In September, I challenged myself to run the longarm every single day. I’m trying to keep from getting any further behind on customer quilts, and there will invariably be a quilt or two that always takes me way longer to quilt than I think it will. And if I can quilt for a few hours this afternoon, I will have met my goal!
However, by doing that, and with all the other things that came up this month to derail me, I didn’t get much block making done. So I have a grand total of THREE for September! And they were all easy little 9-patches!
One for our guild exchange, which went out in the mail to Carol:
And two for a scrap quilt I’m working on — they’re good little leader/ender blocks:
I’m not doing the longarm challenge again this month because I already know there will be a couple days missed because My Cowboy has some tests and doctor’s appointments. But I still plan to be at the longarm a LOT.
And still, I’m hoping to have a better block making month in October. I may be inside more than I anticipate — it appears that it may get cold early this year, and I’m not ready for winter. The cooler weather is also making me want to take up my knitting again. I’m still working on last year’s temperature scarf, and am forcing myself to finish it before I can start anything new.
How are things on your little part of the planet? How did your September block making go?
It’s time to report in with how you did this past month. I have the Project page updated. Our goal for October is 31 blocks, for a year-to-date total of 289.
The prize winner for August is Denniele, who has made 246 blocks so far this year! I know she’s a busy lady. She and I are nearly tied!
I hope you get all the sewing time you’re wishing for in October, and are having a lovely fall. Happy stitching!
Cute blocks! My total this month is 15…just no time. It’s fall and that means chores. Maybe next month will be better.
Just 30 pieced blocks for September, though the top is together and ready to quilt. Lots of yard work keeping me busy.
You did better than me this month. I only made two blocks. Of course I also did a lot of cross stitch and painted a bedroom.
I made 32 blocks for 4 different projects. I hate to admit that I started a new project but I couldn’t resist. I hope that the cooler weather motivates me to sew more so I can spend quality time with my iron!!
I made zero. I am on a mission to finally get all caught up on customer quilting. I have started babysitting my 3-month old grandson 3 days a week, so it seems like all I do is babysit and machine quilt. My goal is to get them all done by the middle of the month. We’ll see!
My block total for September is 63.
I made 99 blocks and sent 5 quilts to the long arm quilter. I am excited about October. Hopefully, I will make more blocks this month.
22 blocks is my September total. Excited to be the August winner! So happy it wasn’t based on production! 😉
Just 24 blocks for me–school started, and now that I am working in 2 different schools, there is not a lot of time left for quilting. I still manage to fit in a little, just to maintain my sanity!
I made 121 blocks in September, for a YTD total of 1547. Congrats on getting lots of long arm time in this month!
I did 59 blocks and took one quilt to be quilted.
Put me down for 68 blocks – 1/3 of those the curvy hexies I’m trying to stay of top of and of course, there are blocks for the sampler. I also took one quilt to be quilted. I usually quilt my own, but this one was too big. Blessings to you and Mr. Cowboy.
14 blocks for me and plan to use October to quilt some tops.
Zero for me in September. I am looking forward to getting home, so I can hopefully sew a little each day. There is a lot of work to do though when I get home. Yard work and catching up on other things after being gone for a little more than two months. I have unfinished quilting projects to finish also. I finished the blocks before I left, but now have to put them together.
What!! Another month flown by.
I did 59 floating triangle blocks and have started another project that I can’t figure out how to count the blocks. Later I guess I will count the 4 rows as blocks……..next month with any luck at all.
59 total
I got 40 blocks done, though I should have done more. Work got in the way this month.
I have 7 blocks to count I did finish up a quilt, did some machine quilting. Need to button up some projects. Move next years so sorting & thining to do before then not looking forward to the packing but will be close to family. At our age past 79 we need to be closer to a kid or two.
My September total is 78
September 93
Had a lot of piecing with three different quilts.
I really appreciate you doing this!
Can’t seem to focus on just one quilt at a time. Block count for Sept is 128. 68 Kinship, 10 Scrappy “Town Square”, 48 Mountains and 2 Star Kissed. Most were not “challenging” blocks. The Scrappy Town Squares and Mountains are very simple and fast. Star Kissed simple but more involved and a couple of the Kinship made me think.
Sad to say … a BIG ZERO! To much ‘other’ stuff happening around here.
