total!

Your 100 days challenge will help me with the remainder of the year. Yippee! I’m churning out so much more because of it. Thanks for encouraging me on. (Now, if only I could make that work for housework and cooking…..)

    Hey Shelly:
I am adding together my August and September totals: 10 more hexies, 2 paper pieced stars for my guild’s new red & white raffle quilt and a free-pieced cabin with windows and door on a “made fabric” background for the Architecture Challenge at 15 Minutes Play that I think I have to count as 1 block.

Grand Total for August & September = 13!

I hope I can meet the goal by the end of the year. Now that the cool weather has arrived I’ll be sewing a lot more!
