November 350 Blocks Report

Posted on November 30, 2023 by prairiemoonquilts in 350 Blocks Project

Wow! Only one more month left to go in this entire year — that went fast! But I think I always say that.

I barely met the block goal this month. I ended up with 37 more blocks to add to my total. There were days I never even got to touch my sewing machine, which is really unusual.

I finished all the blocks for this quilt, but haven’t yet started to set them together, but that’s high on my list of to-dos for real soon:

I made a few more Maple Leaves. Someday I might actually get this quilt finished!

I made two more Blast from the Past blocks. I have 10 more to go, and then I realized that there’s some filler that also needs to be made, so I have a ways to go on this, but I just keep chipping away at it.

I made 4 more Snowball blocks, and 6 more Sweet Kisses blocks, but they weren’t interesting enough to take photos of!

How did YOU do in  November?

It’s time to report in with your totals. Our final block goal for the year is 32 blocks for December to get us to our goal of 350 blocks! I’m hoping to get at least 32 more blocks finished before year’s end.

Our prize winner for October is Wendy T. She’s got 306 blocks for the year so far — I think she can meet the goal, don’t you? She’s also got a great blog — you should go check it out HERE.

The Project Page is updated as of this morning, if you need to go check it out and see where you stand (and make sure I have your numbers right).

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, and are headed into a wonderful rest of 2023. It’ll be New Year’s Eve before we can blink! Go get that last-minute stitching finished! And I’ll be back with some more stuff to show you. I have so many things to share, but never enough time to just sit down at the computer and git ‘er dun!

I made a big fat zero blocks this month, but I did manage to quilt and bind 3 twin size quilts. I also cut out 8 more quilts to take to Florida this winter.

  2. Randy Menninghaus says:

    94 blocks for me.

  3. Ginny says:

Best Block count in a month this year: 75. Blocks done for 3 tops. All awaiting quilting. Christmas gift sewed. Working on more gifts. May not get much quilting done in Dec except finish the three needing quilting. Two go the quilter Monday. In the middle of cutting a quilt that is going slow because of special cutting for the pieces of the block. On to Pillow cases for today
    Merry Christmas to all.

  4. Moira says:

I made 104 plus blocks this month for my double the plus quilt (Quilty Love pattern) It’s now on the longarm and mostly quilted. There is some (slim) chance that it will be completed before the weather gets cold enough to need it on the bed.

  5. Ioleen says:

I managed to sew one big 24 patch block. Took me days 😂😂. Arm is getting better by the day for still not 100%.

  6. Wendy says:

Oh, I’m so excited to win! I better get stitching in December to meet that goal! I only have 20 for this month, but I’m a little closer to the year’s goal! Thanks, Shelly, for the win and for the little plug for my blog!

  7. Pam Desilets says:

    Hi all,
No blocks for me this month, still recovering from a broken hip. Hope to be able to sew for next month.
I did make two pairs of socks and started a sweater.

  8. Kerry says:

Still working on your quilt pattern, working on the last block units now.
Met up with my friend, and I made a mistake – not Project Linus, but she makes quilts for the Alzheimer’s Society to sell in their shops – for all ages. She was so thrilled to get the novelty fabric for children’s quilts – I wrapped her gifts with them. I was happy that she was happy – and it all goes to a good cause! Bonus is I have less fabric! Win win for all!

  9. Wanda says:

    11 blocks

  10. Diana S says:

loving your blocks Shelley. I managed 12 for the month. Not overly thrilled with them for the gift quilt. So new pattern and these will go elsewhere! Will get to those in December! I did however get 4 quilts bound for our local Linus group. We managed a trip to the coast over Thanksgiving. First trip for me in 2 years. It was a nice break. Hoping I do better in December. Always next year to b do better.

  11. Suelynn Williams says:

Challenged myself to make a fall table topper. It still needs a bit of embroidery on the leaves. I ran into a problem when the fuse blew out to the part of the house where my sewing machine and iron are located. I am managing with an extension cord until an electrician can check it out. I flipped the circuit breakers in the garage with no luck. All that to say: I completed 17 blocks in November!

  12. KT says:

Just 20 blocks for me in November. I need to get back to my maple leaves as well–I had run out of the background I was using, but I think I bought more…..need to dig it out and get to work!

  13. PAULA M MO says:

Wait, what? It’s the end of the month already? I looked the strips I cut in the beginning of the month are still laying across my sewing chair. So, a big fat zero for me!

But, Christmas is done, wrapped, and packed! Just need to fill the stockings!

  14. Kathi Benchley says:

I completed 30 blocks in November.

  15. Fran says:

Only 6 blocks this month, but one was a complicated appliqué block. I did sew labels on 9 quilts and am busy working on another appliqué block.

  16. I kicked out 265.
    Love the maple leaves!

  17. Ginabeth says:

Love the blocks and quilts you made. I’m sure you are starting to get excited about moving, even with all the work.
For this month I had 26 blocks. Was surprised it ended up so many as I stalled out on most of my sewing. But did get blocks together for 2 quilts tops.

    Have a wonderful December📍,
    Ginabeth

  18. Kathy P says:

Love that Jammin’ Jelly pattern. I squeezed out 20 blocks for the month. I was sick so it was a struggle just to go to work.

