It felt like I wasn’t getting much done this past month, but my total was 61 blocks this time, so apparently, I really did get a bit more sewing time in than I imagined!
Some days, it was storming, so I couldn’t plug in the longarm, or I only had a few minutes to fill, and I took that time to just sit at my sewing machine feeding pieces through mindlessly. Some days, that was all I could handle.
Here’s a bit of what I worked on . . .
I got two more blocks done for my Improv Herringbone quilt. Here’s one of them:

I made some more 9-patches for My Wild Nine-Patch quilt. I’ve officially reached the halfway point on that one, I think. They’re so random. This might turn out to be an ugly quilt — time will tell!

And I made two more blocks for Blast from the Past. Also now past the halfway point on this one.
Here’s Block 15:

And Block 16:

So things are moving along, albeit rather slowly. I also worked on lots of other projects, but hopefully, I can find the time to show you those in some future posts.
Now it’s your turn! How did you do? Time to report in with your totals.
The Project Page is updated. Our new block goal for July is 33 blocks, for a year-to-date total of 197.
The May prize winner is Julie in GA. She’s up to 623 blocks so far this year — woohoo! And if you read her blog, you’ll see why.
I hope you all have a lovely 4th of July holiday. It’s HOT here — maybe I should make some homemade ice cream for me and My Cowboy!
I did things done but not too many blocks – only 22 for me this month.
I completed 59 blocks. I still lack about 20 of the leader/enders to have them completed. I finished all of the blocks need to extend the quilt in the motorhome. I will need to remove the binding and I will add them QAYG method. And I found a squirrel and have completed 4 blocks for it.
This month was varied with piecing (machine and hand), appliqué and embroidery.
Had a total of 109. Surprised me.
You made some beautiful blocks! I don’t think the 9-patch will be ugly. I outdid myself this month, with a total of 105 blocks added to make 385 and that thrills me! I’m past this year’s goal, and moving on. Thanks for running a terrific project that lets me know I’m actually accomplishing something!
Lots of little bits add up to good progress! I need to remind myself of that as well. I was very thankful for leaders and enders this month as that helped to bump up my total to 53 blocks. I’m just glad to be moving things forward!
Finished the last 5 of my VERY complicated paper pieced blocks this month. Will be happy to have normal stuff again soon!
Only 7 blocks for me this month. I haven’t been in my sewing room much, and when I have, I’m working on a challenge quilt (one big block) and been making lots of bins and bags!
I so enjoy seeing your blocks! Thanks for sharing. This month, thanks to easy leader and ender blocks, I made 120 blocks. I did make 2, difficult for me, hand appliqué blocks.
I finally finished temperature quilt! It makes the numbers look a little crazy. I hope to have 2021’s done in a month or so. So my total is 492 blocks.
I have that same tutorial printed and on my cutting table….in my spare time!
Made 97 blocks this month. Still less time at the machine and more time with outside duties.
I love your blocks. My month started out okay. Was able to work on my Scrap dance Quadrille
But by the 2nd week our old Standard Poodle started having problems. Given her age, 18, we knew she wouldn’t be around mych longer. I stayed with her most days. And what sewing I did do, I ended up ripping most of it. Anyway only 11 blocks for the month
lots of partials made so there should be amych better count in July!
I was surprised to total up 100 blocks for the month. I expect July to be a slowdown while I turn many of those blocks into quilt tops.
I managed to make 50 blocks. 16 for a table runner for a friend and 34 as a leader/ender project (still have 8 to make). Pictures are on Instagram.
Shelly, you’ve done great this month and all the blocks are so pretty! I made 64 blocks in June. Happy Fourth!
Hi, I had my first grand baby born this month…. so I was a little down on my count 82. blocks.
I made 18 blocks for June. My sister is coming down from the Chicago area and we will be working on a quilt for her daughter’s wedding next week. Problem is, there are no blocks for me to count. lol Will be using 2.5″ strips in the wedding colors. At least we’ll be able to have a gabfest about the wedding plans.
I cleared 49 blocks this month despite a 2-week trip to Ireland so I’m feeling good about that. This means I’m back on track to just possibly make that 350 for the year goal.
But Shelly I am honestly in awe of your productivity.
45 Quilts of Valor blocks.. lots of red, white and blue at my house!
A big 9 blocks for june. Traveled for almost 2 weeks. And where the rest of the month went I don’t know.
Celebrate well for all of us.
I started and finished 3 quilts this month for a total of 134 blocks. Easy blocks but they are done!
Fair month for me 25 blocks
This past month I haven’t really been able to quilt much (which was my original plan), so I went full steam on the block making instead. 100 blocks, spread across various projects.
