The last one for 2022!
Of course, even tho I toy with the idea of not doing this again, I WILL be doing this again for 2023. It’s motivating to see how much I can get done in a year, whether I can beat last year’s record, and to assure myself that I’m actually getting more done than I think I am sometimes (or less). I hope you’ll join me again!
I was on a serious reorganizing and finishing-up streak in December, so not as many blocks got made. That may be my plan for January as well. There are still some things I’d like to get off my plate before much more time has passed.
I ended up with only 14 blocks for December. Two of them are for my Postage Stamp quilt, a quilt I began way back in 2012, and am still working on very slowly.

This gave me a yearly total of 1199. I was trying to reach 2000, but obviously wasn’t paying enough attention to that goal!
How did your year end up?
It’s time to report in with your final totals. I’ll get the Project page updated within a few days, and post a wrap-up and announce the final prize winners on the 12th.
The prize winner for November is Cindy W.!
We’ll kick off the 2023 350 Blocks Project on January 17th, so be sure and stay tuned!
353 blocks done this month. I was able to complete 5 quilts for Christmas gifts. You got a lot of blocks done this year Shelly.
9 for December. Hopefully, moving in is almost at an end and sewing spaces are nearly completed.
Sadly not motivated enough to even reorganize let alone sew – finishing off the put away of Christmas 2022 today. Was able to down size Christmas by one tote! Looking at 2023 to downsize my sewing area by actually sewing! Thank you for sticking with it Shelly!
I managed a total of 37 blocks for December – 5 Christmas blocks for gifts, 22 blocks for kitchen Christmas gifts and 10 more blocks for my sister Rose’s petunia quilt. I hope to be able to do more blocks in 2023!
So glad you will be doing this next year! This was not a good month for me. My heating system froze, then the pipe burst flooding a room. For six days my sewing room was too cold, but now things have been repaired and I am sewing again. I made 80 blocks. The good news is that, this month,I gave 3 quilts to a charity and 14 quilts to the Isaiah 117 House for foster children.
Have a wonderful 2023! Thanks for your inspiration this year.
I did better than i expected this month – 100 rail blocks, 14 tree blocks, 14 log cabins, 3 bear paw blocks, and 128 hour glass blocks so 259 total. Only completed 2 quilts this month but maybe a fresh start next year!
63 for me. Merry Christmas and happy 2023!
201 for December! So many new project ideas for 2023, and plan on quilting 5 small NICU quilts and a large charity lap quilt first.
Btw, I have my total as 934 for the year so I’m wondering if I missed giving you my November count maybe? (I was really busy then)
I have had a bad month and it really became serious when I just now looked at my block list. NOTHING. Actually I realized that I could add 1. I made a Sunbonnet Sue applique block that got turned into a pillow. ONE BLOCK. First time in my quilting life.
31
Hi Shelly,
A big fat zero for me this month. I made numerous stuffed Christmas trees, a dinosaur and a quilted jacket but no quilt blocks were made this month.
Shelly = How is that signature quilt coming along?
92 blocks.. I have a large quilts of valor award coming up in February. Rockin the red, white and blue!
I made 122 blocks in December and ended the year with a total of 2208. Thanks for being willing to continue letting us post our progress next year. Happy New Year to everyone!
I made 90 blocks in December.
My total for December is 44
Thanks Shelly for a wonderful year. I will participate in 2023 too! It keeps me motivated.
Happy New Year🪡📍✂️🧵
Got busy with Christmas and only managed to get 2 blocks completed. Here’s to 2023!
Hi Shelly, I made 15. Thank you for this fun challenge each year.
My December block count left a lot to be desired. I ended up with 10 blocks thanks to task one in the final countdown. At least the top is done. Hopefully I will do better in 2023. Thanks again, Shelly, for a fun year. I completed 1121 blocks (I think), so that wasn’t too bad.
Nine blocks for me in December. Yearly total of 370! I made the 350, but not much to spare😜. This was my first time doing this and I’m looking forward to next year’s challenge. Thanks so much for doing this Shelly and keeping us motivated!
Thank goodness you’re doing it again! I need those encouraging numbers, and want to try to at least hit the 350 again. My December total was 41, giving me a yearly total of 108, because I only started sewing again on July 31. December post
Congratulations on getting over a thousand done!
I was able to make 41 blocks in December. Thank you for the monthly motivation. Looking forward to 2023 and all the new things that I will start. Hopefully there will be some big finishes as well. All the best to you and yours! 😍
100 blocks done this month. Like your postage stamp blocks.
Your block count is impressive. December brought an additional 120 blocks to my house, for a total of 858 for the year, my second highest total since I started keeping track. Thank you for doing this year after year.
Actually 878. Sorry about that.
Shelly, thank you so very much for hosting this! It really has been a big motivator for me since I joined and I appreciate the work that you put in behind the scenes! I love your postage stamp blocks, I have one of those in the works too. Most of the month was spent making the annual Christmas outfits and Chistmas Eve pjs for my kids, as well as a number of gifts. However, I was able to get some quilting in the past few days and brought my total up to 54 for the month. I’m hoping for more finished quilts and more blocks in the coming year!
I did 38 blocks this month. The final 4, (2 each) for “A quilting Life” BOM and ” Quilt Doodle Design” BOM. Added another 34 blocks to those to finish up the last quilt. I did sandwich and quilt 3 lap quilts. All I have to do is turn binding on my last one and I will have NO works in progress and can start working on the list in my head! lol Love, love, love your postage stamp quilt. Looking forward to playing along next year.
430 blocks to finish the year. Happy New Year
Just 11 blocks in December. I was busy finishing up some things–got the borders on a quilt, binding on another, and did some quilting, so not many blocks. Happy 2023!
