I should have posted this yesterday, but I was out running around like a squirrel preparing for winter, since we’re supposedly in for a huge winter storm in the next few days. Hopefully, it won’t get as bad as predicted, but at least we’re ready now. And if it does, it’s just completely rude, because yesterday was in the 50s — a gorgeous day that felt like spring!
I keep telling myself: “Every day is one day closer to spring!” And just like that, January is over.
I ended up with a block total of 71 for this month. Some of you are off to a fantastic start! It makes me so happy to see so much sewing getting done.
We have 95 block makers signed up this year! The Facebook group is up to 28 members already, and there’s some pretty stuff showing up in there.
I was a bit lax about taking photos of some of the stuff I worked on, but here’s a couple. I have decided that I’m gonna dig out a different UFO each week to work on. To see if I want to finish it like it is, downsize it, change it, get rid of it, or if I simply need to regroup so I can get back to work on it. One of January’s projects was this Triangle Stars quilt:

I still LOVE this quilt, and want to finish it like I planned. I need quite a few more blocks to finish it, but I will keep chipping away at them. I now have it all reorganized and added these three blocks to the count in January.
I also finally finished all the blocks for my Stitch Pink 2021 quilt:

I needed 6 more, and I got them done. Now to add the sashing and cornerposts, and get it quilted and bound!
I also worked on some half-square triangles, some 4-patches, finished all the sections for my Autumn Braid quilt, and made some more 36-patch blocks. I moved lots of quilts further along, and I also completely finished FIVE quilts that are now off my list altogether! I hope I don’t lose steam in future months.
But I AM getting ready to up-end my entire fabric storage system and rearrange it, so that might slow me down.
How did January treat YOU? Did you get a lot done? Some of you have already sent in your numbers, and they look great!
You can leave a comment here or email me with your totals, and I’ll update the Project page in a few days. For now, I have it updated with our February goal, which is 28 blocks, for a total so far this year of 43 blocks!
Happy Stitching!
157 blocks for January, including an American Hero top, a long-paused chickens quilt and two placemats and a table runner for a Master Gardener sale.
I had cut out quite a few Christmas quilts last fall, so I was able to do mostly piecing and assembling this month. I finished 4 quilt tops and sewed up 142 blocks. I’m thrilled to start the year off so well!
I love your triangle stars quilt!
I made 141 blocks this month. We are snowbirds, so I will be making lots of flimsiest and then will need to quilt them all after we return to the snowy north.
January brought a lot more blocks than I expected: 84.
January was a great block month for me. I had more time to sew and worked on charity quilts. My block count for the month was 70.
112 blocks done for January. wow. haven’t done that in awhile. Yay me!
You’ve been busy! Love those triangle stars blocks. I have 36 blocks this month.
I didn’t get any done in January but I did get some done in December that never got counted. In fact, they are stl on my design wall!
I’m shocked at how fast the blocks added up. I ended up with a total of 221. Feb. will have fewer because now I have to put them all together to make more donation quilts!
Randy
second try… good job!
Thanks, Randy
56 blocks for me in January. Is this the best way to report blocks?
I made twenty blocks in January.
I made 74. I surprised myself.
January was a bit slow for sewing, but I did manage to finish 36 blocks.
42 blocks for January. Tons more cut out and ready to sew!
I made forty nine blocks in January, all are for Community service quilts. It feels so good to have them finished and ready to be out of here.
I have 2 blocks! Just a slow start hope for recovery in February!
You’ve accomplished a lot – l really like both quilts. l stitched 105 blocks and added the cornerstones & sashing to my Christmas blocks so now l have another one for the ‘to be quilted’ pile. 🙂 Stay warm … we’ve got that same storm coming. lt could make a U turn for my part .. lol …
I made 42 block for January.
Even though January felt like it had 783 days, I only managed to get 20 blocks done. They were all churn dashes for a grad quilt I am making. I surprised myself by getting 20 done so it’s a win!

I made 85 blocks for 5 different projects which isn’t bad considering I only had a dozen sewing days. I had made a goal to sew every day but maybe I better try for success in February.
Love your stitch pink blocks! I finally started my Springtime in Arrow Rock and got the first 6 blocks made for that. Total for January is 32.
Very slow month for me. Only 40 blocks made. 🙁 Maybe February will be better.
I am doing the same with UFO. I just finished a block that I like, but don’t love. I’m making it into a pillow. LOL
That is OK, I took care of it and it will come off my list.
I was able to complete 163 blocks
I made 35 Blocks in January. Did a lot of cutting so I have a head start for February. Will have to see how it goes.
