Studio Organizing, Week 20

Posted on May 16, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

Are things looking any neater around your sewing room?

I spent several 15-minute sessions of putting things away last week, only to realize how many more of those I actually need! It’s like working in the scraps — I worked and worked, and you can’t tell I did anything!

Another thing I realized is that there are a lot of items that need to be put away that I simply haven’t made a place for yet, and that’s why they’re still out. Or the place I’ve made is already full, so something else needs to be done.

I have my work cut out for me — I shall continue! How did YOU do?

Since I’m headed out to the industry trade show, Quilt Market, in Salt Lake City, this week, I won’t have time for a very rigorous organizing task, so for this week, I’m once again leaving it up to you:

Revisit a previous task you’re still not done with

You can choose from things we’ve done this year, or you can reach way back and revisit any of last year’s tasks. You can find both lists on the Studio Organizing Challenge page.

I’m trying to get caught up on paperwork . . . again . . . so I think that’s what I’ll work on with what little time I have at home.

I’d love to hear what you’re choosing!

Okay, how do I organize this? raffle quilt to finish and find quilter for. hang flyers for the yearly quilt show on Thursday. graduation party to attend on Sunday night at a winery. be completely sober and with it by 9:00 AM on Monday morning for jury duty. Work my normal hours this week and next. And of course, those hours are not at home in the quilting mess. Grand quilt show is two weeks away and I am charged with the final computer push to list all the quilts and their information before going to the printer and make name tags for the participants Should be a nice quiet two weeks. My “studio” will be a gigantic mess by the end.

Well my garden is in. Waiting for the fruit trees and blueberry bushes to come at the end of the month. Plum tree is pruned and blossoming.

Now for the house. Daughter and I are finally starting to clean out the basement. This will take us several days to organize and discard what is down there.

We organized the food shelves today. That was an undertaking for sure. Phew. That parts done. We both have health issues, so as long as we don’t overdo it every time, it just might get done this summer. We hope.

So that is what we are up to as far as organizing.

I have some pillows to work on for two summer programs we are working with.
That would be a good thing to finish.

I have spent a couple short sessions organizing, mostly just putting things back where they belong. I think I need to do a big de-stash, but I’d rather sew than organize that project.

With spring/summer here, I’m spending more time gardening than sewing.
