March Studio Organizing, Task Two

How did you do with the paper clutter last time? I got rid of quite a bit, and one of my tables is clear, but there is always more I could do, so I’ll keep at it.

Meanwhile, it’s somehow past time for another task, so before the month gets away from me, let’s pick something, shall we?

I’ve been under the crunch of several massive deadlines lately, so I have quite a “craftermath” to clean up, and I also need something easy since my brain is nearly fried, so . . . let’s:

Clean off your main work surface

I was doing so well with cleaning mine off every week, but with these recent deadlines, I couldn’t even spare the few minutes each day to keep going at it, so here’s its current shameful condition, complete with bathing penguin cat:

I still have another big deadline coming up, but hopefully, once it’s over, I can find time to clean up and get back on track. It’s quite evident I have lots of piles that need to be dealt with!

How about you? Are you managing yours just fine? Or have you let things get out of control like I have?

I know it will feel so much better to have this cleaned off and have room to actually DO some work. Let’s do it!

I have had the time but not the motivation
I would rather sew. it is getting to the point now that I am motivated to clean off my cutting table, that’s where my clutter starts because it is just as I come through my sewing room door. It will probably take me 15 minutes when i get to it but i have to be in the mood.

Sometimes I have scheduled overnight visitors but sometimes they are not scheduled. Either way, I need to completely clean up my sewing area which is located in the corner of our guest room. This keeps me on my toes to not let the mess build up too long. Ugh.

I have had company-and unexpected snow and more company waiting out the storm. The projects I had spread out are now all piled up- this is an excellent task. Plus, so far I have only one block completed for the month! My shredder is jammed, this is a nice break from paper clean up…

  4. How did you know this task is what I had planned for today? It is so out of control on every flat surface and so unlike me – most of the time. I’m sure it will lead to more tasks as I go to put something away and see the shelf contents or drawer needs to be tidied up. Am I the only one who figures while I’m there, might as well do a bit of straightening up for a few minutes? Anyway, I always appreciate the nudge you give me to get with it! Then maybe I can get a couple (as in two) quilt tops finished before April 1st.

My worktop stays pretty clear but my machine needed servicing and I was having trouble finding someone to do it so I just took it apart and cleaned it out and put it back together. And thankfully it still works!

I did a major clean of my paper – got a stronger shelf for my binders of patterns. So that feels good! My end needs me to clean up & cut my scraps. Need to finish cutting some corners for flying geese before that happens. Should get it done today.

  7. My main surfaces are usually clear, it is the rest. I put all my fabric away that was waiting around for me to do something with it.
I am still dealing with paper. I think I will always deal with paper. But, I feel better in the room after doing some of the things.

I see the kitty is cleaning up.

Good choice! I was going to sew this afternoon but ended up leaving the room because I was overwhelmed with all the projects in various states on my flat surfaces. I could not focus. Tomorrow is another day and I’ll tackle the work surfaces😊

I only have one surface that tends to get stacked. I tend to clean up as I go. But, the paper clutter?? Well, I kinda “hid” all that. It’s in a binder, just not in the binder. ; )

  11. I’ve been slowly working on my table since the start of the year. Operative word: s-l-o-w-l-y
Since I haven’t been motivated to tackle it all at once, this seems a good compromise. Any progress, no matter how small, is good…my new philosophy 🙂
