May 350 Blocks Report

Posted on June 1, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

I traveled a lot during the month of May, and when I wasn’t traveling, I was either at the longarm working on customer quilts or getting ready for the travels so I knew this month would not be a good one for me getting many blocks done.

And I was right: ZERO is my total for this month.

I hope you all did better than me!

In fact, I didn’t even get time to update the Project page after the initial update I did at the beginning of the month, so hopefully I have that done now. Please double check your totals and make sure I have yours correct — my inbox got a little out of control this month, too, so I don’t want to have missed anything.

And here we are ready for the last month in the first half of the year already — how did that happen?

Our total for June is another 30 blocks, altho I truly feel like saying, “Make lots of blocks — make as many as you can — 100 is good!” Our year-to-date total is 170 blocks. So many of you are way past that, and I’m really anxious to see how many we can make as a group this year!

I’m certainly hoping that I can contribute to that total a little better in June that I did in May (which won’t take much)!

The winner of the April prize package is: Bec. At the end of April, she was already up to 507 blocks. Woohoo!

So report in your totals and we’ll keep moving forward, making blocks. I love how some of you just report in anyway and don’t wait for me, since I’m not always the best at staying on top of things!

May was not as productive as I would have liked. We did a bit of travelling and then we had some health issues with our pets.

But, I was able to get 6 blocks done.

And, since 5 of them were for a long time UFO and used paper piecing I am happy to say that I can finally think about getting the top together! YAY!

  2. randy says:

well if we can count individual art quilts as one block I did 8.

I am doing a pot holder quilt. I have 40 done so far and 60 to go. Love doing this block. This quilt is from the civil war. It originated in New England during the civil war. From what I am told it was mainly in Maine then spread out from there. Anyway My hubby is doing some also. Can’t wait to get it together.
As a matter of fact I am teaching a class on the Pot Holder quilt the end of October.
And yes I am occasionally still working on my king hexagon quilt. That one will take forever.
My garden is finally all planted. Everything is coming up and I am pleased with what I see. Now I have 2 trees to plant a Mac apple and a Peach, and 2 blueberry high bushes to plant. Hopefully tomorrow. Then maybe, maybe? I can sit back and enjoy our new porch we just built onto the front of the house. It over looks the flower beds and the bird feeders etc.

  8. Betty K says:

Hopefully more for June.. although, I am scheduled for Jury Duty.. 🙁 Hoping they won’t pick me.. keep your fingers crossed! I don’t mind being a juror, it’s the drive to the court house.. DC traffic is not fun at all..

I spent the month quilting/binding, finishing up 7 quilts, therefore had almost made Zero blocks for May.
However, I managed to make block 5 for Westering Women on the last day of May, looked back over my list and noticed that I hadn’t reported block 1, so I guess I can say 2 blocks instead of zero.
Block 2,3 and 4 of WW remain untouched oops.
Total so far of 459 for the year.

A surprisingly productive May, all things considered. I am working on the Splendid Sampler and the Temecula Quilt Company Circa 2016 quilt. Those blocks helped out a lot. My total for the month is 32 bringing me to 192 for the year so far. Thanks for the encouragement.

  29. Susan says:

Lots of blocks are being made, and I know you’ll get more done since you are home this month. Hard to sew and travel at the same time, unless you are doing it in an RV. =)

I did 11 blocks but in the process I finished making all the blocks needed for the paper pieced quilt I am making. I still have a pieced border to make but am taking paper out of the blocks after I have the rows sewed together. That is more time consuming than sewing the paper in was.