Argh! My total is zero! Did bind a quilt in September. Thanks Shelley for another beautiful quilting job!
Thirty-one blocks this month. I made 2 Strip-It table runners, 16 Jelly Snowflake blocks, 13 blocks for my Vote 2020 quilt. My total so far is 1023.
Ooh well done running the longarm every day.
I had a pretty good block month, sewing along with online friends, and one away retreat. 130 blocks over 5 different projects.
6 blocks for September for a BOW which will be a QOV when finished. Pieced another QOV top, but no blocks involved. My BIG finish was a UFO. In 2007 my grandson, then 10, found a Halloween table runner w/appliqued bats he wanted to make. He cut and pieced the top and cut the bats from faux brown fur (not easy for a 10-year-old!) and it got set aside. I had always kept track of it, but thought there was more to do than there really was. Pulled it out and found all I had to do to finish was raw-edged applique the bats to the top, quilt, bind, and label. It is finished!! He will be surprised.
I made 34 blocks this months. I got the best surprise gift at the beginning of the month, my daughter! She came home on leave for the month, telling everyone but me! it was so nice to have her home!
Lots of piecing this month, due to the longarm in for servicing. I just got it back, so will be busy after this, but for now, I’ll report in that I did 130 blocks!
I finally got a few blocks made in September, 46 to be exact. But I did quilt and bind 3 smallish quilts for donation and bound 1 large one. I got enough quilt room time to ease some of the “I’ve gotta get away” frustration.
I had 58. And I had some finishes, so that was good. My new puppy, Willow, has only been in the sewing room once. We spend a lot of time playing.
Only 10 blocks made in Sept. But, 2 quilts to the long-armer, started sewing blocks together for 2 more quilts, taking 4 sets of blocks with me to retreat tomorrow to sew together, taking a new quilt-along with me, and the pink sew-along is looking very tempting. It appears I make blocks one year and sew them together the next year. 🙂
September brought 24 blocks (and only 8 more masks). With school starting and Husband and I building a shed out back, it is less than I hoped for but more than I expected. Isn’t that how life is?!
39. I had such good intentions to start catching up.
Still it ain’t to be sneezed at.
September Report showing 29 blocks added – almost a respectable month! I feel your pain with 3 blocks, but at least you know you were busy with other things! 212 total blocks – I don’t think I’m going to make goal this year, but there are worse things than that. =)
Well finally got some work done. Have made 45 blocks last month. Hoping to get some quilting done. Need some binding to do in the eves now it is getting cold.

44 for me in September.
Finished up the last 4 embroidery blocks, more 3 1/2” scrap blocks and the rest are honey bun scrappy blocks. I am really working on that scrap bin but it doesn’t seem to look smaller.
45 for me this month. At least that’s all I can remember – haha!
Slow start for me this month. But, I did manage 20 blocks this month. I have started 3 qal, a nine patch, shine and stitch pink so, my block game will pick up next month
I completed 39. I quite enjoyed listening to books on tape while I sewed. I would have twice as many done if I stitched things correctly the first time! One block made with diamonds and triangles really challenged me. Thank goodness it’s done!
Well, zero for me in September. ‘Been sewing clothes for grandson, due in December. ‘Got to get caught up on quilt blocks for sure.
I had 16 for this month. Hope to do better next month!
I had 45 blocks this month. Happy with that!
Yay I finally got some sewing time😀. I made 62 crumb blocks, and 4 little scrappy churn dash blocks, Total 66 blocks for September!
Looking forward to October.
I made 49 pumpkin blocks for a quilt this month.
September was pretty much a washout for me (you don’t want to know) so I only managed 32 blocks for a ytd total of 731.5.
I was able to make 13 for September.
My total for September is zero. Between granddaughter’s wedding and getting house ready for my back surgery on Oct. 12th, I didn’t have time to get much done. I did manage to finish quilting all customer quilts on hand. Keep inspiring us, Shelly, it does help to keep us motivated.
92 blocks for September; 80 HST stitched and trimmed to size and 12 scrappy blocks. The yard and garden take priority now since the weather changed. Nothing so sad as a garden after frost.
155 for me this month!
95 blocks this month. Nothing finished, but lots of effort toward using 1 1/4 inch strips and blocks cut from scraps over the years. And guess what–there are enough left to make another quilt or more… Thank you for your posts. The latest on applique is fantastic.