I concentrated on quilting a couple of quilts and doing some reorganizing, so only had 14 blocks. Hope to catch up in February.
48 blocks in January. For me, a good start to the year.
I managed 75 for January. Thanks, Shelly
A whopping 327 blocks for me! Been working hard but probably slow it down in Feb.
Those triangle squares blocks are impressive, as is all you got done this month! I’m in Greater KC and hoping we don’t get the 6-10” of snow predicted. If we do, I sorely hope the power stays on!
I got 194 blocks made in January. I spent a fair amount of time for 3 weeks working on Karen Brown’s decluttering challenge. Lots more to do, but I’m feeling good about what I accomplished. I think it was setting the timer for 20 minutes that got me motivated.
I got 220 done and 6 quilted. Was a regular finishing machine.
January was a super good block month for me!
115 blocks were made.
I really like the triangle star blocks. They look challenging. I made 36 blocks for the month. Also quilted and bound two tops. I’m feeling pretty good about it.
I had a good month and got 67 blocks made.
It’s been a quiet month for me with just 55 blocks. Love the fabrics in your triangle stars!
I made 48 blocks during January. I have never counted my blocks before, this will be fun and interesting to see what I do each month.
Jan count is 44 blocks. One quilt done & a strong start on a cat quilt for a granddaughter. In addition I have been knitting in the evening sitting by my hubby. 53 disk clothes for Jan
I have 69 blocks for January.
January count is 52 blocks. Planned on getting more blocks done, but life got in the way. Thanks to your challenges early in the month my sewing area and desk are more organized. Hoping for better count in February.
My thoughts exactly! “And just like that, January is over.” 16 blocks.
January was a good month for me. I finished a baby quilt that was an ufo, have another ufo quilt laid out ready to finish, finished another ufo quilt top and working on sewing memory quilt adding filler blocks another ufo project. Through all this I made 27 blocks for January.
January included long arming, being sick and travel, unfortunately I did not complete any blocks.
I made 146. Deana at https://dreamworthyquilts.blogspot.com/2022/01/january-350-blocks-challenge-total.html
Unfortunately, I didn’t complete the 13 blocks I cut. Managed a late night fall and hurt the calf muscle somehow. Painful to walk and stand, so lazed around instead. Getting better, I hope.
I had 39 in January. Happy to get a good start.
Thanks Shelly,
69 blocks done in January. Two quilt tops finished! Nice to see what you have accomplished.
26 blocks hand pieced in January. … My new form of daily meditation since I cannot do yoga 🧘🏼 anymore.
It has been years since I hand pieced blocks for a quilt. It is relaxing. I should get back to working on my hexies!
20 blocks for January. I finished a UFO quilt top last week! Need to quilt it. Doing as you mentioned, pulling out a UFO each week from my Challenge List to see if I want to work it. Working on one from 2015…that’s embarrassing, but I still love this quilt and am happy to be working with these fabrics again.
Love it when you share your progress pics, these blocks are all beautiful!
I managed to make 142 blocks in January. Some of them were for two simple quilts that I managed to cut out and sew together. I quilted one of those myself!! Woo-hoo! My goal is to put more and more scrap blocks into community service quilts. And quilt a bit more. Probably won’t have this many blocks in February.
207 for January and I finished a quilt . . . including the label . . . for the UFO Challenge. Love your triangle star blocks. I have one of those that seemed to defeat me every time I to work on it. Finally, decided just two blocks per month, no matter how long it takes. As I was piecing the first one, I realized it was the setting that was giving me the problem. It was designed as a scrappy quilt and I was planning each block. That lead to my ah-ha moment! The Solution came to me in a flash and I had stressed over it for over 20 years!!
Block counts: 4 individual blocks for various projects, 13 pinwheel blocks to finish a small quilt and 52 string blocks because needed to clear some space! So not too bad for a start with a total of 69. Thanks for helping us stay true to our goals.
A slow start for me this year. With remodeling/decluttering projects going on, I only did 8 blocks in January. Good thing I have a retreat coming up in March!
Am loving all your blocks Shelly. 40 for me for the month of January. 28 Log Cabin blocks and 12 for a quilt I am making for a friends new baby. Too bad I can’t add the number of Dog Scarves!!!! Am happy with the 40. Now to February!
I had 78, but was very happy with that number as 4 of the blocks were appliqué which takes me forever and I put several quilt tops together.
72 for me in January.
At least 5 different quilty projects going on right now. 😬.
Including: a Linus quilt, guild challenge ✔️, Jessica Dayon’s mystery quilt, turnstile quilt top✔️, and Jen Kingwell’s sew along 😅.