November 5
December 5
I did a lot of appliqué and embroidery on these last ones.
2023 is to finish ufo’s of mine and my sisters who died in April.
Love doing the count!!!
Bev
I made 43 blocks in December! That made a total of 518 blocks for 2022 which is way down compared to 2021. I’m hoping to get 3 or 4 new quilts made for myself this year since I put myself last. I’m glad you’re hosting this again. Thank you so much!
Been sewing in Dec but only one block finished. Aprons, curtains, baby blanket, oven mitts have been under my needle as well as travel.
I’ll be with you this year if only to put a push behind my needle.
I finally got to make a few blocks this month. 101 blocks made and I quilted and bound 2 small quilts. I also needed a winter table topper so made that little one in one day and then made a pillow for my granddaughter’s dolls.
Only 33 for me this month, although I had some other fun sewing projects until things got derailed with Covid. I’ll be joining in again in 2023. Happy New Year!
As usual, December was very busy with other activities etc, so only 13 for me. Looking forward to 2023 block reports!
Deana J made 64 blocks in December with a total of 596 in 2022. It was a great year!
Thanks for the fun challenge!
I got NOTHING done in 2022 as far as sewing. Physically and mentally out of it most of the year. We finally moved in June and I still couldn’t get myself to sew. Most of my things are in boxes or tubs in storage. Moved and lost my sewing room. This house is tiny! 2 bedrooms instead of 4. My sewing area is now where the dinning room should be. No dinning table or kitchen table because I would lose this tiny space that i need for my sanity.
I remember when I got married in 1973 that I sewed on a board that laid across 2 stacks of Rubbermaid tubs. I was happy to have that little space. I will make do.
Well its a new year. My daughter gave me 2 nighties and 3 flannel pj pants. Had to cut off 8 inches so these things don’t drag on the floor under my slippers. I already use a walker. Don’t want to borrow back my wheel chair. Haha.
I got one of each done. I also cleaned my machine. Didn’t need it because I cleaned it in May and never used it. Just wanted to get familiar with her again! I
want to sign up for the 350 challenge! I will make at least one block today.
Happy New Year, Happy Sewing!
28 for me. I tried the 15 minute a day regime and actually it worked!
54 for me for a total of 441, the most blocks I’ve made since I’ve been participating. I’m glad you’re doing it again. It keeps me motivated.
I ended up with 44 blocks for December, bringing my grand total for the year to 1145. I also finished a small wallhanging, plus completed one quilt top and pieced a back for it too. Looking forward to keeping track again next year!
I was waiting because I thought there might be a huge number of blocks completed on New Year’s Eve, but NO. Apparently the best way to start 2023 is with a good night’s sleep. So my total will be 98 for the month.
I was able to get 337 blocks for December. I did a lot of sewing. I complete 9 quilts, one was king sized. 5 knitted Christmas stocking and to pj bottoms. I am in for 2023. Happy sewing everyone. I love to read all the messages to all leave!!!
Not much piecing was done this month, too many holiday chores. Only 4 blocks, but hopefully I have 350 total for the year.
My December wasn’t too bad. I got 84 blocks done, 2 sets of 30 for particular quilts, and the rest were random ones, trying to tame my scrap bins.
Zero blocks this month. Finished a quilt and working on binding on another, but no blocks made. It was a super busy month trying to get ready for Christmas. Glad you are trying it another year as it does help to motivate us.
2185 blocks for the year!
https://zanasninis.blogspot.com/2022/12/2022-350-blocks-challenge.html
My December block count is 0. I did really bad for 2 months. Maybe next year will be better.
Total for December: 10. Finished quilting one and another is on the table. A friend has a long arm and is quilting every week, so I might have her do my quilting which frees me to piece each day. This plan would finish many ufo projects…hmmm.
I want to participate in 2023. Thanks for your hours of effort for us.
One churn dash block. I did finish three quilt tops.
Well I didn’t make a lot blocks for December…finishing tops and traveling most of the month. The final countdown encouraged me to finish a small wallhanging that was 9 of my blocks. Total for Dec was 44 blocks.
I didn’t get my Nov blocks reported…I made 118 in Nov. it was a busy month but included retreat time!
Im looking forward to next year but feel I will be concentrating on finishing quilts and not making too many blocks. Time will tell, I have a hard time not starting new projects and some of the UFOs have more blocks to make.
Thanks for offering this challenge it’s great to have some accountability 😊
December blocks total was 73
61 were more of the Cracker Blocks (these are very addictive) and
12 Asian Tiles. I took them apart and sewed them back together – perfectly backwards the same way they were prior to taking them apart. Gonna just run with them this way.
Hi Shelly. I am so happy you’ll be doing it again. I enjoy the challenge of keeping track of what I manage to do in a month and seeing how every one else is doing. My 2022 was pretty much a wash out after losing my great granddaughter in February and then helping my best friends with end of life planning and his passing in September. I’m on track already with my spreadsheet being constructed as I’m writing this. 😉
0 blocks for me in December. I spent the month quilting and binding a bunch of table runners that I gave as Christmas gifts. Probably won’t get much done in Jan or Feb, since I had total hip replacement surgery Dec 30th. I plan to work on my EPP quilt those months. Happy New Year!!
December block count is 197. Some last-minute Christmas projects created that number of blocks.
I made 4 blocks in December. Then Christmas and visitors, then our delayed house move. May take a while to find my new sewing space! Well done on all your blocks – I love the postage stamp blocks!
Well done on your tally 🙂 I made 25 blocks in December (12 in November and 10 in October – I’m not sure when I last checked in!)…and was pleasantly surprised to see that my year’s total was over 350 – I made 373 this year – the most so far 🙂 I’m looking forward to beating that tally next year.
oops I mean, “beating that tally THIS year!”
