I haven’t posted a Studio Organizing task in a long time. Partly because I couldn’t land on one single task to concentrate on while I’ve been moving. I was having to do all the things at once!
Plus, I simply haven’t been spending much time on the computer, if you hadn’t noticed. There’s been a lot going on this summer.
I’m still moving stuff, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Rooms in the old house are getting empty, and I’m trying to deal with the piles I’m making in the new house, and especially in the studio.
So I decided to just make that a task we can all tackle together over the next couple weeks.
Here’s the pile I’d like to tackle:

Most of this is my vintage collection of stuff. I know what I want to do with it, but I want to re-sort it into the tubs in a different way.
So that means I need to drag it all out and sort it and put it back in the tubs, but I’m actually looking forward to it. I love playing in all the vintage blocks and quilt tops!
So that’s what I’m gonna tackle. What about you? Do you have an annoying pile you need to vanquish? Something you keep tripping over? Or a stack that’s always in your way while you’re trying to do something else?
Now’s the time! Let’s do this together.
I’ll leave you with a shot of my sweet little helper, Sassy. We finally moved the goats onto pasture, and for a while, they couldn’t figure things out, and kept escaping, trying to go “home”. Goats have a “home base”, and go back to it when they want to rest, or at night. Well, we moved their home base, so they were highly confused. Thankfully, they’ve all adjusted quite well, but for awhile, it was a daily battle. On this particular day, the herd had escaped, but Sassy did not go with them, so she was all alone, and decided instead that she would help me fix fence. She IS quite spoiled!

I have several piles that need work. I’ll choose two and get busy. Thanks for the nudge!
your piles are very neat.
Love the picture of Sassy. Glad the goats are adjusting to their new home. I have a pile of sewing supplies that I need to organize. Hopefully, I can work on that this afternoon.
Amazing, I’ve been dealing with piles all day today. We are coming off of some big activities, getting ready to leave on vacation and dealing with family health issues. Piles are not my friend right now.
So happy you are back on track. Piles! I have plenty to keep me busy 🙂
Not seeing the light working the walls to center yet. I am not surprised that I have the same amount of WIP’s and kits… each fill a legal sized tablet of paper. All this after donating WIP and kits last year. Once I am through touching everything and sorting the keep/donate piles. I might need a time out! Looking forward to your new studio reveal!
Oh yes, those pesky piles do seem to keep showing up. I have some piles of extra fabric in places they don’t belong in my sewing room. I’m going to be away for long weekends for the rest of the month so any time I get in my sewing room will be trying to finish a birthday gift. Looking forward to seeing your new space. Have fun playing with your vintage collection!
Right now, it feels like my entire studio is a “pile”! I’m not sure how things got so out of hand. After I get the quilting machine to going, I’m going to tackle the pile that is my cutting table – I need to trim a quilt, so that’s part of my motivation…lol
Good luck, everyone!!
Little Miss Sassy is a good helper by trimming your hedges!
At the moment my floor is covered with blocks and partially completed top. I have to do it sneakily otherwise the cats want to come in and they yell at the door – one tries to paw his way inside (it has a big glass panel and he has flooffy feet so no damage done). I don’t want their feet all over the quilt!
When you arrange your room you tend to rearrange it a bit further down the line. I found some bags with new fabric that I’d forgotten about, so I’m trying to sort that out too! I’m now working with my 2nd change but I still need something tweaked! I need a design wall!
This moving into a lot less space has me with what seems like piles. it will all get a home but it may take a while. Plus we are still mixing in traveling. Two rounf trips to TX in the last two weeks. Family annual campout weekend coming up soon and a desire to see our great grands.
I had so many piles in the studio that I kept moving from one place to another. Need the longarm, put on the cutting table, need the cutting table, move to …… It was endless moving of things. I decided to set up a 4 ft table in the back room and move everything back there. It is slowly being sorted and put where it belongs. Thanks for the encouragement Shelly!
My goal is to stop seeing the floor as extending table space. That’s where the piles and supplies end up.
Um, Shelly, I think that is a neat stack instead of a pile; a pile is a breath away from sliding all across the nearest surface. I do have a couple of piles I need to work on after I get done canning.
I really need to reorganize my fabrics. Go through everything just to see what I have and re-sort. I’m still playing catch up trying to finish off quilts. So definitely, as soon as that is finished, sorting will be my next big task.
I’ve rearranged my room a couple of times – found some fabrics stashed away, forgotten in the move!
Your stacks are neat. I love your goat helping you to trim the hedge!
I’ve made some good progress on addressing some piles/stacks of things in my sewing room during August and September. I used to do lots of rubber stamping – card making. I am not really interested in doing that anymore, so I have made some efforts to give much of that stash of supplies to a few friends who are interested. Just a little bit of that left! I destashed some quilty notions that I no longer needed, as well as some bags of scraps and some larger pieces of fabrics. Fortunately one of my groups has table where you can put things out for everyone else to ponder and take home! It was a win—win!!!
