It’s the last day of 2023! Did you get as many blocks made as you wanted to this year?
I ended up with a total of 976 for the year, only adding 10 during December. I’m not sure what I was doing, but it wasn’t sitting at my sewing machine, evidently!
I got so close to 1000 — maybe I can beat that number in 2024.
Here’s the most notable block I made:

This block is the label for my Millennium quilt, Do You Remember?, which you can see HERE. I’m only 23 years late getting the label made, and I still need to locate the quilt so I can sew it on! And since I didn’t actually finish the quilt until 2013, it just makes sense, right?
How did you do as you wrapped up your year? I know the holidays keep a lot of us too busy to sew, and then, too, some of us are busy with last-minute gift projects, so your mileage may vary!
Send in your final totals so we can see how everyone ended up!
Never fear, we’ll be doing this again next year. I’ll do a wrap-up post sometime around the 8th of January, so that will give you time to report in your final totals, and then you’ll have some time to check out how everyone else did before we launch the next round on January 15th! I’ll announce the winners and our yearly stats in the wrap-up post, so be sure and check back.
Meanwhile, the November prize winner is ChrisGG!
You can see the Project page HERE.
Thanks to all of you who participated all year. I hope you’re planning lots of blocks for 2024!
On 23 for me in Dec. No i didn’t get as much as i hoped, so room for improvement next year!
103 blocks to finish the year. Happy New Year
I made the final 32 blocks for my Satisfaction quilt plus another 4 when I decided to remake one of the ‘flowers’ because there was insufficient contrast which I knew when I first started piecing them but blithely did it anyway, sigh. But the top is now complete including removing all the papers. This is likely to be my ‘one and done’ paper pieced quilt.
So 36 for the month; 420 for the year.
No blocks for me in December. I did manage to clean my sewing room so I can do a much better job in 2024. Happy New Year to you and all the members.
70 for me. Just couldn’t squeeze anything else in! I think that puts me around 1,470 for the year?
WOW! Love your millennium quilt. It’s a treasure. I was able to get 230 blocks made this month. Thanks to Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt and making placemats to donate to Meals on Wheels. It’s a great way to use scraps, orphan blocks and scrap batting. Thanks for keeping us motivated and organized!
Best wishes for a wonderful 2024 🎉
194. bingo!!!
10 big blocks (units for the total of 16 big ones completed) and 4 great granny blocks. I’d have loved to do more though. But my sewing room is almost tidied . . . if I stand with my back to the mess! Craft table was a partial until cat decided to lay in a bag on top. For hours – just because it was monsoon infinity going on outside and he was bored! Found some papers and thought why did I print these? So they will be recycled into the woodstove. Also found family history stuff. They will be moved to the family history folders!
2 blocks for me in December. I was busy sewing gifts for Christmas, so at least I got some sewing time in!
While I’m still COVID + made 36 blocks for another baby quilt flimsy. Congrats on your Millennial finish. Great label. God’s Blessings in the coming New Year!!
I may have failed to report my blocks for November. In case I did, I made 40 blocks in November and 32 blocks in December for a YTD total of 778. Happy New Year to all!
This was not a good quilting month for me. I managed to quilt and bind 2 but that’s it for the month. But every day in the quilt room is a bonus!
Happy quilting in 2024.
Happy New Year to all!!!
I completed 56 blocks this month.
38 blocks for me this month. I started and completely finished a large lap size quilt this month, starting with a panel. I never finish one that quickly, but it was a Christmas gift, so I had to. I also finished hand quilting a twin size quilt that I had been working on for a few months.
62 blocks for me for December. Had a major project to get ready for the quilter. Happy New Year everyone!
I did 72 blocks for December. Not as many as I hoped, but the month got really busy.
I may have reported this earlier. I had only 6 blocks, but I did lots of appliqué.
I’m not going to make the goal this year, unless I have neglected to report some months. I made 10 blocks in December. I did quite a bit of gift sewing which doesn’t count, so I wasn’t idle. ( Is anyone idle in December?)
45 for me!
I only finished 7 blocks in December, but finished 2 projects, so it was a great month.
You get so much done!
December included 76 more blocks for a total of 862 this year.
Looking forward to 2024.
Happy New Year to all! I managed to complete 48 blocks to end my year! I’m hoping to do better next year.
Total for December: 27. Already started on January so I hope to be more productive in 2024.
71 blocks done this month.
Happy New Year!
35 for me this time. A few each of 3 different types, plus two 7×9 row quilts of squares that I counted as 7 blocks each.
