Studio Organizing, Week 28

Posted on July 9, 2015 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

So, how did you do organizing your UFOs?

I managed to locate a few more, and my list is up to 96 at this point. I’m telling myself it has to get worse before it can get better.

I’m also very close to finishing one, so even if I find another one this week, my number shouldn’t grow too much (if I can keep myself from starting something else)!

Here’s this week’s task:

Fix something that’s broken

In my office I have two shelves that need to have their brackets reinforced. They’ve sort of wiggled loose, which I don’t find surprising in an old house, but I’m planning to recruit My Cowboy to help me put bigger reinforcement brackets on them, and get them rehung so they don’t completely fall down.

Do you have something broken that needs fixing?

Something that needs to be mended?

Something that is annoying you that needs to be repaired before it gets worse?

Remember: A stitch in time saves nine!

Fix it now before it causes a real catastrophe, or . . . simply to make yourself feel better!

File your complaints in the comments below about the annoying thing that is bothering you that you need to fix, then get to it! Good luck!

I’ll be repairing clothing that is hanging on my cabinets. They are an eye sore, so this might just make the room feel better and give me space for all the quilts I need to quilt.

  2. I have two pictures that have been unhung forever. But the wall needs to be painted before I hang them. This is my major complaint, but alas I won’t be making any progress this week as it is the busiest week of my months.

  3. I have a shelf of fabrics, neatly lined up like books, for which one of the supports gave way. I’m going to get those fabrics pulled off of there and those supports replaced with heavier ones. Shouldn’t take a lot of time; I just need to make myself do it!

Yes I have something{s}that needs to be fixed. I promise that I will fix the switch plate first thing in the morning. {Now if only I don’t put it off!!!!}LOL

Well we did fix our water system out to our camp. So we at least can do dishes and clean up a little. But I am on quilt strike for the summer. I do have to finish my daughter’s quilt, but that will be when I want to do it. I can’t do any quilting now because my machine is caput…Will have to wait until next month. Oh well, it’s nice to have time off.

I have 2 double electric sockets that were fitted to the plaster board (dry wall) wall before we moved in 19 years ago with surface mounted back boxes! They have been loose for all those years and irritate me when plugging and unplugging things as I have to hold on to the back boxes to use them.

I bought a tool and fittings to put the supports for my shelves into the walls – so now I must get on and fix these sockets too. Good job I’m the one that does the electrical stuff, but will need to rope my husband in to use the tool. Too much hand strength needed to use it for me!

I just found out about this challenge and have been reading all the previous weeks’ posts. Since I love to be organized and I love to sew, this is a great place for me to be! As far as getting something fixed, I have an older APQS longarm machine that had been having intermittent issues for over 2 years. Mostly tension issues, but then it began skipping stitches too. We were finally able to find someone relatively near to us who was familiar with this particular machine and we took it to them, they repaired it and we got it back about 2 weeks ago. I loaded a quilt on the frame and it quilted so beautifully! I was thrilled! So with that fixed, everything else is good.