273 for January……….worked on Bitcoin, Merry Mayhem, Ruby Jubilee, Woodbury Way, Carmyn’s Quilt, and some Fish School leader/enders.
I had 255 blocks this month. I had 100 doing the Merry Mayhem Mystery on New Years Day, 102 on “Fast and Flurrious” (a Sew Sampler project), 50 blocks for “Together” and 3 Riley Blake 2022 Mystery blocks. I feel like I am off to a good start.
Thanks Shelly for organizing this again this year!
Total for January: 12. Lots cut out, scraps seem to take more time but it is clearing out a space. Love your pink blocks…I’m planning a Valentine wallhanging with reds and pinks and dots.
I made 70 blocks in January and surprised myself. I also quilted and bound 3 donation quilts. I pulled blocks out of the orphan box and pieced 2 small tops as well. I now have 5 tops to quilt and one of those is on the frame. I LOVE quilting!
I had 33 blocks in January. Not bad considering it is winter and we have a propane business!
I made 49 blocks in January. I machine quilted a quilt for my husband that I had pieced in March of 2021 on my Sashiko machine. It is bound and he is using it! HUGS… and stitches
42 blocks for January!! Which means that two graduation quilts are at the quilter, I don’t want to tackle those as my “learn to quilt clam shells” project…I am so excited for February—I am going to start a couple of heirloom projects, one with hankies and one with embroidered doilies and dresser scarves. And, does anyone have a plan for silk ties? I have looked on websites but nothing said “Make Me!” It is nice to be a place where nothing is hanging over my head as a “Get me done—NOW”, project. Good job everyone! I love being a part of this group.
Your design wall is so happy and bright with those pretty blocks on display. Sounds like you had a great start to the year, but tearing apart your fabric storage sounds like a huge chore!
My January was good. I did a total of 170 blocks!
https://quiltschmilt.ca/2022/01/30/january-block-report/
I only got 3 done for January.
I am trying to finish up a pixel quilt I started last year. I made 25 blocks in January.
As a newbie I was pretty surprised when I realized I’d made 40 blocks in January. And even more surprising a lot were 12” blocks. Whoop, whoop!
We are off to a great start. I made 57 blocks for January. Very happy for a good start.
378 blocks were made in January.
I managed to empty a laundry
Basket full of scraps. Got 2 quilts
Quilted.
For January I stitched 2 whole blocks.
10 blocks for me. Went to Arizona on Jan 23rd, and returned home (Michigan) yesterday. I plan to get some serious sewing done in Feb.
I had 70 blocks in January. I’m happy with that number 🙂
Hi All,
Quite pleased with my self! Although we had the tribe down for the summer hols, it rained a lot,( I’m Gran and the ‘other one’ is Grampy) I managed to get in a block a day. So the grand total is 30 for January. I’m known for my fickle ways of mastering a block and then going on to another( (hence the many UFO in my stash)…..This year am trying to finish some tops. Keep safe and well, Denise
I ended up with a total of 181 blocks for January, which was many more than I expected! The majority were bowtie blocks, plus 42 rail fence and a variety of others.
236 for me!
https://zanasninis.blogspot.com/2022/01/january-350-block-report.html
I am the Deana J on your list – 146 for January. I wasn’t sure if you were able to put that together as my blog name is listed as dq in my previous comment. I will try to clarify better in the future.
Thanks
I had 66 blocks for January. I had some time off from babysitting for various reasons so more time for sewing than usual.
Slow start–11 blocks complete. I’m leading the BOM at my LQS and my focus has been on completing the first two blocks to keep ahead of the group. My other project is a baby quilt which is long overdue. This little one will be two in July. To help with block making, I have a “Leader/ender” project by the machine.
We are having pleasant weather here in WA state so flowers are beginning to appear.
I only managed 4 blocks for January. I’m finally feeling well enough to sew again. Did get a charity quilt sandwiched and quilted for my guild. I hope February is a better block month for me!
Hi Shelly, I love your triangle quilt that is going to be beautiful!
I have 64 blocks for Jan. and Feb is off to a slow start. I had to spend a little time organizing!
Have a great day
my block count for January is 627…..i am in hopes of getting some pictures so that I can post on the 10,000 block on facebook…..
i am way behind on getting some things done but i keep going and going….
happy quilting everyone
I need to correct a previous entry. I lost a few weeks on my spreadsheet (grr) and for the life of me, I cannot find that I got 327 blocks for January; instead I’m getting 237 so please change mine to that. Sorry for the confusion! I’m so frustrated about my lost stats (fabric tracking etc) but it looks like it has corrected an error at least!