  19. Bev C. says:

I did 292 blocks this month. Put together 3 quilt tops. Added to my pile of quilts to be sandwiched and quilted. Hopefully I will get that started this month. Still going down the rabbit hole. Started another quilt this morning and I have one to make for a chapter challenge. I really need to focus on finishing what I’ve already done.
    Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

  20. Joan says:

29 blocks done and one quilt top finished, unless I decide to make it bigger! Working on scrap quilts, as I have a lot of odds and ends that accumulated in a tote that is now overflying due to an attempt to organize sewing projects. Looking forward to picking a Christmas project (from those that are incomplete) now that December has arrived.

  21. Only 10 for me this month

  22. Marlene Clausen says:

123 for November. Am now attacking Christmas gifts. No blocks involved. Once those are off the table, I will be clear to make some new, fun quilts! Have a stack of projects awaiting my attention, including my monthly goal of a QOV per month. Still want to make an effort to get all those “quilts in waiting” quilted and bound. A busy year ahead; but, after 1 1/2 years of moving out, moving in, getting unpacked and organized I can see “normalcy” returning to my days. (I use that term lightly!!) OH!! and my dear son-in-law has promised to string my backyard clothesline, sooner rather than later, so I will be able to hang clothes and quilts and have a good place to take quiltshots. Merry Christmas!

  23. Amanda says:

I made 12 blocks in November! It helps that my husband has been working in the garage at the studio where my fabric and machines are. I’ve also quilted a few quilts in November due to more time being spent here.

  24. Ceil Podzimek says:

I only managed 10 blocks for November – 10 Trixie bags for our guild “Penny Lane” boutique and quilt show in March where we will show off the Beatles projects that the participating guild members will present for voting at our Christmas meeting next week. I did finish quilting the Jen Kingwell’s Green Tea and Sweet Beans quilt I’m sending to my other sister in Alabama next week. Just one more sister to go and that will be mailed after the first of the year.

  25. Rose says:

I completed 32 blocks in November. The new puppy is making my stitchin time limited.

  26. Marsha P says:

    32 blocks for me.

  27. Debbi says:

Seems like I’ve been sewing a lot since I got home but only 10 blocks for me. Making them into quilted pillow covers for Xmas gifts. I also made bowl cozies and quilted a Christmas tree skirt. Still have some small gifts I want to make, but can’t keep from planning new quilts to make in the new year.

  28. Cindy Wienstroer says:

Finally found the groove – got 135 hexie blocks done with 2 triangles on them so can sew into rows. Got the top & backing done today 12/1 but all blocks done last month. Yeah.

  29. Susan S says:

made 3 gnome table runners for gifts. Each had 12 pinwheel blocks in them so I suppose I can count 36 blocks this month. It was the 1st time in a long time I did machine applique and my machine was acting up so they werent much fun. But they are done! love your maple leaf blocks.

  30. Rose Marie Smith says:

I made 54 blocks this month. But most of them are super simple scrap blocks. Putting them into quilts that go to community service. And getting the fabric stuff used!!

  31. Sharon Gratz says:

Hi Shelly, I only made 3 blocks in Nov, but I played around with a few UFOs, determined what was next, and put the fabric with it so I’ll remember. lol 88 yr old DH fell and broke his arm so a lot of energy has gone into doing whatever needed to be done.

  32. Barbara B says:

    127 blocks completed in Nov.

  33. Put me down for 46 blocks. Made two flimsies for our church group and some crumb blocks . I have no idea what I’m going to do with them, but they were fun to put together. Blessings to you and Merry Christmas!

  34. Linda Knight says:

I made 32 blocks in November to piece a quilt top for the new great grandbaby due next year.

  35. Shirley Guier says:

I have 98 for last month! making a quilt for a friend from her fathers western shirts. I’m quilting it now.

  36. Stephanie says:

56 blocks for me. A mix of various types – 16 patches, wonky stars, an Elizabeth Hartmann cactus pot and a set of large double framed squares for a new quilt.

  37. Paula Mu says:

Sorry for the late reply. I had 100 blocks this month. 1 gnome block on a mug rug, 4 stars in a table runner, 9 stars in a tree skirt, 15 blocks in the Cozy Mug project from last years MSQC box, 20 scrappy spools blocks, 1 Sherry Mc BOM, and 50 Celebration blocks. I must confess to a bit of double counting. I count the block in the spool and then count the piecing the spool with the block in it for another. I hope everyone has a great holiday. I hope your house is coming along well, Shelly. I haven’t read your post as much as I like. It has been busy here.

  38. ChrisGG says:

Only 40 this month which is low for me. Been busy making items for my church’s Herb and Craft Fair in April. Made 10 fabric popcorn bags and started on the aprons made from recycled jeans. Still sewing!

  39. Randy Menninghaus says:

Happy December every one. Ever notice how time starts to speed up around now?

  40. Beverly V. says:

You seem to get a lot finished every month. This month I got 37 blocks done. I finished the appliquéd baby quilt, and the top of my memory quilt. I hope I can keep this momentum going.

  41. Deanna says:

November brought 99 blocks, which is more than I expected. An impulse quilt snuck in, make from one of the two kits I bought at the amazing quilter garage sale. Total for the year so far: 786.

  42. Carissa says:

Looks like you made good progress in spite of time away from your machine. My time at retreat paid off, with that time and a few other snatches here and there I was able to complete 306 blocks. December looks like a lot of finishing, but I hope that I can sneak in a few blocks as well.

  43. My November total was better than expected. I ended up with an even 100 blocks for the month!

  44. Danice says:

None for me in November. I had to wear an arm brace, so could not sew.
