Studio Organizing, Week 12

Posted on March 22, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

I completely missed that yesterday was Monday! I’ve been mostly gone from home since around noon last Wednesday for one thing or another (including a fun guild retreat), and I’ve lost track of the days!

But I’ve been getting a lot of sewing done! I’ll have to give you an update on that a bit later.

Did you get your thread organized last week? I got my appliqué thread all reorganized into my new cases, and have room to spare in the second one. It feels so good to have them organized and spread out where I can see them better, and in cases just alike so I can store them more easily. And I still have that extra case I can use for something else — I’m sure that won’t be a problem!

And now we move on to this week’s task, which is:

Clean off your cutting table

Here’s the current state of mine:

cuttingtable

Just awful! I’m hoping to make some good progress at getting it under control this week. It always makes me feel better when it’s cleaned off.

How does your cutting table look right now? Better than mine? Worse?

I ran across this article, which might be helpful, over at Fabric Mutt: 9 Steps to a Happy Cutting Table.

Have fun with this one!

Lol, I must be channeling your thoughts because I did this yesterday!

I promptly cluttered the table all up again as I laid out all my rulers and sorted them, but I put them all away and the cutting table is clean again! I “found” 24″x30″ of cutting space that had gotten covered by a project I wasn’t even working on anymore. Once I put that away, I felt so much better!

    Have a great week!

I did well on the threads, and now everything is neat. 🙂 How long will it stay?
My cutting table stays clean the longest of anything in my studio.

Mine’s not really too bad, but you’ve inspired me to put away a small stack of fabrics I’m not going to use right away. Thanks!

I have done 3 quilt tops. Not together yet but the tops are done. 1 lap, 1 twin and 1 queen. Well hubby helped with the twin.

So now this week is spring cleaning. Suprise! It is taking me a lot longer. I wonder why? I’m only 73 and counting. LOL.

But I have got the bathroom and dining room done. And part of the kitchen. And I did 4 loads of
laundry today. I hate cellar stairs at my age.

Anyway, I am going to my quilt guild tomorrow from 9-12 and then my college course tomorrow night from 6-9. I think I will be tired tomorrow night.

Thanks for sharing the photo. I don’t feel so bad. Mine looks about the same. I have to clear space to cut an 18 inch piece of fabric! But, first things first, I have yoga class to keep healthy.

yes I agree with the others. My cutting table stays pretty clear. I’ve been away for 8 days in North carolina. What a pretty state.
