Did you sew like the wind in June? I tried, but I still feel like I’m seriously behind and moving in slow motion. I did do better than last month, tho, and ended up with 131 blocks for June.
I made some more blocks for my Mad Dash quilt, some more Vintage Melons, twelve 16-patches, four 9-patches, four tiny HST blocks, 10 blocks for secret sewing projects, and 15 blocks from the baby quilt scraps so I could use them up.
I also couldn’t resist, and did indeed jump in on Edyta Sitar’s Summer Mystery 2022, and so far we’ve made 44 blocks, and I am keeping up (which is the biggest shocker). Here are some of my blocks:
And I’ve made four of the so-far-released eight blocks of Blast from the Past Mystery by American Patchwork & Quilting. Blocks 9 and 10 come out tomorrow, so I need to get caught up with that.
I also finished Block 7 of my Daredevils quilt. Only 5 more to go — I wonder how many years those 5 will take me? I’ve managed to drag this out for three years already!
So that’s what I’ve been working on. How about you?
It’s time to report in! I have the Project Page updated (it took me all month to get it updated). I also didn’t get all of you responded to last time, but I did read all the comments. There’s just been a lot going on!
Our July block goal is 31, for a year-so-far total of 196.
The May prize winner is Denniele. She’s up to 262 blocks so far! Getting close to that 350 mark already.
So tomorrow, we launch into July. I can hardly believe this year is half over already. I feel like winter will be here soon, and I’m already dreading it! I hope you all have a wonderful, safe Fourth of July holiday weekend, and get lots of sewing time throughout the month.
Managed 35 this month – much better, but not like you – Wow. Mine were for baby quilts top I hand over to St. Anne’s members to finish. They’re a church group of quilters I belong to.
186 blocks for June – most went into one twin top, and the leftovers are in process of becoming two smaller tops.
I love Edyta’s fabrics, and you blocks are looking great. Guess what- 41 blocks completed in June by me.
I made 50 blocks this month.
Sharon G
I actually made 28 blocks– way better than last month
I only made 2 quilt blocks in June. Hot weather, quilting for friends, and a crazy life has caused a lack of motivation for me.
40 for me this month, not too bad for being gone a good chunk of the month!
21 blocks
Hi all, I was able you complete a baby quilt with 48 blocks. I have backing and binding made . Now to fine time to quilt it before my need total knee replacement (left one) on August 4. I have been knitting, making a pair of socks. Happy sewing to all.
I managed 32 blocks for June! Still making bags for our guild’s fundraisers which took 28 blocks for 4 different bag patterns. I also made 3 wine totes for the fundraisers. I am officially done with bags (for now)! I have quilts ready for quilting and 2 quilts I need to start and/or work on for 2 more of my sisters.
Shelly, you got a lot done, and the blocks look so nice!
I made 156 blocks in June for a YTD total of 1066. Many of those blocks finished at 1/2” square (crazy!) so I counted 16-patches as one block.
Happy Fourth to everyone.
Well, June was windy-er for me than May was: 64 blocks. That pushes me over 400. We’ll see what July holds.
I finished 230 blocks, I don’t count until the quilt is done. I had so many things in the process and nothing done for a number of months. So, this is great for me.
21 blocks for me. 😬. In my defense I did sew 2 sundresses for myself. I used the new Marseille Dress pattern by hey June.
5 of the blocks were leftovers from a veterans quilt so I made myself a table runner.
I joined in the Ruby Star Society summer sew-along. We’re using their free pattern called the Perfect Picnic Quilt. 5” blocks, easy!
Another tough month for me. My aunt now has an infection in her wound so even more doctor appointments I have to transport her to/from. I did, however, finish 2 complex blocks. Any extra credit if they are really cute???
I’d give you extra credit
It was a busy month for me doing non-quilting stuff, but I did manage to get 68 blocks done during June. I was amazed when I counted how many I did get done. Next month will be busy also, so I will see what I can get done.
I haven’t been sewing much since we lost Clarke earlier this year, but I did manage a bit! Here’s my count to dare since I can’t remember when I last reported in:
January Total – 170 Blocks
February Total – 113 Blocks
March Total – 1 Block
April Total – 10 Blocks
May Total – 6 Blocks
June Total – 77 Blocks
YTD Total: 377 Blocks
I love your fabrics for Edyta’s QAL and am glad to see you’ve had more success at sewing. You always have such fun projects going on! 😉

I have had a busy month. I went through my shoe boxes full of 2″ and 2 1/2″ squares making 9 patch and 16 patch blocks for a total of 744 blocks. I got 8 twin size quilts made from these 2 shoeboxes and still have blocks left over. I had no idea there was that much fabric in those boxes. I am going to try and quilt 4 of these this weekend. I guess it pays to manage my scraps. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.
