The 350 Blocks Project, 2021 Winners

Posted on January 8, 2022 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Wrapping up yet another year of the 350 Blocks Project! That went fast! 2021 was our tenth annual — that entire 10 years went fast!

I have the Project Page updated with our final totals. I’ll leave it up for another week, so you can all take a look at it, if you wish.

And now, without further ado . . .

Here’s our year-end statistics!

2021 statistics:

  • • We had 105 participants sign up.
  • • Of those 105, we had 96 reporting participants.
  • • Of those 96 reporting participants, 80 were considered active participants, by reporting in at least 6 times during the year.
  • • Of those 80 active participants, 54 made it past the 350 mark!
  • Fifteen of us made it past 1000! And . . . three of us made over 2000 blocks — WOW!
  • • The greatest number of blocks made by one participant was once again Christopher, with 5644 blocks. Wow! He’s a dedicated sort who loves to stay busy!
  • • Barbara B. came in second with 2184.
  • • And Pam D. holds third, with a total of 2027.
  • • The average number of blocks made by our group each month was 4742. That’s a lot of sewing, folks!
  • • The total number of blocks made in 2021 by our entire group was 56,904. Wow! We beat last year’s group total!

I’ve put an updated infographic on the Project Page, so you can see the year-by-year comparisons (for 9 of the years). I don’t have statistics from our very first year, because I didn’t realize it was gonna turn into such a big deal, so I didn’t keep track!

We ARE doing this again, and I hope you’ll all join me. And tell your friends, so they can join, too! What’s to lose? There are lots of prizes along the way!

Also, our star blockmaker, Christopher, is going to add a little something as an additional optional challenge for us this year, so stay tuned for more on that.

So, before we kick off the 2022 350 Blocks Project, we need to finish up with this year’s prizes . . .

Our December monthly prize winner is Shirley B. Shirley ended up with a total of 174 blocks this year!

For the Project as a whole, there’s a Grand Prize, and three other prizes. I decided once again to do all gift certificates, and they’re a bit less than in past years because . . . let’s be honest . . . this project doesn’t have sponsors (or generate income), and I’ve been a lot unemployed since September 2nd. And Ranger and his buddies still need to eat! So here’s the breakdown:

The Grand Prize is a $75 gift certificate, and the other three are $30 each. This way, the winners can buy exactly what they want, instead of me picking something random for them that they might not like.

The Grand Prize winner is drawn from among all the participants who made it past the 350 blocks goal. The other prize winners are drawn at random from among all the active participants, regardless of how many blocks you made, and it also doesn’t matter if you’ve already won a monthly prize — your name gets thrown back in for these prizes. The only rule is that you must have reported in at least 6 times throughout the year to be considered an active participant, even if you reported in late, and even if you reported a ZERO for the month.

So here we go . . . The Grand Prize winner is:

Barb R. (1067 blocks)

The other three prize winners, by random drawing, and in no particular order, are:

Joan (723 blocks)

Crystal (333 blocks)

Carissa (754 blocks)

Congratulations to all the winners, and as always, thank you ALL so very much for joining in and playing along with the Project this year. I appreciate all of you taking the time and making the effort to participate.

We’ll kick off the 2022 350 Blocks Project on the 15th. I don’t think the rules are gonna change much — it’s still easy, free, and has prizes! So be sure and check back in to get signed up!

  1. That is a lot of blocks made this year and years past. Wow.
It was a slow year for me, but I hope to make larger items in 2022. January hasn’t been a great start to that, but….it can only go uphill.
Thank you for doing what you do.

All I can say is WOW! That is a lot of blocks! I so appreciate you offering this challenge and keeping track. The prizes are very generous and really I think you could charge a small admission to participate. It’s a lot to track of it all, do the prompts, etc.

I am totally in again. I wasn’t so good the last quarter to report my totals to you, but I enjoyed keeping track. You recorded 161 but I actually finished at 316 – yay!! I have already started a blog post for my January totals in 2022 when it arrives. I will try to remember to get my numbers to you better this year.
