September 350 Blocks Report

Posted on September 30, 2022 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

I can’t believe that one of my favorite months is already over this year, and it flew by so fast!

Never mind that I only made 5 blocks, it seemed like I just didn’t have time to even work on blocks at all this month. How about you? Was September crazy busy for you, too?

I’m trying to use weekends to catch up on some of my own projects, one of which is my Pineapple quilt by Amber at Gigi’s Thimble. The quilt-along started at the end of January, and ends sometime in October, and I was doing really well at first, and then got behind (like I did on everything else this summer). So in an effort to catch up on it, because I really do love it so much and want to finish it, I’m chipping away at it in little bits on the weekends. I finally finished Block 7:

And Block 8 is well along. The goal was supposed to be one a week, but they are not quick blocks, and I couldn’t keep up. Several weeks of not being able to rotary cut didn’t help, either.

So that was my month! How was yours?

It’s time to report in with your numbers for September. I have the Project Page updated as of this morning. Our block goal for October is 31 blocks, for a year-to-date total of 288.

The prize winner for August is Diana S. She’s up to 387 blocks already.

Last month was a good block month for a lot of you, and I’m so excited to see our group totals at the end of the year, so keep sewing!!!

Another month with a big fat zero blocks. But, I moved this month, so that’s my excuse.

    43 blocks

  4. Judy Sovereign says:

  5. denniele says:

    44 blocks this month!

  6. Kathi Benchley says:

I managed to get 4 blocks done. I’m surprised I got that many done as I was busy canning all month.

  7. Marlene Clausen says:

72 blocks for September. I did get two QOV tops done, but no pieced blocks in those. Am way behind on my yearly QOV’s, w/the moving. Next up is some quilting that needs to get done before working on anything new . . . and then curtains . . . so many curtains!!

  8. Pam Desilets says:

I was able to get 22 blocks done finished binding a QOV quilt.

  9. KT says:

Love your pineapple block! School is back in session, so not as much sewing time. I finished 34 blocks in September, and have almost finished my version of your pink petals quilt for a friend.

  10. Becky Cogan says:

It was a good month for me with 98 blocks. One quilt that had 63 blocks had 3164 pieces to it and measures 36 x 46.

  11. Fran says:

Although I made only 77 blocks, I consider this a good month as I got 5 quilts ready for the long arm quilter and I hand sewed binding on 7 quilts.

  12. Shirley Guier says:

I had 64 blocks from 2 quilts that weren’t on my list! I had fun working on them.

  13. Kathy says:

Worked on some machine embroidery this month but I did get 23 blocks made.

  14. Sharon Gratz says:

Hurricane Ian changed course and missed us instead of the direct hit it had started as. 20 blocks for me in Sept.

  15. Wendy Tuma says:

Boy, September was full of surprises for me! Anniversary, dog sitting, then both of our adult kids with health issues, more dog walking/sitting, relocating my quilt room to get ready for a new quilt room. Phew. I managed 17 blocks, but don’t ask me how. LOL

  16. Barbara B says:

    149 blocks completed in September

  17. Ginabeth says:

I’m at 52 for September. Thanks for keeping this up.

  18. Delana says:

I only made 12 blocks this month. Sigh!

  19. Amanda M. says:

I somehow created 66 blocks for 6 different projects. I began a new project of Churn Dash blocks that finishes at 3″. I also pieced a few charity quilt battings out of “scraps” from other people! I need to piece a couple more battings together some time. I’m also planning on making at least 2 new quilts for my new larger bed; one is going to be a flannel rag quilt so hopefully Mother Nature decides to take us to warmer temperatures!

  20. Beverly V. says:

Zero for me. Four months on the road has not been conducive for quilting. I am looking forward to finishing some quilts, although that won’t be blocks added, but hopefully help clean up one of my rooms. Designing a baby quilt to piece next month and hopefully finish the top of memory quilt and then piece the back.

  21. Tanya says:

I love a pineapple block! Yours are so pretty. Unfortunately we still had house issues that needed our attention, not much time to sew this month. I only got 2 blocks done for September. Hopefully October will allow more free time. 🤞🤞

  22. Carissa says:

Your scrappy pineapple looks great. I made one a few years ago and they do take a lot of time, but I loved the finished quilt. I wasn’t able to finish as much as I’d have liked, but I was able to piece 30 blocks, so I was at least able to stay on track!

  23. Barb Roberts says:

I finished the last 25 blocks for a quilt that I started at a retreat in August, now if I could just create time to sew them together. I did get a ton of much needed yard work done in September so I’m happy. Thanks Shelly!
(You can disregard the one I posted on the wrong page (August 350 page) ;(

  24. Shirley B says:

I made 32 blocks this month.

  25. Judy Smith says:

I’m not sure where September went but have a big fat zero for blocks sewn. Hopefully October will be better.

  26. PAULA M MORGAN says:

Yeah! 34 blocks – I feel like I am on a swing upward!

  27. Diana S says:

I am loving your pineapple blocks Shelly. At least you got a few blocks made. I’m a big fat goose egg for the month. Good intentions, but……
Did get a quilt bound and donated to Linus. Started another top but no blocks completed! I spent the last 2 weeks canning, something I have not done in a very long time. Well other than making sauerkraut! October needs to be productive in terms of blocks!
Can ‘t believe you drew my name!!!

  28. Peggy says:

I made the “Scrap Happy Quilt” by American Patchwork & Quilting…all in one month! 60 blocks for me this month!!

