The 10th Annual Final Countdown

Posted on December 28, 2018 by prairiemoonquilts in The Final Countdown

My, my, 2018 went by in a flash! And I can hardly believe that this is the 10th year we’ve been doing The Final Countdown!

But I still NEED to do it. As usual, I still have many things to deal with and organize. How about you?

These last few days of the year are always my last chance to wrap up as many loose ends as possible so I can start the new year off fresh. I’m never as organized as I’d like to be at the beginning of a year, but each year, I think I get a little bit better. And then there are some things that seem to remain the same, and complete organization eludes me. Is it the same for you? Or have you finally gotten it all under control?

I’m planning to make some major changes this coming year based on things I’ve learned about myself in past years of doing this. I hope I can pull it off! I’m using this year’s Final Countdown as a good starting point. Would you like to join me?

If you’ve joined me for The Final Countdown before, have you learned anything about your own habits and organization/working style from past years of doing this? I’ll be thrilled to have you join in again!

If you’re new here, welcome! I hope you’ll join in this time, and start 2019 off a little more organized.

Here’s how it works . . .

  • • Beginning tomorrow, I’ll post a task for us to do each day for three days in a row; a different task each day.
  • • Your job is to do the task, if you so desire (totally optional).
  • • After you’ve done the task, leave a comment on the post that you did it, and how it went for you. If you want to write a blog post of your own and link back to it, that’s great — we all love stories, and photographic evidence! If you’re already so organized that you don’t even need to do the task, you can still leave a comment to be eligible for the prizes.
  • • I’m offering up a prize for each task, so be sure and leave a comment for each task that you complete. You’re only eligible for the prize for that task if you did the task and left your comment (or left a comment that you already had it done or didn’t need to do it). I try to make the prizes something that will help you with organizing and not cause you more clutter or disorganization. If you do all three tasks, you’ll have three chances to win. How many you choose to do is completely up to you. Easy!

I’ll give you till January 7th to complete all the tasks and leave your comments. I’ll draw for the three winners late in the day on the 7th. That should give you time to take a good crack at all three tasks.

So there you have it — simple rules, and prizes!

I’ll post our first task tomorrow, so be sure to check back in. Or if you’re not subscribed already, you can subscribe to the “News From the Ranch” using the form at top right, so you’ll automatically be notified when the tasks are posted.

Are you ready?

I may have to cheer everyone on from the sidelines, at least for the first few days. I am in the middle of a surprise renovation of my quilt room (painting, new fabric storage unit), so my whole room is a little chaotic. I’m hoping it will be organized when I’m done, at least for a few days!

I have participated for two years and have been looking forward to the tasks all month–It has really helped me organize and prioritize..and I am in better shape at the end of this year. I have the charts I made the last two years and will be able to be more reasonable in my expectations for 2019. I am in!!! Absolutely I am IN.

    Hi Shelly,
while I may be a little late I have been trying to do some cleaning up on my own. There is something about the New Year and trying to finish as many UFO’sso not to carry them over. I have been trying to finish all the knitted gifts I couldn’t complete for Christmas. You know the left mitten to match the right one completed!
I am looking forward to challengeover the next few days.

  33. Bonnie Epperson says:

I have completed task 3 with prioritization in electronic format. Yahoo! First time I have done this. I have 68 UFO’s.
