Last year’s mystery quilt at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop wrapped up back in August/September, but I’m only just now finding time to post about it here!
If you participated in their mystery program, then you know what the quilt looks like. But for those of you who did not, here’s the big reveal!
Jessica chose a selection of Art Gallery fabrics, combined with some low-volumes for background, and asked for a medallion-style quilt this time, so here’s what I came up with. Her fabric choices give this quilt a super soft, vintage-y/modern, blended look, and the design makes your eyes move around the quilt to see all the stars.

The quilt is made from all very simple blocks, and only uses units like Flying Geese, triangle squares, and plain squares in the construction. There are no special templates, but if you have a Bloc-Loc ruler, I highly recommend that!
And if you know me, you know I can never make just one version because I like to test my instructions to death, so I made a second version in reds/whites/blues so that I could donate it to one of our local veterans. Here’s the red/white/blue version:

The finished quilt measures 80″ square. If you wanted it larger, you could add an outer border to bring up the size.
The pattern only contains the instructions for the original version. For the red/white/blue version, you can refer to the photo and do some coloring on the block diagrams to make it the way you want it. The printed pattern is available at Sew Sweet Quilt Shop.
You can purchase the PDF version in my Etsy shop here.
So many have asked if we’re doing another one this year, but the answer is NO, not this year. We both needed a break from it, so we’re on a hiatus for now. But if we decide to do another one in the future, I’ll be sure and let you know. Meanwhile, this might give me time to work on some other things I have up my sleeve, so stay tuned here!
