Over on Instagram, @elleluna and @lindsayjeanthomson are hosting #The100DayProject.
I love the idea of 100 days for doing something, and I’ve written about how I use 100-day segments for accomplishing things before (click HERE to read about it).
So I’ve decided to join in on this Instagram challenge, too. You pick something that you plan to do for 100 days in a row, make up your hashtag, and set to work. It started April 4th, and I landed on the hashtag #100daysofhandstitching for my project.
I’ve been procrastinating on lots of hand-stitching projects, and this is just the boost I need to make myself sit down for a little bit every day and move some of those projects forward, and possibly get some of them finished!
So far, I’ve done some hand quilting:
Worked on this fun little appliqué project, inspired by this great piece of Polka Dot Stitches fabric by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet:
And I hand stitched my Cathedral Window panel to a square of fabric for the front of this pillow:
And sewed the buttons on the back:
This pillow was partially made from a pattern by A Spoonful of Sugar Designs. It’s a downloadable PDF pattern from their Etsy shop. My Cathedral Window units are smaller than hers, and I do mine completely by hand, so I had to make adjustments to the assembly of the pillow, but I still recommend the pattern if you want to make this pillow. She shows you how to do a lot of it by machine. (The fabrics I used are from Olive’s Flower Market by Lella Boutique for Moda.)
During the next 100 days, I hope to work on a lot more of my hand-stitching projects, so I’ll give you an update every now and then.
Are you on Instagram? Would you like to join in on #The100DayProject? It’s not too late. Just decide what you’ll do, make up your hashtag, and jump right in! Find me over there @prairiemoonquilts, and if you decide to join in, let me know, so I can look at what you’re working on for the next 100 days!
