Studio Organizing, Week 19

I’m hoping that you’re all going to tell me that lots of UFOs got finished last week. Are you?

I managed to work on one of mine. Not the one I thought I was going to, but one that is way older than that. I really thought I was gonna get it done, too, but it didn’t happen. I am, however, much closer to finished than I was a week ago, so that still feels good.

Since I missed posting this yesterday, I thought about just skipping a week altogether, but then I realized there’s something I really need to do this week, so here I am with this week’s organizing task:

Spend at least 15 minutes putting things away

I have stuff scattered everywhere, and it’s all because I simply haven’t taken the time to put things away where they belong. You can’t even really tell what this photo is, but — this is my cutting table, and just since I’ve taken this photo, it’s gotten even worse, if you can believe it. And this isn’t the only surface that needs help!

cuttingtable

So while I’m only tasking you with 15 minutes at some point during the week, I plan to spend at least 15 minutes every day putting things away.

If I run out of things to put away, I’ve got plenty of things that simply don’t have homes that I could make places for and then put them away! I’m sure I can stay busy with this one.

How about you?

Is 15 minutes all you’ll need?

Or will you have to devote more than one session to this task, like me?

I finished quilting something yesterday and started washing and ironing a great big pile of almost vintage fabric someone gave me for some community service stuff. So the ironing board is piled high but the cutting surface is not nearly so piled. Since I have to put stuff away at my house, I don’t know if I really ever get stuff organized. I just hide the dis-organization behind closed doors!!
That’s my story! I want merit badges anyway, although I can’t prove anything.

This is a brilliant one because just a few minutes a day putting stuff away means that you always know where everything is! Especially putting away the bags of stuff you take to workshops or have as project bags. xx

I did work on one of my UFO’s. This is one I will carry with me and work on each Thursday in my mini-group. I got quite a bit done on it. I was happy! Within two or three Thursdays I should have the entire top done. (Ok, I’ll admit that it is a wall hanging, but it is a BUNCH of tiny half-square triangles and I strive for perfection!)

I’m a ‘clear as I go’ girl. Done with that fabric? Fold and back into stash. Leftover fabric a small scrap?
Cut and put in it’s proper place. Done with that ruler? Back on it’s nail in the wall. Everything in my home….has a home. That’s where it is before I head to bed. It’s just the way I roll. 🙂
