Can you believe it’s already time for our first block report? Tomorrow is February! I still needed a little more January . . . especially since our January didn’t have really bad weather this winter.
The reports are starting to trickle in already, and some of you are off to a great start!
I had a pretty good month my ownself, and made 55 blocks.
Nine of them were for my Sampler Shuffle quilt. I think I still have nine more to make; as usual, I fell behind. Here’s a really bad photo of them all together:
One block was a 9-patch I turned in for a guild project without remembering to take a picture. And I made twelve blocks for my Triangle Salad quilt. You can see those blocks HERE.
And I made 33 blocks for the Whistle Stop quilt I told you about in THIS post. That’s almost half the blocks I need, so I’m hoping to keep going on this one and get it done and off my UFO list soon!
Shockingly, even with all that, I still don’t have a finish for this year yet. But I hope to have several in February to make up for that.
How did YOU do? Did you get off to a good start?
It’s time to report in. I’m excited to see the numbers grow this year. We have 83 participants signed up so far! Woohoo! Leave a comment on this post, link to your own blog post, email me, or use the Contact Us page to let me know your numbers. And if you’re just now finding us, it’s not too late to join in — just let me know!
The goal for February is 30 blocks, which will give us a year-to-date total to shoot for of 50 blocks by the end of February.
The Project page is HERE, and I’ll try to keep it updated regularly. If you don’t see yourself on the list, or if I get your total wrong, or if you have a blog for me to link to and I didn’t get the link posted, please let me know. It’s hard to keep track of so many folks, so I’m depending on you to help me keep the page updated correctly.
Keep on stitching! We have the rest of the year ahead of us to get a lot done!
Congrats, Shelly, on your 55 blocks! I made about half that many – 27! Can’t remember how many we were suppose to make – 20 or 30, so I’m either 3 short or 7 ahead, lol. Off to sew.
I had to take my worker machines in for tune-ups and repairs, but none the less, I’m only about 4 days behind. I’m having a wonderful time with these blocks!
Looks like I have 67 blocks to report. I would have liked it to be much more, but…
I finished 6 UFOs for the month, most of them very small.
I have a few others in process from January, but they will be done in February, I hope.
I’ve actually made a good start for me!
I have 24 for a block swap with the TreadleOn group in the US (3 sets of 8) and another 4 I’ve made from some of my scraps that are now ready for a planned small project. No posts of either yet but there will be soon!
Anyway the total to report from me is 28!
I made a total of 103 blocks for January.
well, I’m in….with a paltry 5 blocks for January.
I am so glad I have managed 45 blocks for January and also finished one UFO! Thanks for the challenge.
I have completed 80 blocks for January. No finishes just lots of blocks for several projects.
woo hooo I am riding my machine on the third edge of the binding. Will have the triangle surprise done by 8 est.
I’m surprised but I knocked out 56 blocks in January!
I made 160 blocks. I am trying to use all my1.5″ squares so I am making 16 patch blocks. I also made other blocks. Only five days in January I didn’t sew any blocks. It seems like retirement is working for me.
49 for me. We both had a good start to the year! I love your Whistle Stop blocks. I need to think about dragging out my plaid tote and doing something like that.
This was a good starting month for me: 41 blocks. YAY!
If you are looking for a project that gets quite a few blocks and is fun, consider the new Temecula Quilt Company quilt along. Tiny blocks, yes, but very satisfying.
I was a slacker…..only got 5 blocks done. Hopefully February will be a better month for me.
84 1″ half square triangles – Then I did 2 paper piecing blocks from a BOM I am doing “My Favorite Things” by Sewhook. That makes a total of 86 for January.
I made 32 blocks in January, more than I would have guessed. I blogged the list here – Counting Blocks.
HI there Shelly
Sign me up for this challenge! I don’t have a blog, but I recognise some names from the comments.
I made 81 string blocks in January, and finished 25 and 22 of them into quilts for donation. Yay.
Stephanie
I almost didn’t want to make my report, Goodness there are some very productive members of this group! Congratulations, For me I made 5 blocks and even thought that seems like very little, I am very happy with them and this group is a way for me to more accountable for myself.