  29. Debra Freese says:

    47 blocks in September.
30 of those are Pricilla blocks that I am freezer paper piecing.
14 blocks to complete the Temecula mini mystery quilt along.
And 3 Christmastime mystery QAL blocks.
Is there a theme here? Maybe I just like surprises. 😁

  30. Raewyn says:

I love your Pineapple block! I apologise for not reporting for the last few months. However my tallies are now all up to date and here I am again. May (23) June(16) July (92) August (51) and September (48). Roll on October!

  31. September went way too fast. A total of 21 blocks for me. I had good intentions, but for some reason it didn’t go the way I planned.

  32. Debbi says:

I LOVE you pineapple block! Is that lollies you are using for the corners? Looks fantastic! Lots of sewing in those…

I’ve been busy in the sewing room this month but my block count is only 34.

Been doing some pre-cutting for retreat next week and working on a Bargello that I don’t know how to count for blocks. I think I’ll see how big it is when I finish and divide up into an approximate number of blocks.

So far we are having a beautiful fall here in the northwest. I’m good with keeping the gray at bay!

  33. Sally H says:

44 blocks for September, just chugging along with small projects.

  34. Joan says:

41 blocks done. Finished two small projects and got a lot of handquilting done. Thanks for keeping us motivated!

  35. Paula Mu says:

I didn’t have too bad a month in September as far a blocks go. I finished 87. I have gotten behind on some of my projects, but… 27 Letters to Santa blocks, 1 Sherry McConnell block of the month, 8 Secret life of color, 2 Spicy, and 49 Alaska blocks. Hopefully I can catch up on some of my other projects in October.

  36. Deanna says:

School started and sewing slowed, but not as much as I thought it might. September still brought 47 blocks for a year-so-far total of 644. Hoping that October will be a month of finishes.

  37. Cindy Wienstroer says:

Well not too bad since i finished a few things – 8 sides/ diamonds of a lone star hand pieced, 4 borders- piano keys, 3 appliqué blocks, and 4 seminole side borders. Still need to do 5 quilting, & one backing& quilting. Also getting rid of stuff daily!

  38. Christine T says:

I made 10 blocks this month. Most of my sewing stuff is all boxed up ready for moving house but that’s now all been delayed. I was pleased to get just a little bit of time at my sewing machine making up scrappy blocks for a charity block drive.

  39. Rose Marie Smith says:

I can report that I finished 130 blocks this month. (72 of them were little tiny blocks-LOL). Some of the blocks are for secret gifts coming up soon. Can’t talk about that!

  40. I also only made 5 blocks. Did a lot of finishing on projects such as bindings, straps, etc.

  41. Ginny says:

Busy month for me also. Arrived home from our 52 days gone only to leave again in 3 days. Sewed a double quilt together while gone. One block for Sept. Home again for 11 days. Too much to do. I am happy with the progress I am making on a hooded baby sweater for Addi, our great granddaughter. Fun is that I get to knit baby sweaters for an other great grandchild due April 1st.

  42. I ended up with 131 blocks for September, more than I would have guessed. I also assembled three tops and finished one quilt and a set of Christmas placemats!

  43. Marsha Parkhill says:

13 for me. Love the pineapple block. Making a pineapple block quilt is on my “someday” list.

  44. Dianne D says:

30 blocks for September. Headed in the right direction!
Thanks so much for your efforts in tracking this for us!

  45. Cheree Hull says:

139 for me. Picking up the pace!

  46. Marsha Y. says:

Four blocks. Seems like September flew by!!! We were gone a lot and just didn’t have time to sew. I do have lots of blocks pinned and ready to sew for this month. I plan on having better total in October. So glad your arm is healing, and you are able to cut and trim again.

  47. sharonG says:

I had sooo much going on but, finally I sewed.
I made 20 blocks this month.

I glad to see that you are doing better.

  48. Sorry I only just saw this one. Busy indoors and out, so much work to ready the flower gardens for winter. 55 blocks for September, so I’m happy with that!
    Love your pineapple block!

  49. Bev C. says:

I ended up with 260 blocks this in Oct. Some used the 4 patches that I made and didn’t count a few months ago. Partial blocks certainly work up fast. I also finished 3 quilt tops. Love your pineapple blocks. I just won a pineapple ruler at a local quilt show and will also do scrappy when I get around to using it.

  50. Marilyn Holder says:

Total for September: 25. My SAL is pushing me – good – plus another project at my own speed which is slow. Just cannot do more than one at top speed. My top speed is getting slower; is it too many things crowded into a day or just getting older and not moving as fast! Oh well, at least I’m still sewing at enjoying everything about the process.

  51. Barb Magruder says:

I managed 136 blocks in September!

  52. Cathy k says:

September blocks finished this month is 84. I also finished a few other projects, so I think it was a good month.

  53. Randy Menninghaus says:

    183

  54. Linda Knight says:

I managed 17 blocks and 3 small quilts quilted and bound. Just late reporting.

  55. Ceil Podzimek says:

I had 26 blocks for September. 1 for a baby panel quilt; 15 for another baby quilt – both for my great nephew’s baby due in January. I had 10 for my sister Rose’s petunia quilt – it will be slow going with a lot of curved petals and leaves!

  56. I’m a tiny bit late, but I finally have some 2022 blocks! 17 of them. September post

  57. Danice says:

Oh my, a month late posting. ‘Did not complete any blocks in September. Doing some this month though.