WOW!! That is some Impressive total.
I made a total of 154 blocks. 99 of those blocks were for quilts that were finished off for 2 community service quilts and they are on their way to be quilted this week. One of them will be for Linus. I am trying so hard to dumb down my stash of leftover stuff. I will try to do more next month.
Not a good quilting month. Just 6 block this month.
Zero in June
This was my best month this year. Although I had 6 days with no blocks, I made 163 blocks in June. I also put 6 quilt tops together and hand sewed the binding on 2 quilts.
You did great! I also worked on my Mad Dash sections. Got side tracked by an Exploding Heart quilt for a wedding quilt that will be queen sized. I managed to get 138 blocks made in June. Happy long weekend💥
Aw man how did that happen…another zero month. I did do some almost complete making of two portraits…me and the queen, online classes with Luke Haynes. A rice bag from an online class with Hello Stitch Studio, just need to sew up the handles…Started some chicken scratch embroidery from Quiltfolk workshop with Blair Stocker…but did not mark color placement on my black and white copy of instructions! If I finish them in July I will count them…!
I made 166 blocks this month. Some were really easy though. Finished 3 tops. Patchy stars, circles and Elfin.
166 blocks for me. Finished 3 tops
I made a total of 6 blocks for June. I got sidetracked overhauling my sewing room. I’m making good progress on it. Maybe I will get more blocks made in July.
I did not get much done – only 4 blocks. July probably not much better!
129 blocks, more for Ruby Jubilee, some churn dash blocks, and blocks for a new pattern I purchased.
Very busy month but no blocks made. Best news is that we are moving into our new house
You did a great job on your blocks this month. I added 36 blocks to my count, mostly swap and guild blocks this month. Like you, I’m beginning to feel winter will be knocking soon.
This month I mostly quilted, and then quilted some more.
I made 2 Positivity blocks from Sew Preeti, and cut more. Plus, made a 13 row quilt of 9 squares each = 13 blocks equivalent for a total of 15.
Made exactly 30 blocks. Really had to push for that.
Enjoy seeing your success. I have been saving Edita’s pattern and watching her videos. Glad to see a little mojo back for you.
4 blocks for me in June.
Love the fabrics in your blocks!
Total for June: 22. Lots of things going on robbing me of sewing/quilting time. Pretty blocks from Edyta, did not know about her sal……..I have too much to start a new one.
0 for June. I can’t find my running record book. I really doubt I made any. Sold house, bought house, packing, moving, very upset kitten, moving, storage, moving . . . The upside is very little changes/work on my new-to-me home and I gain LOADS of quilting space to make and display quilts and shelve my fabric “store.” July will be dedicated to that. Only “real” quilting work will be hand quilting.
Those Dare Devil blocks are gorgeous and fell in love when Barbara posted them; but, they are waaay beyond my patience level! You should post a photo of all the blocks you have done so far.
23 blocks for this month. I focused on and got most of one quilt top put together.
Love your blocks. I was tempted to do the Edyta Sitar Blocks but decided I needed to take a pass this time around. Still purging sewing things, a lot of fabric. Did get some sewing time in however. Kits buried for a few years! My count for June is 110. Blocks for 3 tops. Since we are still going to be having a hot and dry summer looks like I will be spending more time in doors!
I made 240 blocks this month. It’s kind of a bonus because I am making snowball blocks for a quilt and when I cut off the corners I am making half square triangle blocks from those to use another time. I am also hand quilting to finish a Grandma’s flower garden quilt for the family of a friend of my mother’s.
Both ladies have passed away and the family is cleaning out.
21 blocks for June….nothing to jump up and down about, but any progress is good 🙂
Lovely to hear about your many projects. Your summer mystery fabrics could have come right out of my stash! Favorite old 3 Sisters lines…..thanks for sharing.
I ended up with just 68 blocks finished. I did a whole bunch of 4 patches but didn’t count those as they will be part of another block when the time comes. I am finally starting to quilt my finished quilt tops. I have made one more quilt top and sandwiched, quilted and bound 3 others. I do mostly throw sized quilts so it wasn’t as much work as it sounds. Am trying to finish up all the finished quilt tops that I have into useable quilts. Hopefully in 2 or 3 months I will be all caught up unless I get side tracked again. We will see,
Managed to get 65 blocks done. One was epp another was a hawiian . Need to sew faster.
