July Studio Organizing, Task One

Posted on July 23, 2022 by prairiemoonquilts in Studio Organizing Challenge

Let’s see . . . where were we? I completely fell off the organizing wagon for a while there!

Our last challenge was to deal with paper clutter, and even tho I did go through some stuff and toss a bunch, I didn’t really address the challenge fully.

And I haven’t offered one up since then because I’m back to having serious arm issues. And instead of offering a proper challenge this time, since I really can’t do one justice my ownself right now, I’m instead this time giving you a list of links to other blogs and articles that have some great suggestions.

Some of these are oldies, but still goodies; some are part of a series that you can go down a rabbit hole with; and I even threw in a couple of studio tours, so grab a cuppa and enjoy!

So sorry about your arm. SO frustrating!!! I had an issue with hand surgery that turned into two , making it last from October through May a few years ago. Hang in there.

Thank you for the inspiration. I hope your arm issues heal.

Thank you for all of the interesting links! I’m hoping my motivation comes back this week when the cooler weather is forecast. I’ll be glad when Mother Nature gets over her hot flashes! Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery!

Wow I don’t know any one who had an elbow replacement. I hope when you heal and get through PT it will be a great improvement. I am currently sitting in front of a fan in Maine thinking I may finally need to get more fans. 94 here. I am booted from my sewing room because it is on the second floor… ( sad face, whine whine )

Oh organization organization insert yourself into our daily life forever & forever. Upend my sewing room is what happened from moving. I sewed in the camper & dragged stuff out then dragged more stuff out when sewing in the camper bay from September to June. Now in the new seeing room. Can’t find some things I was using in camper bay. Room is looking good the search is on & now gone for 7 weeks. Will I ever get back to piecing quilts & Boeing where the stuff I want is at ?

Keep on healing. When I was at my daughter’s, we cleaned her sewing room – taking most of it out & slowly bringing it back after rearranging some furniture. She inspired me to get a stand table to sew on. From there, i have cleaned & sorted so your challenge came as i was finishing! Now to be able to sew- hope hope.

Perfect timing. Sold one house, bought another and have so much more space for my sewing/quilting. I need to really think through how to organize everything efficiently. I am going to review what’s in the links you listed and take time to plan things out. There is no rush to get it done and if I plan well now, it will give me far more sewing time down the road.

Thanks for the links…still trying to thru them! My task for this week is to get my sewing machines changed out of my cabinet. My new machine had a few issues and had to go to the shop…all fixed now, I hope. 🤞

Hang in there with the arms!

I have been trying to do this for a bit more of a year. The usual solutions are to re-sort! Throw away! Finish something old! Try not to start something new! (this one is hard) Take those scraps and make something from them. My best solution has been to make quilts from the scraps. Lucky for me my sister Linda will quilt a scrappy quilt and find a useful home for it. We have succeeded in this for more than 2 years. A lot of scraps have gone out the window. I can send you a picture of one successful scrap put together.
