Loretta’s Farm and Garden Samplers

It’s finally here! I know some of you have been asking about it. I’m seriously late with it this year. But when you see the quilts, you might understand why. It’s the new Sew Sweet Block-of-the-Month quilts!

This year, they’re called Loretta’s Farm and Garden Samplers — one farm, one garden . . . named after Loretta Leitner, who designed quilt patterns under the name Nancy Cabot for many years. More about her story, and the inspiration for the designs used in the quilts, is contained in the pattern booklet.

But here are the quilts. The traditional version, Loretta’s Farm Sampler:

The modern version, Loretta’s Garden Sampler:

As always, they’re completely interchangeable. You can do either version in either color way, all the parts from one version fit into the parts from the other. Because I like options (I think I say that every time)!

The booklet has stories about the blocks, with lots of extra suggestions and options provided, complete instructions, full-sized appliqué patterns, and labels, and throughout the duration of the BOM’s run at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop, I plan to do a few tutorials here on the blog about how I did the appliqué. And maybe some other stuff — I never know what I’ll come up with!

There’s a lot of sewing in these blocks, but I’ve tried to simplify their construction as much as possible. In the booklet, I give you some hints and tips along the way. So they’re all really easy, and yet they look more difficult than they are — that’s always a plus in my book! The appliqué is large, easy pieces, so don’t be intimidated.

If you want to get in on this BOM, it’s available exclusively through Sew Sweet Quilt Shop in Brunswick, Missouri. Just give them a call to get signed up: 660.548.3056. It starts September 12th! You purchase the booklet at the start, and then you can choose either fabric color way, or sign up for both! Each month, you will get a packet of fabric for that month’s block. The setting is up to you. You may choose to do a completely different setting than the ones shown. You can pick it up in the shop, or have them ship it to you. Simply give them a call to get all the info and set yourself up.

I can’t wait to see what you make!
