Spiked Punch

No, I’m not posting a holiday recipe! I’m showing you the progress I’m making on the Tula Pink Spiked Punch quilt I’m making for my daughter.

When my daughter went to QuiltCon with me in February, she was amazed by all the “pretty and fun things” she was seeing. Pati, at Marcus Fabrics, let her choose a free fat quarter from a basket in their booth. She chose a girly cowboy piece of fabric.

Then she handed it to me and said, “Now you have to make me something out of it!” Haha!

So while I was at a quilt show back in September, I found an entire jelly roll with the same fabrics in it, and picked that up to make her a quilt. Spiked Punch is the pattern I chose. It’s an instant download you can purchase HERE, if you’re interested in getting the pattern for yourself.

I’m making her a good-sized throw quilt that she can drag around her apartment and use however she wants. It won’t match her pretty decor at all, but she can hide it in the closet when company comes!

By using a jelly roll, the cutting was super fast and easy. I put a barely off-white solid (called Marshmallow) with it for my background. I got my background from VFW Quilts online store. Her solids are only $5 a yard!

I’m still working on the first step of the pattern, sewing the units.

Then I have to finish cutting and pressing them so they can be arranged and sewn together.

I’ll be awhile yet!

I’ll show you some more progress later, so check back.

Have a great weekend!
