The 350 Blocks Project, April Report

Posted on April 30, 2013 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Four months of the year gone already! And I think spring might actually finally be here.

The arrival of spring did not bring me any sudden spurts of productivity so that I could get more blocks finished, but I did manage to make 24 blocks this month. I’m up to a grand total of 71 now . . . I’ve got some catching up to do. As for April’s blocks . . .

Four of them I can’t show you yet.

One is just a block I forgot to count last month.

Seventeen of them were to finish up a quilt I’ll be showing you next week, so stay tuned for that announcement. And one was another quilt top that only counts as one big block . . . yet again . . . it seems I’m making a lot of those lately. I’ll show you that one next week, too.

So the only one I can actually show you right now is this final block, and it’s one I’ve already shown you before, but it counts for this month. It’s this little wall quilt top I made at our guild retreat. I could probably count it as more than one block, but it’s small, so I’m not.Fripperytop

And by now, you may have noticed that I never got around to announcing the winners from last month’s drawing. So I’ll be doing that right now, before we move on . . .

For those who reached the goal of at least 76 blocks, Cathy S. is the random drawing winner. She’s up to 278 blocks already! I presume that by the next drawing, she’ll have already met the 350 blocks goal.

And the random drawing of all participants reveals Linda H as the other winner for March. Linda is up to 50 blocks so far, still ahead of me, and I’m still behind.

The next monthly and year-to-date totals have been posted on The 350 Blocks Project page, so you can go see if your total is correct, and see what you have to accomplish for the month of May.

And now it’s time for all of you to let me know your final totals for April. You can leave a comment on this post, and if you write your own post about it, be sure and leave us a link. You can also email me your total, or use the contact form HERE. As always, you need to give me your updated total, and let me know you’re participating, so you can get in on the prize drawings. I’ll draw one random winner from everyone who met the goal of at least 106 blocks, and one random winner from all the participants in general (excluding myself, of course). I’ll try not to wait an entire month to draw the winners this time!

Don’t forget, I get confused easily, so when you send me your totals, be sure and let me know if it’s just for April (and I’m supposed to add it to your already posted total), or if it’s your complete total altogether. That way I won’t have it posted incorrectly. Thanks!

Now I need to go work on getting caught up, and see if I can become as productive as most of you have been so far!

Okay, it’s not time yet. Technically I still have ’til midnight to try to get more blocks done!!!!! You’re jumping the gun.

During April, I made 18 more civil war exchange blocks. I also made 2 blocks in Edyta Sitar’s Greenhouse table runner class. This brings me to a cumulative total of 208 blocks.

April report is 37 for a total of 156 at the 1/3 mark! If this keeps up, I’ll make it. Yay! Thanks for this idea. It really makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something!

I did a little better this month. I have 28 for April. 27 confetti cake blocks and a table runner made at the guild retreat.

  5. I will get you my block count. You’re doing well, Shelly! Nice job. I know how busy you’ve been! I think Linda H is my SIL! (She uses a different screen name on my blog, so that’s why I’m not sure.) I think she’s having computer problems. If you have trouble getting hold her her, let me know. I can help! She will be so excited!

I almost made it to 350, I am at a grand total of 343. I only made 15 blocks this month… I have made a page on my blog to keep my progress and show the blocks that I have done for the month. I am so excited that I won last month. Thank you so much.

44 for the month, 133 for the year so far. Not great, but not bad. Details here: http://weddingdressblue.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/april-350-block-project-report/

I did 32 blocks for April! Not sure what my total is for the year, I have to figure out January, for some reason I lost that total from my tote board and that was my best month because I finished Easy Street. My blocks were all for 2 different scrap quilts I am piecing: my Oklahoma Backroads creates the bonus triangles for my Flock of Geese Blocks. A finish on Oklahoma Backroads is in sight because I kitted up the last 25 blocks of 100 I am making for that top. The Flock of Geese quilt does not have a name yet, but that will be an ongoing project. Since the blocks finish at 6 inches, I figure I need to make 196 of those for a bed size quilt.

  9. I did a whole whopping 2 churndash blocks in the whole month of April, [shaking my head in disgust] for a grand overall total of 34. umph umph.

I had a big fat zero for the month of April… 🙁 I finally started on my knitting again so hopefully I’ll get to some quilting in May! 😛