I made 7 pumpkin blocks and two other blocks for a total of 9.
27 blocks for me. Not great, but much better than my 0 for May😜. I’ve been machine quilting and binding. Love doing this challenge…helps me keep focused! Thanks Shelley!
34 June blocks for me. More than I thought since I’m still quilting my way through a backlog of tops.
No blocks again for me. The month was filled with a bad tooth infection, extraction and painful, slow healing. So weakened and tired. Getting better, though.
Mystery quilts and blocks of the month have been my favorite quilting endeavors. This year I’m concentrating on finishing what I started although several new projects are standing by! I’m looking forward to seeing your finished mysteries. My daughter asked me who I admire, actually who makes me a better person, and you came to mind!
PS, I made 34 blocks in June. And, happy to say, I finished the mystery quilt top, too (still backing, quilting, binding, and label to go).
I did better on blocks this month. I made118 blocks. I made 9 Blockheads blocks, 1 Sherry McC block of the month, 2 Spicy blocks, 8 Blast from the Past blocks, 10 Ambience blocks, 32 Summer Mystery blocks, 2 flower blocks to send as “birthday cards,” 48 setting blocks for a Neapolitan quilt with churn dash blocks, and 6 Secret Life of Color blocks. Still having trouble getting motivated to sew more Mad Dash blocks.
You are such a temptress! Now I want to do that mystery! FOMO for sure!
I thought I was doing pretty good for the month but then I see your “slow” totals. You seem to be doing just fine. 😊
I am caught up on Blast From the Past, my temp quilt, made a new star table topper and worked on my spring fling blocks. All in all made 49 blocks. So on track at least. 😊
My total for May was 18 blocks.
0 blocks for June! The weather has been nicer so I have been spending most of my time outside.
Thank you for drawing my name this month!!! I added 131 blocks to my total.
I ended up with 91 blocks for June, more than I expected.
Your blocks are so pretty! Sadly I have zero blocks to report. Between working in the garden, cleaning out cupboards, a quick cross country trip, as well as every day life in the country (escaped horses etc) there wasn’t much time to sew! Hopefully this month.
I did manage to get 21 blocks done this month. It was a busy month with Pete being in hospital in St. Louis for 4 days and my sister having surgery for a large tumor. Been busy taking care of everyone!!! I did manage to quilt a wedding shower quilt for a friend. You amaze me Shelly!! You are so motivated to take on several projects at one time and actually make progress on them. Will try for more blocks in July as I need to get a baby quilt done for a new great-grandson due in October.
I forgot to give you my number for May so it was 32 blocks. In June I made 24. I’m not getting much done!
I only managed 8 blocks for June. I have been quilting and finishing projects, so I have not been slacking off. lol
Mark me down with 39 for June. I made two quilts for my grandsons’ birthday gifts (construction themed), and got about two-thirds done with a large paper pieced horse that will become my granddaughter’s birthday gift later in July. Fun sewing!
Love your daredevils block! I haven’t joined Edyta’s mystery yet–I’ve been so tempted! Love your blocks!
I finished 40 blocks in June.
206 for Mad Dash. 15 more background and partial blocks to go. I’m almost there.
Only 11 for me but we’re nearing my quilt season so things should look up very soon!
34 blocks in June. I did manage to average at least one block per day, but there were chunks of time that nothing got done. So be it.
ah just like the white rabbit I am late again… 37 blocks for June!
Have not had internet access, zero blocks for me at this time. I am working on a new project while traveling and will count at the end of the project.
Zero for me for June.
I had too many other things going on and didn’t make any quilt blocks in June. July looks to be better though! Glad you were able to make some positive progress!
I had 47 blocks for June, thanks to a retreat last week.
Hi Shelly, I have 10 blocks to report, a doll quilt and some sample blocks for a future project. Most of my sewing time was in hand quilting a couple projects.
For June–17 blocks. I’m sad that I cannot list more but it’s a topsy-turvy time of year. Our vegetable garden is flourishing and the potted plants are in full bloom. Outdoor activities take priority this time of year, especially watering. I enjoy reading about everyone’s sewing.
I felt like I was slacking off on blocks this month. On the other hand I quilted and bound at least 3 quilts of my own. Mark me down for 29 blocks in June. Thanks.
I only managed 4 blocks in June. 🙁 Busy month!
