Stitch Sampler

The Stitch Sampler pattern is now available!

I designed this little Stitch Sampler for last year’s Arrow Rock Quilt Camp. It measures 6 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and uses nine different embroidery stitches:

I embroidered mine on a dark tan linen blend background with DMC floss.

But I also did another version on plain white cotton fabric using different colors:

For the colored version, I used a double strand of Sulky 12-wt. in the colors from Crafty Gemini’s collection:

The pattern is available in my Etsy shop as a PDF only. The pattern does NOT teach you how to do the embroidery stitches, but does reference a great place for you to learn them if you don’t already know how to do them. There is a map detailing the stitches used and what positions they are used in. The design comes full-sized, ready for you to trace onto your background fabric.

Once you’ve stitched up the design, you can either frame it in a standard 8″ x 10″ picture frame, or turn it into a pillow or a mini-quilt. You can also pull out portions of the design to embellish other projects. For instance, you can use one of the center square motifs to make a pincushion, or use the border designs on clothing, towels, or other linens for a special added detail.
