Linda’s Chariton Sampler

Posted on July 26, 2025 by prairiemoonquilts in Longarm Quilting

It’s always an honor when someone makes a quilt from one of my patterns, and then asks me to quilt theirs for them! My most recent one came from Linda R., who made a version of my Chariton Sampler quilt, which was the 2016-2017 BOM for Sew Sweet Quilt Shop.

Here’s my original version so you can see the quilt full out:

I didn’t have space to take a picture of Linda’s flat out once I finished, but I did the best I could to get some photos so you can see the quilting, and some closeups of her blocks. After getting hers finished, I think I like it better than my own!

Since it’s a medallion quilt, I chose medallion quilting.

I used the block positions as guidelines for how to divide it up to make placement for all the elements easier.

We also agreed on not-too-heavy quilting, so I used large feathers in many areas.

I really enjoyed quilting this one, and it also went much faster than I thought it would.

The background fabric is a gray Dimples (by Andover), but it looks almost silver in the photos, and I love it so much!

I didn’t even get a photo of the backing, but it’s a bright lime green and so perfect for this quilt.

I hope Linda loves it.

Love how you quilted Lindas quilt. Those large feathers sure look pretty on this quilt.

Beautiful quilts! I love your quilting and how the background becomes a secondary design. I’m in awe and can’t seem to get how to do that kind of quilting. Maybe it’s the wrong style of quilts but still my mind just doesn’t see it on a blank canvas. Guess why you are a professional 😂 Great job!
