Studio Organizing, Week 8

Did you eliminate an unnecessary stack of a mess last week?

I wanted to choose a larger one to tackle, but I decided a small one was better than nothing, since I was short on time. And I’ve been tripping over this one for quite some time, so I’m glad to have it cleaned up.

I got all my fabric refolded and the bins all neatly labeled, yet here’s this random stack of stuff piled on the floor in front of it. Why?

I went through it. There were two UFOs, a bag of scraps, a book containing a pattern I want to make, and a box of odds and ends that need to be gone through.

All of it is now put away, except I have not gone through the box yet. It has lots of little pieces, and I didn’t have time to deal with them. But I will!

For now, it’s time to move on. This week, it’s time to:

Clean out a drawer or clean off a shelf

This one is easy for me. I have lots of drawers I could clean out, and many shelves I could work on.

How about you?

I could probably go back and RE-clean some of the ones I cleaned out last year. They don’t seem to stay pristine for long, if you’re actually using the contents like you should be!

And I still have lots of shelves that aren’t organized the way I want them to be. I’ll have plenty to work on this week. Will you be able to find something as well?

I should reorganize my fabric shelves. Maybe I’ll get that done this week. 🙂

When I purged my sewing room I swore I would not let it get that way again. So far so good.

I am now in the process of making 2 quilts for a Veterans organization. Well my hubby and I are. He’s doing one a simple one and I am doing the other. So far all is going well.

His is cubes and mine is call cross walks by Jenny Doan. Every day when we are done we pick up and throw away the scraps or bag them to donate to our friends at our quilt guild.

My goal fr this week is to tackle th shelf that holds my patterns. I have collected them fr years but in the last 3 have not even used any! Time to go through them, select the keepers, and purge the rest donating to charity. I may only make it through me of the three boxes n that shelf but even that would make me feel lighter!

I’m sure I have a drawer or two that needs straightening. I’ll be doing something. Now you have me thinking….

Good Morning – YES I am going through boxes!

I remember Dr. Joyce Brothers being interviewed on how she met her achievements in education, home and as a TV personality…one answer was “clean out one drawer a day” to get your house in order!!!

Never think of the whole, just attempt and work on a part of what needs to be done.

Nearly got rid of the stack. Just the last box and some stuff that was sitting on top of the stack to go. Once I find a flat home for the tissue paper the rest of stack should disappear. I might have to select a shelf that is big enough to hold the tissue paper and clean it up. Put the tissue paper there and hopefully by the end of the week I should have the two spots tidied. Never enough time is there?

This week challenge will be cleaning my patterns. I have a hard time opening the two drawers because its too heavy! LOL

I have to decide what is the best way to organize these! I know I will either donate them or sell them.

I like Beverly’s post about Dr. Joyce Brother’s quote “clean out one drawer a day.”

    Always room to clean up.

I actually did fairly well on my pile last week. But, does anything really stay clean for long?
