Memorial Day

I actually know what day it is today! It’s Monday, and it’s Memorial Day.

I hope you’re taking time out to remember those we’ve lost, those who’ve served, and those who are still serving. It’s important. I guess that’s why it’s a national holiday, right?

Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts is featuring her “Made in USA” quilt pattern as her pattern of the week this week, appropriately enough.

I immediately bought the PDF version and riffled through my bin of strips to get this started:

I have lots of darker scraps to use up, so mine won’t be the light, airy version hers is, but it’ll be more traditional. I’ll donate it to a veteran in our area when it’s finished. It’s a good throw-sized quilt, and I only have to make 15 blocks.

And since I now own the pattern, I can see me making more of them in the future, too, just to keep using up scraps!

Hop over to Laundry Basket Quilts and get yourself this pattern, if you’d like to make a patriotic quilt, too! You can find the pattern HERE.

I am very busy again making scrap quilts for the nursing home in Arkansas where my sister can deliver them. I made a pink one with some Kaffe Fassett fabric at the corners and now finishing up a blue one. I have a Laundry Basket Quilt bin. I need to go in there and see what I should do. Quilt life is really full, isn’t it? Love your posts.

PS George and I went to the cemetery at Greentop to leave a decoration for his parents. Home and happy now.

We put flowers on my grandparent & great grandparents Sat. And today drove 2+ hours for my dad’s & then my husband’s family. And now headed home to my display of family members who have served. Next up flag day then fourth of July!🇺🇸
