Feedin’ the Bulls

The ranch My Cowboy is working for is quite sprawling. For example, the house we live in, which is considered part of the ranch, is a good ten miles from the main ranch house. Driving between our place and the main ranch house, a good lot of what you can see is part of the ranch as well.

So there are cattle everywhere. And the bulls are pastured right to the west of our house right now. And My Cowboy needed to go feed them, so he asked me if I’d like to go along. It’s quite handy to have someone along to run the gates so you don’t have to keep climbing up and down off the tractor.

Wanna come along?

We’re leaving the driveway . . .

At the end of the driveway . . .

Headin’ down the road to the pasture gate . . .

Leavin’ our place behind . . .

Me opening the gate . . . (see? I actually DO work sometimes!) . . .

Here come the bulls . . .

We decided to go ahead and feed the babies while we had the tractor out . . .

Goin’ around the back side . . . what a view!

The babies were glad we brought some food . . . this is Molly, Janey, and Jake . . .

And little Tamale, our newest addition. Isn’t she adorable?

She wasn’t gonna make it in with the rest of the herd, so My Cowboy’s boss just gave her to us. I can baby her along and she’ll do just fine.

I just love it when they have hay hangin’ out of their mouths . . .

Aren’t they just so cute?

I think they are cute, too. Until it is time to eat one. I try to not make a pet of them. I remember when I knew my Grandad had slain Christmas…
…..the calf born on Christmas day. I decided then to never love one as a pet again.

However, Tamale could make me change my mind. Maybe.
