Cowgirl Up!

I’ve added a couple new patterns to my Etsy shop in the last few days.

One of them is this little cutie:

Cowgirlquilt

I originally designed this quilt for the Cowgirl Club back in 2010 as a series quilt. Folks who were not in the Cowgirl Club have been begging me for the pattern ever since, so now that some time has passed, I’ve put it all together into one pattern.

It’s built from the center out, in sections, so you can stop after the first section and have a small wall quilt or pillow, or you can keep going, adding as many of the sections as you wish, to make the 44″ x 50″ throw quilt shown.

Or . . . you can use the suggestions offered in the pattern to make it even bigger!

The center of this quilt has a printed panel. You can purchase panels like this online in several different places, or have your own printed on Spoonflower. Or if you don’t want the panel there, you can simply use a focal print of your choice in that spot.

For my letters in the applique border of my quilt, I realized I should not have used such a busy print — I don’t like how it turned out once I cut the letters out of it. I mention in the pattern that you can learn from my mistake and choose a better fabric for the letters.

To fix mine, I used a fabric marker, and colored in the white spots, and now I like it much better!

Words

The first Cowgirl Club packets for 2016 are coming out next week, and if you buy a Cowgirl Club packet, you’ll be getting this pattern for free in your packet. So keep your eyes peeled for the announcement, or if you aren’t planning on purchasing a Cowgirl Club packet, the pattern is for sale right now, in PDF format only, in my Etsy shop.

I also finally got listed my Autumn Welcome pattern, now that fall is long past us! I’m just gonna go with the theory that if you get it now, you’ll have lots of time to get this one done before fall of 2016 is upon us!

This is the little wall quilt I taught on the cruise last fall. You can use your own favorite method of applique for this little 14″ x 20″ quilt. There’s a little bit of embroidery embellishment on it, too.

AutumnWelcome

Autumn Welcome is available in both print and PDF versions in my Etsy shop, too.

And if you didn’t catch my post yesterday, I’ve added a free Valentine quilt pattern called Candy Hearts to my Free Patterns page, so go get that one for sure because it’s free!

  1. What a great pattern! And thanks for the link! I’m bookmarking it for buying a panel or block.

I like both designs. Love the cowgirl and especially the barbed wire quilting in the brown border.

    Hello.
Love the cowgirl quilt with the vintage images. Did you buy all the focus cowgirls from vintage America?
If you did, how big did you resize the side focus cowgirls when you printed them on the fabric. Did you have to trim them down ?
Can wait to get started on it. So very cute.
