The 350 Blocks Project, March Report

Posted on April 1, 2013 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

So . . . how did you all do last month?

I notice that some of you are almost 2/3 of the way there, and this is just the first quarter wrapping up! Lots of you are just plain overachieving. Most of you are putting me to shame!

My own count went up by 9 this month. A far cry from the 31 I was supposed to get, right? I hope all of you did better — I know some of you did.

Here’s some of what I made. Two more blocks for my Postage Stamp quilt:PostageStamp

And another block for my HST quilt, design yet to be determined (right now I’m just still making and collecting a pile of these blocks in all different sizes):HSTBlock

I also made 4 sections of a medallion quilt, so I’m counting those as 4 “blocks” (otherwise, I’d never get ahead). I’ll show you those when I get the quilt finished.

And I made 2 other blocks that you’ll get to see tomorrow if you check back.

So here it is time for all you participants to let me know your final March totals by Friday, April 5. You can leave a comment on this post, and if you write your own post about it, be sure and leave us a link. You can also email me your total, or use the contact form HERE. But you need to give me your updated total, and let me know you’re participating, so you can get in on the prize drawings. On Friday, I’ll draw one random winner from everyone who met the goal of at least 76 blocks, and one random winner from all the participants in general (excluding myself, of course).

Oh, and I get confused easily, so when you send me your totals, can you let me know if it’s just for March (and I’m supposed to add it to your already posted total), or if it’s your complete total altogether? That way I won’t have to guess, or bug you and ask. Thanks!

Now I’m off to dig up some prizes . . . check back tomorrow to see my other two blocks, and get the free tutorial for them!

Hi–You did better than me this month. Only 3 blocks for the month. I had a bad cold, so I am behind. I think my total is okay though. Have a great April Fool’s Day. Looking forward to see you next weekend at the retreat.

I did… 0 blocks in March. I’ve been assembling a quilt top from the blocks I completed in February but have not created any new blocks. Hopefully I’ll do more in April!

No blocks for me to report. March was a crazy month at work 🙁 I have a lot of catching up to do!!!

  4. During March, I made my puppy pinwheel quilt which has 72 pinwheels and 4 puppy blocks. I also made one block for the challenge quilt. I had 111 blocks which brings me to 188 total.

I did 35 for March, which makes a total of 89. Way behind the leaders, but ahead of myself last month. 🙂 Thank you for hosting, encouraging and inspiring….

Block Report Post I did 58 in March, for a total of 119. Thanks for doing this. I have never kept track of blocks before!

I haven’t posted anything to my blog this month.. I did manage to get 50 blocks done this month… Hopeful this next weekend I will be able to work on my blog and get all my pictures posted…

So my total for March is 50.
328 is my grand total for they year so far. I’m with Susan, I have never kept track of how many block I have done… This is great… Thanks

  8. I sent you my total for March today. 🙂 Hey, those postage stamp blocks should count for more than one! 🙂 I have been thinking about these star blocks I have to finish. Each one as 8 little tiny log cabin blocks that have to be made to go in the one block. I decided when I make those, I will count each log cabin as a block, and then the star block with all those sewn into as well as the star as one block. It’s enough work to justify it! So, I think you counting the parts of your medallion quilt is just fine!

My total for the year is 210 blocks… Much better than last year!

Hi! I just returned from a 12 day trip to see my daughter who lives in Berlin, Germany. Lots of sewing days lost, but I did get to do some fabric shopping there. 🙂 My total before I left for March was 28 blocks. I’m not sure what my total for the year is. Mostly continuing on a scrap quilt project, but I also put together a baby quilt with 12 16-patch blocks from the leftovers from another top I made years ago. So glad to clear out another UFO. I’m going to quilt it; hopefully by the end of this month and donate it.

I finished 37 blocks in March for a total of 82. I was waiting to blog about it to update you, but work has been crazy the last few weeks, so no blog posts here.

I need to correct the number of blocks I told you. It looks like in my previous comment, I added my March blocks to the total goal through February rather than adding it to the blocks I had actually completed. These are the correct numbers:
    March – 37
    Total – 119
And, I have actually had a chance to blog about it now.
