Happy Halloween!

Posted on October 31, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in My Patterns, Quilts

I made a Halloween quilt over the weekend while I was at a retreat with some friends. Getting good pictures without My Cowboy’s help is nearly impossible, too. It’s a dreary, breezy day outside, and sort of misting. Perfect for Halloween, I guess, and at least it’s not cold!

I had purchased this assortment of Halloween fabrics a while back:

I added some other fabrics into the mix, too, and then used my AmpersAnd pattern to make the base:

Then I drew the big spider and appliquéd him on!

I used my leftovers to piece the backing, so it’s really sort of a reversible quilt!

I quilted it with all-over little loops with a silver thread, and quilted the spider with Glow-in-the-Dark thread! It looks so completely awesome in the dark, but I couldn’t get a picture of that! (My Cowboy is now dreaming up other things he thinks I should quilt with Glow-in-the-Dark thread!)

Here’s the details:

The finished quilt measures 56″ x 70″.
Pattern used: AmpersAnd (and I drew my own spider).
Fabrics are Halloween prints from several different lines, including Wilmington Prints and Quilting Treasures, plus a few others. I’ll be binding it with black Grunge from Moda. I purchased all of them at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop.
Batting: Warm ‘n’ Natural (and I pre-washed the batting — something I’ve never done before — and this quilt is so snuggly and soft already — in spite of the spider!)
Thread: Superior OMNI in color Silver for the main part; Superior Sew Glow, white-to-green, for the spider.

You can purchase the AmpersAnd pattern in my Etsy Shop, in either the print or PDF version.

The spider pattern is available for free download on my Free Patterns page.
