Mad Dash Sew-Along, Week 24

Posted on September 13, 2022 by prairiemoonquilts in Mad Dash

It’s time for Section Eight! Only one more section after this. You should be getting faster at the assembly part, since you’ve done all the hard things at least once. And if you have your stockpile of blocks done, which you should by now, it’s all gonna be fast to finish from here.

And I realized we’re dangerously close to the end and I haven’t done a give-away yet! So read on to the bottom for that . . .

Section Eight is really straightforward stitching. No partial seams! Just make sure to get your 1/3 – 2/3 blocks turned correctly, as always.

Here’s my original pink/gray version Section Eight:

And my orange/low-volume version Section Eight:

In the last two weeks, I haven’t touched my new lime green and raspberry pink version, but I hope to get back to it soon. Fall is here, and I am hoping my mojo returns along with it.

So how about that give-away? I’m reasonably certain that it’s too late for you to use these fabrics in your Mad Dash quilt (unless you’re as far behind as I am), but I’m sure you can use it elsewhere, so I’m giving away this 3-piece bundle of 1/3-yard cuts (1 yard total).

All you have to do for a chance to win it is leave a comment on this post. It’s open to everyone, whether you’re making a Mad Dash quilt or not, because everyone loves fabric, right? I’ll draw for a winner on September 20th.

And the winner is: Becky!

I hope your Mad Dash is going well! Until next time . . .

This weekend we had to eat at a restaurant that was so loud we had to shout at one another! Thank goodness for low volume fabrics.

Shelly, it has been too long since I’ve been in touch and in the quilt world. Life does tend to get in the way at times, but I’m trying my best to now throw myself back in 110%. I also figure this is a darn good time to re-focus a bit and try my hand at design and pattern writing. Also, I want to dabble in garment design and hope to pick up where I left off a few years back when I was a personal designer for a wonderful lady. The idea is to carry her one point she wanted in all her clothing – “make a statement when I enter the room; make another as I walk out!” I can only imagine what a character she must have been in her younger years!

Read in some of your previous blogs you have been having a time with your arms! I hope you are healing and treating yourself to the time it takes. Not easy for those of us who have things that need to be done!

Curious how you knew I need to replenish my white background fabrics. Also, I need to organize a couple cabinets, so I know exactly what I have and what I need to be on the lookout for in colors.

    Take care!

  6. Peggy says:

I could really use some low volume fabrics as I have a lot of colored scraps but very little to go with them.

  7. Shirley Guier says:

Love the fabrics and yes they can an go in something else. Mad dash is on my list of the next one to quilt.

  8. Kathleen Coleman says:

Love these little prints. Thanks for all that you share.
