News From the Ranch, Episode 1209

Posted on March 25, 2014 by prairiemoonquilts in What's New

It’s crazy busy around here, as usual. And sometimes, it doesn’t seem like we’re making much forward progress. I do know that I will be glad when winter is over.

It’s officially spring, as of last week, and while we’ve had a few nice days, it’s turned cold again, and we got a very light dusting of snow just last night.

Today is National Ag Day, the 41st annual . . . that day each year when we should all celebrate the contributions made by the agricultural community. Farmers and ranchers all over the country work hard 365 days a year to put food on people’s tables. It’s a job they don’t take lightly. You can find out more about National Ag Day right HERE.

This is our bull, Elvis. He works hard, too. But he’s also fairly spoiled, as are most of our animals. Elvis

Like Jasper, for instance. Completely spoiled rotten!Jasper

Look at that fat little belly! And isn’t that the cutest little beard you’ve ever seen?

And I won’t mention the herd of pampered felines that runs around out here.

But I will mention that I got the sweetest gift in the mail last week, and you can read about it HERE.

And I will also mention that I attended a Sewcial and Sew at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop last weekend, where I managed to finish the top of my Scrap Jar Stars quilt.ScrapJarStars

Apparently, I need to learn how to take not-blurry pictures with my iPad. This was made from a free tutorial by Amber over at A Little Bit Biased. When I’ll ever get it quilted is anyone’s guess, but I’ve at least added it to the “to be quilted” pile.

And while I’m here, I’ll announce the February winner of the 350 Blocks Project prize.

It is: Lori E.

I know Lori has been busy making blocks for Quilts of Valor quilts, so a prize is well-deserved!

I’ll be back later with more quilt pictures and other news, so stay tuned! And go thank a farmer today!