Such pretty blocks you made! I only got 10 blocks made in June. I really don’t know where the month went! I did get a couple of quilts bound that had been quilted for awhile. Tonight I pulled off paper from a String blocks quilt top while watching my feller take a transmission back out of a truck.
I had a total of 26 blocks for June – all of them for our virtual group’s Jen Kingwell Green Tea and Sweet Beans sew-along. I’m getting close to start putting it all together.
228 for me. Picking up the pace around here!
I have 48 blocks for June, I signed up for a couple of online classes in July , really hoping to get the mojo back already!
You always seem to get a lot accomplished. I finished the embroidery block for the crib quilt. I have all the embroidery and appliqué finished. Now to finish it in the fall. I also made one big block to be a bedspread in the trailer. So 2 blocks done for June.
Homemade ice cream…yum! We are having warmer and drier weather than normal so ice cream sounds good.
As for blocks…25 for me. I have mostly been working on finishing things I got quilted…lots of binding!
Happy 4th!
I would vote for ice cream! I only got 13 blocks done this month because I was busy sewing things other than quilts. I am sew excited because I finally opened an Etsy shop! It’s called ShowMeCraftMaker and you can follow my sewing escapades over on Instagram @showmecraftmaker. I did submit my Mad Dash quilt to the Garden of Quilts in Lehi, Utah. Fingers are crossed that it gets accepted 🤞 Stay inside where it’s cool and enjoy your ice cream 🎆
35 blocks done. Yes, home made ice cream is a great idea!
27 blocks for me. I’m fairly close to the “goal” so far which is good enough for me.
I was able to complete 62 blocks for June.
Catching up on my reporting. Only 16 Cracker blocks in April. May was better because we were hime more with 13 Crackers, 35 Blooming Nine Patches and 32 Dino blocks for a total of 80. Jume was real productive with 70 shirting Nine Patches 21 Blooming Nine Patches and 20 Nine Patch Houses for a total of 111 for June. I suspect July will be slow as we have some travel and I have to turn some of these blocks into quilts instead of block collections.
Only 13 blocks but several borders and backings and “getting ready” to appliqué things!!!
I finished 60 blocks in June and quilted 3 quilts. Love your herringbone block!
I like the blocks you made! I’m reporting for May and June. While my machine was in the shop, I bound two quilts! My daughter and granddaughter are coming to visit for a week, and our plan is to make a graduation quilt together. We’ve always wanted to see the Sisters outdoor quilt show, and this might be our chance for an overnight road trip. In May I made 58 blocks, and in June I completed 25. PS My daughter shipped ahead ice cream for us to try together. She saw this treat on Oprah’s favorite things!
June count: 72
What a funny month……….. both drought and massive rain! Making blocks seemed just as funny. I made 53 blocks………all from leftovers! I am trying to dumb down the piles. I am trying to make some smaller quilts or table runners from this stuff that can be easy give-aways. I even quilted one or two. My daughter has challenged me with a brand new thing. I’ll talk about that next month.
74 blocks for me this month.
Love, love love those braids!!
I made 86 blocks in June which brings my YTD to 302.
Like you, I had a more productive month in June than I’d realized–83 blocks made! I also pieced a backing and finished two tops. I love your herringbone blocks!
love your herringbone quilt. Gives me ideas. I had a total of 353 blocks this month. Shocked myself. 88 of them were utility blocks using small 9 patches. Also quite a few were from starting a temperature quilt for this year. Went from Jan. to May so that really upped my total. I sandwiched 3 quilts and have started quilting those. After these are done I’m thinking of trying to make some quilted shawls for my favorite charity. Sew on, sew on.
Sorry, I’m late reporting. Made 14
scrappy ones. That’s all.
574 blocks for June. I don’t think I will get many blocks in July; I am having a quilting marathon. So far I have quilted 6. I have about 30 left to quilt; we shall see. I really like your improve herringbone blocks.
That would be a big ZERO for me in June! Sigh! But I did a lot of machine quilting smaller quilts and binding. So far, July isn’t looking much better …but I guess some months, one must do a little finishing 😳. Another sigh. I’m loving your idea of “sticky buns”!!!
Hi Shelly, Sorry this is so late. I had 95 blocks this month. 4 for BHG Celebration, 12 for Scrap Dance Quadrille, 42 for Grandpa’s Barn, 36 for Liberty and 1 Sherry McConnell BOM. If my math is correct that is 95 blocks. Thanks again for all your work on this project.
I completed 14 blocks in June.
A busy month, but I did get 69 blocks done.
I made 85 new blocks/sections/rows, for a total of 731.
https://zanasninis.blogspot.com/2023/07/june-block-count.html
I only managed to quilt and bind 4 small quilts but didn’t get any blocks made. Some months are that way.
Oh I love all of your colorful blocks! All so pretty. ‘Late reporting, but I sewed only 1 lonely block.