Only 15 blocks for me. I was busy with Christmas gift sewing, and now most of my sewing things are packed away as I needed to clear the room for overnight guests.
I spent most of the month quilting or sewing clothes/pajamas for Christmas. Not a single block was completed. However, I did quilt and bind 4 tops and bound and additional 3 for gifting, so I feel like it was still a productive month!
Beautiful Label! I didn’t expect to get any blocks for Dec with gift sewing but I surprised my self. 414 total for the year with 27 in Dec. Another quilt all cut but just a few blocks sewed to count for 2024.Already have several quilts in mind to make for 20024. A special 50th Anniversary quilt in the plans. Need a little more fabric before I can start. Lots of quilts for 2023 but not the block count. Happy New Year to all
I ended up with a total of 361 blocks for the year.
I look forward to doing it again in 2024.
18 blocks for me in December, Shelly.
28 for me. I’m looking forward to playing along in 2024. Thanks for organizing this.
4 for me. Happy New Year!
A lower count for me this month: 29 total.
Still busy with church craft fair items.
Only 6 blocks for me. Made those into potholders. Lots of other sewing making zipper pouches and storage baskets.
None for me in December! I definitely need to do better in 2024! On the other hand I did pass on a lot of fabric to Linus and other organizations in 2023. And did finish up some UFO’s.
23 blocks for December. I have not been spending much time sewing and I need to get back to sewing. What a pretty block!
27 blocks for December. Looks like 2024 will be a better year piecing. My January goal is cutting and piecing a top, quilting one smaller one leftover from last year, and cutting for for the QOV Sew Day held in February. I really don’t want to bring new UFO’s into the new year. This one just couldn’t be helped, so it is really at the top of my list to get done! Once again, my top 12 UFO’s to complete in 2024 are all tops to be quilted. I have one piecing in progress, a Dresden Plate, that I try to make 3 blocks per month. It’s a goal LOL! Happy New Year to you all and happy, productive sewing!!
19 blocks for December!
Lots of appliqué and embroidery again.
Happy New Year in your new home and all!
Finished just 24 blocks in Dec and I think that totals me out at 2011 for the year. Did get 2 more tops finished and started working on Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt. Now I’ll have to start thinking about all of the quilt tops I’ve done and and make them into quilts.
Have a wonderful 2024!
I had a slowish December but an even slower November – which I forgot to send in. 5 for November and 19 December. Still short of 350 but I think I am closer than previous times!! I love your label and how it acknowledges how long it can take to make a quilt!
I had a decent month with 53 blocks made, despite all the holiday activities and gift sewing. Your millennium quilt is incredible, all those hand-pieced blocks!
I had 19 blocks for December – 10 finishing projects and 9 for a bargello table runner for my daughter for Christmas – with specific size instructions from her. Maybe 2024 will be better for me too!
I made no blocks in December – I have 1 appliques piece half finished…. it was a very busy month. I did bind 2 quilts for gifting.
I look forward to challenge next year! I definitely need some organizing now that my sewing space is a mess after trying to finish projects. Hoping it goes a little easier now that Shelly has got me into shape with her ideas over the year.
Here is my December # 15 blocks.
Traveled and had family home. It was a wonderful month📍
I want to join again in 2024❣️
Happy New Year and excited for your move👏🏻🧵
Only 5 blocks this month. Three Celebration blocks, 1 Sherry McConnell BOM, and 1 block in a mug rug. Not so good this month, but I finished the year with over 1000, so I can’t complain.
My total for the year is 1122, half of last year. I’m pretty sure I enjoyed making the blocks every bit as much! It is always so wonderful that you organize this. Thank you!

I pieced 143 blocks this month. Most of them are scrappy using up lots of leftovers. A lot of this will go to community service quilts I hope. Great year !! Thanks for keeping me going.
I’ve been distracted, however I’ve also been focused.
It’s been a huge travel year. No complaints.
But when home I have been truly focused on double nine-patch blocks. One would think I’d get bored with them, but no. It’s what I’ve been calling “zen piecing”.
October I did 18 Double 9 Patch and 36 Pebble Patch blocks. (I’m going to put the Pebble Patch pattern away as this was the 3rd quilt I made with this pattern).
November 25 Double 9 Patch
December 24 Double 9 Patch
I’m thinking I might have made my 350 for 2023. I might have to try for 600 for 2024. Thank you sew much for inspiring me to move through these blocks.
No blocks for me. Sorry for the late report.
