I’m already dreaming of spring! I keep telling myself: “Every day is one day closer to spring.” We actually had thunderstorms last night — in January — complete with lots of lightning.
I always try to cheer myself up with brightly-colored quilting projects during the winter. And this little quilt is no exception. My newest pattern is called Posies in the Fencerow:

I originally designed this pattern for use in my beginning hand appliqué classes, and then carried it on over into beginning patchwork. It’s an easy one to learn on. Which means it’s also fairly quick to make. The finished quilt measures 42 1/2″ x 54″. Baby quilt or small throw size.
I used 30s reproduction fabrics left over from another project to make mine. You could use any favorite scraps on hand to create this. Use your own favorite method of appliqué to attach the flowers, and you’re on your way!
Mine took me quite a while because I chose to hand quilt it once the top was finished. Not a bad decision, just a time-consuming one.
The pattern is available in my Etsy shop in both a print and a PDF version. If you’re dreaming of spring, too, maybe working on one of these would cheer you up!
So sweet!
Very nice! I have a collection of 30’s fabrics….hmmmm. I have been considering adding making something with them to my goal list for 2023.
I really like this one. I would make a big one though. not sure I want to add anything to my list right now. Have to think about it.
Love the colors!
Love the quilt and colors.
That is so bright & cheerful- the 1930’s are so fun.
So cute. And you have such springy and bright fabrics. I have brilliant Kaffe Fassett and Japanese fabrics and the rest is blah blah countryside stuff left from when Kay got me interested in quilting back in the early 2000’s. I have made lots of dark quilts but too much dark stuff still left. sigh!!
