Welcome! Today is my turn to present a block for the Glorious Autumn Block Party being hosted by Michele over at Quilting Gallery. Visit the site to see my designer profile. It’s a bit about me, a picture of me and My Cowboy, and some answers to some fun questions — stuff I’m sure you’ve always wanted to know about me — heehee!
My block is called Hide ‘n’ Seek, and it features simple applique with a bit of embroidery, surrounded by super quick and easy patchwork. You can download the free tutorial HERE.
You’ll need a 10″ x 12″ piece of background fabric, some scraps of oranges, black, grey, brown, and green for the applique, and some embroidery floss for the features on the cat and mouse and the leaf. You’ll also need six 2 1/2″ squares from fall-colored fabrics, and five 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles from fall-colored fabrics for the patchwork. I won’t go into the construction details here, because you’ll need the PDF file for the applique design anyway, and it’s all spelled out in detail in that file. But if you have any questions about it, don’t hesitate to contact me, and I’ll be more than happy to help you out.
Be sure to check out all the other blocks in the Block Party, and the daily Super Deals for Quilters that are being offered.
Tomorrow, there will be a block by Rochelle from Cottage Quilt Designs, and on Thursday, a block from Kimberly at Fat Quarter Shop, so be sure to check those out as well — plus even more Super Deals for Quilters! And this continues for several more weeks yet — that’s a lot of free block patterns! Don’t miss out.
If you make a block, don’t forget to add a photo of it to the Glorious Autumn Block Party Flickr Group so everyone can see it.
. . . and a little fall wall hanger that you can use to hang a cute little fall quilt on. It holds up to a 12″ wide mini. You could finish off your Hide ‘n’ Seek block as a mini quilt and hang it up with the hanger! Just sayin’ . . .
All you have to do to enter to win the kit and hanger is leave a comment here on this post. I’ll draw for a winner next Tuesday, September 25th.
UPDATE: The prize winner is Pam. Congratulations!
