August 350 Blocks Report

Posted on September 1, 2016 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

I guess I only thought I was busy before, because August sure went by in a blur!

How did you do on block making?

I’m counting another 45 this month. I made all the blocks for the new Block-of-the-Month quilts for Sew Sweet Quilt Shop, and I’ll be showing you those quilts in the next couple days — as soon as I get time to post about them.

And I made the 20 blocks for this quilt that I showed you a couple weeks ago — Starflowers — this is the smaller version.

Starflowers2

Other than that, I’m still so behind on everything, the overwhelm is really stressing me out! It also makes me feel bad that I didn’t even get to respond to all your comments last month, and only just now got the Project page updated. I hope to do better this coming month.

So now it’s your turn to report in — how many blocks did you get done this month? Or was your month super busy with other stuff, and sewing sort of went by the wayside?

Leave a comment and let me know; and as usual, please double-check your totals and make sure I have yours right. I’ve been known to miss a number or two, or put them on the wrong person’s tally — such a scatterbrain lately!

The prize winner for July is Kathy F — woohoo!

September and October are my favorite months of the year, so I’m hoping to enjoy them to the fullest. Today, September 1st, is so far a most beautiful fall day. I hope you all have a great month, too — happy stitching!!

    I did better with 22

    I’m so behind I can’t believe it.

I did 4 blocks for the month. . and that was only because I had to get them done for swaps! LOL

I can’t wait until life calms down, swaps are over, then I can do things for myself!

  3. Barb B says:

Finally, I got to sew something together! Put me down for 50. Maybe September will be even better.

Stop and take time for yourself. Make your list and chip away at it. You can do it, Shelly!

  4. Sue H says:

Thanks to my wedding quilt and sewing weekend with Aunt Janet I have 330 to report.

  5. Becky says:

I sew daily. Usually very early in the mornings while DH is outside doing his morning chores. It’s wonderful!

I made 86 blocks in August.

  6. Leah G. says:

Only 1 block this month!! The Westering Women
block of the month. I have been quilting tops
for a Wounded Warrior event in October.
No apologies, just quilting my brains out!!!!!

  7. August was super busy for me also plus two weeks of traveling to visit family in two states. So all I have to report is 15 blocks for me this past month.

Stop once in a while Shelly and take a deep breath, and enjoy the peace that brings you. Blessings,

80 log cabin blocks in Tula Pink fabrics! I am buying the BOM pattern. Not sure which layout I am doing or whether I am doing it as a BOM or using my own fabrics. I am getting a bundle of the new Fig Tree fabric called Chestnut Street. I would like to use that but I think I like the modern setting. How do you make the large circles around the stars in your quilting?

  11. Maxine E. says:

163 total blocks for me in August. I finished up a few Christmas projects and a couple of quilt tops.

  12. Janet V says:

Sue was up for the weekend I got 209 blocks done

  13. Suelynn Williams says:

    10 blocks for me
(7 were folded log cabins for a class resulting in a finished wall hanging – hooray)
1 was a challenge block – leader chose a picture, cut it up in a grid, gave each participant a 2″ square with instructions to make a 6″ finished block. I won the pieces – now the challenge to get them to fit together since some are 6″ and some are 6 1/2 inches…and one person is late!!! It’s a hibiscus flower. Got my sewing machine services and went to a retreat – wow – that is a LOT.

I look forward to seeing your sample quilts/blocks that you made. The one in the post is really pretty in that smaller size block. I did okay, mostly because of the great beginning of the month, but also because of one day this week. My post shows 71 blocks for August, and 670 for the year. Thanks for doing this! I hope you find some breathing room and don’t get overwhelmed.