I made 16 – 16 1/2″ blocks for a quilt I needed for a class sample and I got all but the borders done. I’d have gotten it ALL done, but I somehow managed to misplace my border fabric!! It took me several days to search, give up and choose something new! (shaking head in mock dismay….) What am I going to do with me?? LOL…
Well I worked all day today to get to 20. I wanted to do so many more than that! I keep telling myself next month will bring a larger number of blocks to completion.
I had a great month finishing up a baby quilt including the quilting, a table runner, 2 bags and a small portrait quilt! Not sure how to count the blocks but quite happy!
I completed 51 blocks in January. I was shooting for completing a UFO but it didn’t happen. I will be slowing it down for February as I have a baby on the way but hopefully I can still manage the minimum block count. 🙂
It looks like a good start to the year. I made 61 blocks for January. There is still lots to do so February so hopefully have a good total too. If you want to have a look at what I have been sewing here is the link to my 350 Block Report blog post. http://cynthiasark.blogspot.com.au/2016/02/350-block-report-2016-januarys-report.html
Congratulations on your blocks. I made 85!
I decided to complete a bag of leftovers from the last {OMG!!!)16 years before moving on to anything new. Some projects were started one or two years ago and some during 2015. I am almost done. I did start piecing the basic 4-patch blocks for the disappearing 4-patch I’m making for the Quilts of Valor Sew Day on 2/6.
Most of the projects required adding borders, quilting, and binding. I am keeping track and will post a photo of all of it on my blog. Which brings me to February. I plan to count blocks in February instead of completing nothing but UFO’s.
I had a fairly productive month. I was able to mark two projects off my UFO list (yay!!) I made a total of 84 blocks in January.
I made a total of 33 blocks in January.
I would like to be included in this years block project. I thought I had let you know, but don’t see my name, so must have just thought about it. I had a very productive month with 87 blocks. February is designated as quilting month, so probably not many blocks under the needle this month.
Well you did much better than I did.
I only finished 19 blocks in January.
I made 71 blocks this month.
Good for you! I made 40 blocks and finished two quilts. Thanks for giving me a goal and keeping me accountable.
Hi,
I got 22 1/2 blocks done for January. Still have to embroider the “seeds” on the Watermelon blocks. Have a great day!
Good for you! I got almost as many done as you–53 for me this month.
Excellent start for you, your blocks sampler shuffle block are fun. I managed 64 blocks in January, which helped me finish 2 tops for grandkids.
I made 62 blocks this month. Finished 2 quilt tops.
I got 27 done but just in case you didn’t know (;-), I also got four finishes. LOL. Need to get WAY more blocks done this month…and at least four more finishes.
p.s. You have inspired me to get the stuff I laid aside for the Sampler Shuffle and think about making some of those blocks. Yours are really pretty. Love the colors!
I completed 73 blocks this month and completed 5 quilts this month
Finished 34 blocks which is a record for me for I hand sew only. February I hope to finish a couple of queen sized tops, one for donation and the other a family member.
Hi Shelly, please sign me up for this challenge. I am trying to complete some UFO’s this year and hope this will help keep me motivated. I managed 41 blocks in January but no finishes yet. Jo
Good morning Shelly. . I had a great quilting month I made 67 blocks. I have thoroughly enjoyed your triangle salad and I am up early to work on block seven
Call me a slacker I only have 16 blocks to report. I am working on a paper piecing quilt. I hope to have all of those completed for next months count.
I made 124 Blocks for Janurary!!woo hooo off to a good start
61 blocks for me!

I report 77 blocks. Sure does help to do a BOM, finish up my Farmers Wife and the Auzzie 365. Whew! Still sewing up a storm.
Shelly,
I completed 18 blocks for January.
Delana
I managed to make 12 blocks this month. Hope to make a better showing next month.
I counted 4 blocks for January. I made a bed skirt, bumper pads, valance and quilt for a baby. No actual quilting took place but that got one project finished.
I may be at the bottom for January, with 4 blocks done. Embarrassing, but 4 is better than 0. That said, I did finish two UFOs and a WIP! I’ll try to catch up on my blocks in February 🙂
Nothing to report, but I am planning to change that this weekend.
I thought I responded to your email newsletter, but my total is not showing. I made 44 blocks in January… 🙂
A total of 143 blocks
I’m way behind on blogging and on making blocks! I finally counted, and my total for January was just 11. Not all progress is measured in blocks, though, and I’m really happy with the quilting I got done.
