Brunswick Forest

It’s here! The new Block-of-the-Month for Sew Sweet Quilt Shop!

This year’s quilt is a sampler of trees, hence the name Brunswick Forest. Twelve different tree blocks, set into an asymmetrical setting, just as a forest would actually be. As always, we do two versions of the quilt, just for more options.

Here is the fall-colored version:

Here is the non-traditional version:

Both versions measure 80″ x 95″ finished, and have pieced scrappy backgrounds. You can choose to add in the extra small Maple Leaf blocks (as in the fall-colored version), or leave them out for more negative space (as in the non-traditional version). You can do a scrappy border, or a plain border as well — the choice is yours — because I’m a huge fan of lots of options!

You can also choose any other setting you prefer for your blocks. In fact, there is a third setting for this quilt that will be available once we get started, and I’ll show you that closer to time, so you’ll have even more options for what to do with your trees.

There’s also going to be a quilt-along associated with the BOM this time that will start shortly after the BOM begins in September, and I’ll provide an extra free pattern for that, so stay tuned!

And . . . each month, on the second Saturday when the block kits become available, I will post some additional information about each block and section that will help you with the construction along the way.

When you sign up, you purchase the pattern booklet, specify which color option you’ll be doing (and yes, you can do both, if you want), then each month, you receive a packet to make the block as shown. You can pick your packets up in-store, or they will be happy to mail them to you, either way. You receive only the fabric for making the blocks, and the setting is completely up to you. Sew Sweet usually makes additional setting fabric packets available for purchase about halfway through the program, which runs from September through August. But these quilts lend themselves to great use of scraps, so you can use pretty much anything! You can also purchase the booklet by itself, and not sign up for the monthly block packets (another option).

For information on how to get signed up and how the program works, please contact Sew Sweet Quilt Shop directly at 660.548.3056. They can sign you up over the phone, and answer any questions you may have. The pattern booklet is available only through the shop.

When the program kicks off on September 11, I’ll be talking some more about all the various options you may have for the setting, announcing the quilt-along, and providing some more information that will help, and I’ll be here to help all along the way, with posts on the second Saturday of each month for the duration.

Love trees!!!! Your fall quilt is impressive. Is it possible to purchase the patterns only? I have sooo much fabric and this would be an excellent way to use stash.
