Hourglasses Quilt

I posted earlier about the Hourglasses quilt that my Aunt Mary made. Well, I loved it so much that I felt the urge to recreate it in today’s modern fabrics, so I did that very thing, and I’ve made it into a free tutorial that is now available HERE.

Here’s my version:

I used the “Good Life” fabric collection designed by Deena Rutter for Riley Blake Designs.

Here’s another shot of it:

I hope you like it. Go get the pattern — it’s free! Click HERE.

    Absolutely beautiful!

Shelly, that turned out awesome! Although I don’t think the picture does it justice.

  3. Cindy says:

Oh, and how on earth did you manage to get that picture without any critters?

  4. I checked it out. I have always loved the hour glass patterns. I’m wondering if you noticed that since this is a 4 patch (16 patch), there really is no need to create two blocks, because when you give a block a one quarter turn, it *is* the second block.

In any case, that’s a *lot* of bitty blocks, and I love the quilting. (I’m still pretty amazed that you were able to get your great aunt’s quilt flat!)

  5. Oh, Shelly! This is just stunning. I love it! The colors and design are amazing. You are so talented!

I just love this version in new fabrics!! And having the old Aunt Mary’s Hourglasses was a good tutor in how to just mix things up! Thanks for giving us the benefit of your adventures in fabric. I never want to not be your friend!
