A Sad and Tough Decision

Posted on April 23, 2026 by prairiemoonquilts in What's New

I have a big announcement today . . .

I’m shutting down my website soon.

I’ve been debating this for nearly a year. The site is out of date, so therefore, it’s getting out of compliance, and since I’m trying to downsize everything in my life, I don’t want to pour money into an entirely new site, so I’ve made the decision to just get rid of it now.

It’s sad because I’ve had a website since 2009, so this feels like the end of something big, and I guess it is!

It’s been my way to keep in touch with all of you for the last 17 years.

So I’ve been struggling to come up with ways to continue being in touch with those of you who still want to stay in touch.

I’ll let you know in a couple weeks what those ways will be. I’m still working on some alternatives.

But I thought I’d at least get on here now and let you know things are changing, so that you have time to go download any of the free patterns you didn’t already get, or print off a recipe you want to keep. It’ll be a few weeks before anything drastic happens!

And stay tuned for how this is all gonna work. Once I get it all figured out, I’ll let you know where you can still keep up with me in the future.

I did love reading your blog and it was such fun too. Thank you for making me smile so many times. It’s hard work to live a life (and farming to boot!), quilt and write a blog at the same time. The selfish part of me says oh noooooo! But then again you must do what you feel is better for you. So I wish you all the best while keeping fingers crossed you stop our way now and again. Big hugs xxxxx

Earlier today I was thinking of you when I looked at the quilt I made from one of your patterns. I’ll miss your writing and pictures and trust you’ll find a new way to share your stories. XOXO and best wishes always.

Dear Friend Shelly, Sometimes it’s necessary to pull back from that which we have been doing (and enjoying) for years and just regroup. You address many areas of a quilter in your blog and have helped me in many ways. I hope whatever you’re considering works out, but if not, sadness! I understand doing what you have to do in order to give yourself peace. Hugs……..

I salute your courage to make a healthy decision for yourself. If it is right for you it is right for everyone!!! Wise words from a friend.

Like so many I have enjoyed your website and emails. Your enthusiasm, willingness to share the struggles with the collective clutter of being a quilter were especially inspiring to me. I no longer hide my sewing room! It is work in various stages of completion.
Thank you for your honesty, your generosity ( your animal stories, your Cowboy and his witticisms must be saved !!!) and your commitment to family! Than you.

I hear David Bowie every time I read or hear about someone or something ending or closing their doors. “Ch Cha Changes” not the rest of the song, just that phrase… it’s a ripple in life isn’t it? I wish you well. I hope to still follow your endeavors.

  17. Candice says:

Oh no!!! But like one other lady said- I really respect your courage to do what’s best for yourself!!! Hope there will be some small way we can still keep in touch. I’ve enjoyed your blog soooo much! Thank you for everything!
