It’s a Great Day!
Posted on January 11, 2025 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio NewsTwenty-six years ago today (in 1999), I launched my little business. So doesn’t that mean I just finished 25 years in business? I think that math is correct.
So 25 years is a pretty big deal of an anniversary to celebrate, right?
I’ve completely lost track of how many patterns I’ve published in that amount of time, but it’s somewhere around 150, and TWO books!
In 2009, I added the longarm and started machine quilting for customers (and quilting my own quilts). I’ve quilted a total of 1262 quilts on the longarm so far, and I don’t intend to quit anytime soon! I’m having fun with it.
In my 50 years of quilting, I’ve made nearly 600 quilts (with lots more still in the works), and given away or sold well over half of them. Several have been published, or won awards in quilt shows. It’s been a fun ride.
And I’m planning to keep going for a long time yet, God willing!
In some past years, I’ve introduced a new Welcome banner pattern to celebrate some of my milestone anniversaries, but this year, it didn’t even cross my mind, so we’ll just have to celebrate some other way!
I think I’m gonna start by making these Thick and Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies.
And then I’m gonna spend at least a half hour at my sewing machine accomplishing something worthwhile.
But I also need to include all of you!

Last year, my friend, Linda, (and my friend, Cindy) both managed to make 24 quilts in 2024. That inspired me to try for 25 quilts in 2025 (I only managed 19 last year), so I made this cute little tracker to tally them up (because, if you know me, you know I have to make things into a game). And yes, I already have THREE spots colored in! (I’ll show you those a bit later.)

Happy Anniversary Shelly! That is a milestone to be celebrated! I do not see me completing more than one maybe two quilts this year…I do intend on completing ALOT of WIP…at least 9. I take in consideration, vacations and the holidays. My word this year is “gluttony”…as I feel that way about my stash!
